I've just recently started playing VCMI and actually giving it a chance. I'm enjoying it a lot. Job well done so far! I'm loving the modding possibilities it has given me.

But I'm wondering if there have been any talks of a VCMI map editor? When can we expect to get to see something like it? Thanks in advance.

I'm enjoying the latest VCMI Forge a lot. I just wish we could see the graphics from Feanor's Forge as well. It looked really promising (I know that it was made for ERA/WoG but it could've easily been converted to VCMI).

why isn't the new VCMI Forge town listed in the VCMI mods list in the link on page 1?

i was going to recommend the VCMI Forge thread be stickied in the feedback thread, when i realized it would just fall under this thread anyway.

With the eventual release of a map editor, can we expect to be able to add new terrain types as well? I understand there would be a lot of work behind this (i.e. editing existing terrain types to collide with the new one, etc.) yet could it at least become possible?

I suppose some of the goals of VCMI is to make everything moddable so I hope to see it come through some day.

Current terrains are partially hardcoded in VCMI engine, so editor will only use new types, if VCMI will start supporting new types of terrain, as i think. Hope this will happen not in distant future.
But really, there are no so many new terrains DEFs. So if there will be at least few new terrains DEFs, it will speed up decision to mod them.

PS Making Zerg creep from Starcraft as terrain is cool idea, i think.

Thanks for the quick reply. I hope to see it implemented someday. Right now I'm looking at the modding guidelines as well as .json files in order to try to understand how most things work. Very pleased with the modding opportunities VCMI has enabled.

i've been gathering Zerg and Zerg-ish stuff(both objects and textures for terrain patches), to add to HoMM3. so i may have you covered, there. at least, in the future. some of it may even be incorporated into different terrains for Forge.

HELLO HEROES LOVERS !!! i am playing heroes for about 15 years now i am not much active on the forums BUT i am following every step of the way u guys are taking ) first AWSOME job to create VCMI project... u guys... are making us heroes fans so damn happy with this and now the real reason i am posting and only 1 i find it very annoying when i move my mouse around the screen and to go right or top or down or left it just doesnt open the screen... its getting stuck... after a few tries it starts working but damn its annoying... is there a fix for this ? do u know what i am talking about have any1 else encountered this problem yet ? it works good when i click on the minimap and hold and move around... but on the big screen its just getting stuck all the time... 10x for your time and sry to bother if this has been mentioned somewhere else...

It is a horrendous bug that make VCMI a pain to play, and frankly it is hard for me to believe this hasn't been fixed in all those years.

On the bright side, you don't need VCMI to play HotA or WoG.
