Ah, so either only programmers can be hardworking, or someone who has a life is born with "laziness genome".
While it may be unimaginable for you, in the real world, there're hardworking people who don't live in their mom's basement, have a family, life and a job that isn't programming.

What kind of stupid remark is that? Everyone who is programming here has a job outside programming, this is a hobby for motivated Heroes III fans. I was only responding to your twice insolent posts, like someone here has to hurry to please your needs, now.

Who says you have to be a programmer to help?̀ You didn't even check the link I provided.
http://forum.vcmi.eu/viewtopic.php?t=844
Quote: Non-programmers
- Testers. People who are willing to test features exhaustively, provide detailed bug reports and re-check fixed issues. Our bugtracker is located here.
- Modders. Since VCMI supports mods, it is the very hot topic. We need cooperating modders to manage mods, describe them, test them, provide feedback to new users. Also, many people are interested in modding tutorials and documentation. These could be resources of great use.
We also have modding FAQ for general info and tips.
- Documentation writers. Our code and architecture is poorly documented and it takes time to provide useful texts. If you are smart enough to write something and keep in touch with developers, you are mostly welcome.
- PR person responsible to contact fans, announce news, answer questions and post cool stuff over internet.
- Moderators for forum and bugtracker. Forum - to manage threads and highlit the most useful content. For bugtracker - to link bugs, describe them, close outdated issues etc.
But you prefer to complain and criticize free work made by fans.
And btw, you can play Heroes 3 "now", the game is out since 15 years.

Hi guys,
Been so long since I posted. I havent played HOMM3 for ages until recently buying the app for the ipad. Brought back so many memories. I wonder.... Will it ever be feasible to release an app for VCMI? Maybe legal issues with Ubisoft I guess.
It was really disappointing to find out that Ubisoft lost the source code for Armageddon's Blade and Shadow of Death. So vanilla HOMM3 for the ipad is the best we'll ever see. . Such a shame. AB ans SoD added soooo much to the game. As have you guys on VCMI.

It's unlikely due to legal and technical issues, but that have nothing to do with Ubisoft. VCMI is licensed under GPLv2 or later which is incompatible with App Store.
Though you can do whatever you want on jailbroken device with Cydia, but I not sure if jailbreak let application spawn processes which is currently needed for VCMI to run server.

Thanks, I guess for now I can only hope that Ubisoft rewrites code for AB and SoD. They could actually get some tips from the vcmi team.

Thread cleaned.
torrasque, I strongly suggest you read the Code of Conduct, particularly the part about insults as well as dragging threads off topic. Consider this your warning. If you really have no interest in VCMI project, as you claim, I question why you are here antagonizing other members.
I apologize to everyone for the delay. I'm out of town and my internet access from a computer is limited. You'd think I'd be able to leave for a few days without the world erupting into chaos; I'm not sure what it is about H3 Mod projects that just seems to bring out the worst in people.

There are tons of interesting, positive and creative exchanges in the mods forum, and once in every 1000 posts maybe you will have a conflict -which usually absorbs itself time before the moderator steps in.
So the claim that it brings out the worst from people is untrue, but if one visits the forum only on conflicts occasion, then sure it may mislead into generalizations.

I know that in the OSM forum, where topics like politics and religion are discussed, I have to clean threads and issue silences 10x less than here, where people are discussing modding a 20 year old computer game. 4 HCM complaints I get out of 5 are for this forum, and a majority of those are for this thread.

Well, my opinion is that people who keep advertising moderators have some agenda behind or seeking for attention, because frankly I didn't see anything against the CoC. The guy was impatient to get a working game, he got an answer, he is gone.
And if you wonder why I answered him, this is because, from my experience of having some dozens of mods uploaded in various forums or platforms, I face this uneducated attitude more than normal; people keeping me responsible about their wasted time when playing my mods and yelling insults and reproaches, while they are not able to do 1% of that stuff. Some people -a minority, is true- insist having everything now, in perfect shape, and free of course. Such people need an articulated answer.

Curious you're addressing me, since it was actually Salamander who insulted me, using various (10+), shall we say, colorful words.
"Code of Conduct"? Yeah, whatever. You're addressing the wrong person here.

Or Editor already can save maps to format understandable by VCMI?

It's opposite. There is VCMI branch that can save maps into format editor can understand
Though as far as I understand once saving working it's shouldn't be hard to support loading.

Saving and loading is being developed in parallel.
