Suggestion for Hitchcock movie - Shadow of a Doubt.
I went to school right behind where Hitchcock was born. (Piece of useless trivia for you).

I just saw Avatar. Unfortunately I did not get to see it in 3D, as the 3D IMAX theater was sold out for the next century, but even so, it was the most visually amazing movie I've ever seen. There are movies that really serve as milestones in the technological development of filmmaking. Movies like Terminator 2, Star Wars, etc. Avatar is one of those movies, and sets a new standard for what movies can - and should - achieve.
Being honest - the story is nothing special. It's extremely predictable, because it's been done before almost to the letter. It's Dances With Wolves, The Last Samurai, and Pocahontas. The concept of the Avatar is somewhat unique, and the setting is amazingly fleshed out, but still it's the same story you've seen told before and most likely you'll know how the movie's going to play out before 30 minutes have expired. But I gotta tell you that the visuals are just so stunning that you don't notice or care. This is a movie you should see in theaters if you call yourself a movie fan. It should win the Best Picture Oscar as well, because, just from a technological stand-point, I don't see how any other film can be considered better. Five stars, easily.
Oh, and much has been made by certain people about the movie's supposed anti-American, environmental themes. That's just hogwash. The movie doesn't even mention the United States and while it does have environmentalist themes - such as, you know, don't strip mine an entire planet or brutally destroy an indigenous population - that's nothing really new in movies.

I saw Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, and The Princess and the Frog over my winter vacation, and they all were so great! 5/5 Stars for each of them.

Hannah Montana?
Avatar huh?i was expecting a lot more from Cameron, a visually breathtaking film awesomeness can be lost easily in time, i have not seen it yet but if story is boring then its a bad film with a great budget, great graphics and great marketing. All directors said it wasnt a great thing but were crazy about the digital effects. If this crap wins an oscar then i will surely throw my oscar in the garbage can just to make company with the nobel prize.

@Phoenix
I came away from Avatar feeling amazed. I was bored with ES4 in about 10 minutes.
@pei
Don't get me wrong. The story was pretty meh, and the film would have been better if the plot had been more daring and original. I can think of three or four better ways the plot could have unfolded to make it more thought provoking, less predictable, and more memorable. I won't offer them here, so as not to spoil the movie (such as it is).
A day has passed since I've seen the movie and my opinion has, admittedly, melowed a mit. Nevertheless, the visuals really were *that* amazing, and, dumb as the plot was, I still was never bored even though I pretty much knew exactly what was going to happen from the get-go. Truly, there's no line any more between animated and live action film. It's a theater must-see.

So spiderman is getting a reboot as well. I'm not sure how I feel about it, there were both good and bad parts in the first three movies but somehow I feel that the circle was over, the interest had waned. While the last one had its fun moments my enthusiasm watered down soon and I wasn't really looking forward to another one. Perhaps a fresh start is for the better.
