Paul was another good one with that duo. an E.T. spoof/parody that's actually good.

We need some more good post-apocalyptic historical fiction zombie movies. Medieval zombies. Pirates zombies. Legionnaire zombies. Caveman & sabretooth tiger zombies, etc. I feel like the post-apocalyptical historical fiction zombie genre needs a lot of work.
There's Army of Darkness, but that has time travel and so doesn't completely count.

watched kong vs godzilla. one question: where did the sun come from in the center of the earth? my suspension of disbelief only goes so far. overall, the movie was trash.
watched the 4-hour version of justice league. also trash, but it at least had a couple good parts in it that weren't in the original. most of the additions were LAME af.
besides those two turds, i watched 2 movies that blew the above two right out of the water: the danish "pusher" and the sequel(didn't watch the 3rd one). gritty 90's realism, shot with what could almost be a home camcorder. the acting is all top-notch. i've known people like those depicted in these movies; their characters resonate with me for how real they are. horribly stupid, hilarious, and mostly detestable people with a few somewhat decent human beings thrown in here and there. i haven't seen movies this realistic since "city of god". i highly recommend the first two; if i get a chance to see the 3rd one, i'll report back. not likely for a long time; as the site i use doesn't have them with the english subtitles for safekeeping.

Agreed. The final 30 minutes were fun, but the path to get there was way too complicated and stupid to justify it.

Well, I thought it was better than the original. I couldn't stand the aspect ratio, though. Everyone has wide screen TVs, so why would you release it in a different format? Is it supposed to be artsy or something? Also too bad, apparently, that none of the loose threads mean anything in the greater DC universe. Man, the DC cinematic universe is a hot steaming mess. Aquaman was about the only one worth watching IMHO.

a list of movies i've watched lately(all but "ravenous" for the first time):
vanishing point (beats "easy rider" all to hell)
river's edge (crime drama that's unexpectedly great. found it hunting for 80's gems i've never heard of. keanu reeves/dennis hopper/mcglovin as a kid. all top-notch acting, even if the story is a little unbelievable. crispin glover is the only drawback to this movie; he doesn't play a speed freak well. dennis hopper is, as always, dennis hopper. one of the greatest scenes in a movie ever, is when hopper takes his blow-up doll to shop for beer during a robbery. classic hopper. )
l.a. confidential (russel crowe crime noir. another great movie)
chinatown (jack nicholson crime noir. fantastic movie)
eyes wide shut (last kubrick movie. again, great movie)
mulholland drive (david lynch. another fantastic crime movie)
alive (better than expected, but not much to remember. based on a true story; and i pity the people that had to go through that)
a perfect world (kevin costner/clint eastwood, crime drama. great movie)
a bronx tale (coming of age semi-crime movie. great acting all around)
pain and gain (didn't want to see this one, but was forced to watch it. unexpectedly hilarious. dark and nearly obscene, because the story really happened)
what we do in the shadows (think: vampire version of "real world". absolutely hilarious)
ravenous (watched again, for the second time since i saw it in theaters. a horror gem, and a must-watch for horror fans. unique plot, with a great score)
an american werewolf in london (darkly hilarious. the werewolf itself cracks me up probably more than it was supposed to. )

It's how "poor" (cinematic technology wise) countries made movies in the 90s fred
And your list is all well known and good movies. From the times they actually made good movies...

Mortal Kombat opening 7 minutes.
I was joking with my friends that the movie can be almost watched in full already if you piece up all the materials they released so far XD
That said reviews are decent, some say it might be one of the best game-to-movie adaptations ever.

She was torn between fear and extreme awe at Subzero's man beauty.
edit: It's kind of interesting that Scorpion's rope knife was just a tool his wife was using for gardening.

I think the pre-release material for MK might be as fun as the movie itself
Here is a fanmade trailer that uses the "Test Your Might" epic music from the 1990s:

MK is the only video game-based movie I can think of that didn't suck lol.

[Mortal Kombat could be the start of a brand new franchise, with Sub-Zero actor Joe Taslim even revealing he signed a five-movie contract]
Heh, this should be good. Saw this in screenrant, I forget where.
On an unrelated note, I just realised that the highlander villain was a young Clancy Brown. Damn. I love this guy but I'd always seen him as an older fellow since he first appeared on my radar.

Yeah, the new MK is looking good.
There’s a good part about the guy playing Jax in an interview about how they had to slow down Taslim for the camera’s because he was too fast. Oh how Ad judo pride must be tickled here^^
What I don’t fancy too much are the women actors though. Most of them look just kind of wimps. No one has any strength on them. So great charisma has to carry them over that fact. While that’s doable(Rhona Mitra, Doomsday) it just creates doubt.

I saw the new MK on HBO. Pretty good. The movie had a lot of combat and many of the wounds were mortal. Almost the entire second half of the movie was nonstop action, which for a movie called 'Mortal Kombat' is good for me
They played pretty heavily into the Scorpion/Sub Zero rivalry. Some of the moves were pretty dope, like the katana flip at the end.
