While Rex waited for his call to be transferred to Miss Ligery, he recalled her profile. Rex skimmed through it again and recalled that she likes to pretend she's royalty. "Cr@p, if I want her help I'll have to watch myself and be on my best behavior," Rex muttered. Rex could behave himself properly if he had to, he had been an officer back in the navy so he had to learn. However Rex did not like to, he'd rather be blunt, rude and coarse.
"Lady Ligery will take your call Mister Mallard. I'm transferring you over." The voice came again. A short tune played while the call was transferred.
"Ah, Mister Mallard. I've heard of your endeavours at times. What do I owe this honour to?" This must be her.
"Yes, Miss Ligery, I have come to you in need of some aid. I'm planning a little endeavour, which I alas cannot do on my own. Are you prepared to listen?"

"I'm glad you will at least listen, miss Ligery. Now, I am in need of several items. They are currently contained at the Peafowlbay-Naval base. Now I've only recently learned that they are contained there, for the coming two days. I have concept-plan of how to procure these items, but you'll understand that I cannot disclose this plan untill you've agreed to aid me."
Rex was enjoying these games. Key was to spark someones interest and get them to agree, without telling them what they had to do yet.
"If we go by this plan, I am in need of someone who can drive a class B vehicle and someone who can guard my little operation. Naturally there is some risk in this involvement and I cannot afford these people to, how shall I put it, be squeamish. Do you think you can be of any aid to me?"

Kane entered the Beachside Motel, a rather gloomy wrecked place. Not the place you would think to look for the likes of him. He picked up his phone and called the person he had texted earlier that day.
"It's me, how's the plan coming along?" he asked.
"It's coming along great, sir!" the person on the other side answered. "We've got three rockets with 10kT vaporizing warheads, once the coordinates of the goal is set it can't be changed due to them not having any remote guidance system. If you give us the coordinates we will fire at your command. The explosion destroy absolutely everything within a couple of hundred meters."
"Perfect, just as I ordered. No one outside your group knows about it, right?"
"Of course, sir. We are professionals, just remember our payment after the job is done."
"The money will be at the place we agreed. Twenty million dollars." After Zero is gone I am broke. Kane thought to himself, angry. "I am sending you the coordinates now." ((the coordinates of Zeros penthouse, found thanks to the adress on the invitation))
"It's here, perfect. I am sending you the code for launch, then you can just call my number again and the rockets will be at their target within few minutes." the person said. "Just out of curiousity, is this terrorism or a personal vendetta? Are you aiming for a specific person?"
"If I told you I would have to kill you." Kane answered. "Now that sounded melodramatic. I don't commit terrorism, this is to take down someone very very dangerous. I cannot tell you more."
"I am not sure I want to know more either, after this do not call for me again." the person said.
"I know." Kane hung up the phone.
I cannot let Zero fulfill his plan, he is way too dangerous to let live. Kane thought, laying down on the very questionable blanket covering the bed. I'd like to see him counter something as drastic as this.
The Centermart Shoppingcenter was several miles away from the target, so both he and the rest of the villains would hopefully be out of range...

Ooh, that stung. Rex hated it when people called him Admiral. That was a name the media invented for him and Rex hated it. Not that Rex knew of a better alias, but he'd rather not people call him Admiral.
"I could hire thugs to do this, but I won't. I'd need a whole army of them to do what I need. Besides, most of them are too stupid to follow orders and they are more squeamish than they pretend to be. No, I need smart people for this. People who can stand their own and improvise. I'd need people who could do this with stealth but who can fight their way out if the need arises. But most of all, I need people who can be discrete and as few of them as possible. Obviosuly not every streetthug fits such a description."
Rex paused, as he suspected she wanted some form of payment. Rex was going to take a gamble, but one where he would not be able to loose.
"Now I know you've got plenty money, so that's not the kind of reward you'd be after. However I do know that you are technologically, mechanically and digitally incapable. I also know that you like Zero as much as I do and that you plan to do something about that." This was an educated guess, but a guess nonetheless. "That's what you'd get in return. My assistance and the use of my resources, with my discretion, in your plot. For all your money, you've not the capabilities to overthrow our gracious host from a few nights back."
If Rex guess was correct he could make as much use of her resources as she could his. She would not trust Rex, but that was mutual. But this would be a partnership out of necesity. Which were the best, because for all their betrayal, partners needed you and as long as that was the case they could not let much harm overcome you.
"Also I've some intell you might be interested in. So what say you?"

Hmmm. His offer was a sharp one. She was indeed in dire need of technology. However, she could not and would not trust him. He knew this. But he also knew no one else who could offer such services at such quality. It was widely known he was the best one around. Damn this man! This would tie her to him. Tie her more than just a passing heist. It would leave him indebted to her so it would be a positive tie. Still, he would have to be alive and kicking for her to make use of him. She didn't like this. But she didn't really have a choice. What annoyed her most was that he knew it.
"Aye, I will arrange a trusthworthy driver and a suitable vehicle. Protection if needed. Now tell me, how do you plan to stealthily steal something from a naval base with a truck nonetheless?", she was genuinely interested in his plans. She was a master thief and burglar herself and such a plan seemed almost impossile to pull off. Especially since the ships transporting the goods would mostlikely be there. A most daring plan indeed.

Smoke and tear gas grenades were thrown through the windows of the store. The duo rushed right in, killing the security guards. Vlad destroyed the cameras. Misha broke the glass of the display cases and showeled the jewelery into the backpack.
- Get the stones! They're in the back!
Vlad entered the back room, killed the guards and searched the cabinets. He found nothing similiar to Misha's description. He then looked at a crate which rested on the table. He opened it. It contained a huge uncut gemstone, and several magnificently cut stones. He stored them in his backpack.
- I got what we came for! Let's go!
Misha nodded and shot the saleslady. The two dumped the bags into Vlad's Challenger's trunk and hastily departed.

"Hahaha, now now, aren't we curious. I'm not going to just discuss this over the phone. This is a secure line, but no security is unbreakable. Not even mine. No, we're going to have to discuss this in person and more importantly in private. Any suggestions as to where we could meet?"

"There's this lovely little downtown club called Lyrium. It's loud and usually full even on sundays. They have a rather interesting crowd so you'll fit right in. In the cross of 34th and 56th. Just look out for the longest line of weirdoes and the hardest bass. You can't miss it. As for getting in. I'm sure you'll find a way. See you at the dancefloor Mister Mallard.", she hanged up and laughed.
I sure hope our good admiral isn't epileptic. Nor homophobic. It would be a shame to ruin a good evening. Lyrium was a free-for-all rave club. It was an excellent place for meetings. Loud, distrating, full of drugs and most importantly respected among the higher class. No one in his right mind would ever try to bug the place. Not that it would be possible with all the electricity running around but better be safe than sorry.

Geoffrey's phone rang. Knowing that it was Zero calling, it would be very unwise to not take the call.
"Yes, sir?" said Geoffrey into the phone.
"Move out of my penthouse, and all of my more important belongings, especially the paintings and the contents of my vault in there. Don't ask questions, just do it. I'll be back to America soon, however, I need to investigate reports of a certain character in New York city named Geist...whatever, he doesn't matter too much at the moment. Just do as I ask and make sure that all of my more important people are not there. Keep a couple random insignificants there for additional media coverage and to provoke a widespread search for the killer."
"You do not know who it is?"
"Just because I foresee things coming, it doesn't mean I know who caused these things, though I suspect it is one of my puppets attempting to kill me, but failing horribly of course. Now go, and bring all of my stuff to my manor, but set decoys to my other havens. Goodbye Geoffrey."
A few hours later, the penthouse was nearly completely cleared, leaving only a few unwanted and things and people there. Geoffrey, meanwhile, set up the valuables in Zeros manor outside of New Constantinople.

Rex snickered to himself. "Hehehe, the lass has spunk. But what, by the Kraken, is club Lyricum" Rex opened internet and looked it up. It turned out to be a nightclub, very hip, very alternative. Like Ligery said, the clientelle consisted of young rich people and weirdos. Not the kind of crowd Rex preferred. When that particular thought hit Rex he snickered to himself again. "Hehehe, not that there such a thing as a crowd I do like." She specified no time, but clubs like that were usually the most crowded during the night. Which ment that he had the rest of the afternoon to himself and most of the evening as well. Rex recalled the report he stole from the CIA. He read it again and a new plan formed, he would actually sneak the fans out. He planned a smash-&-grab, but a theft would be a welcome diferentiation to his normal method. He would need to forge some things and get some of his old uniforms out. But his plan could work and it was simple enough. Simple plans were always best. Rex knew how the armed forces operated and they would still operate the same now. Their methods had hardly changed since the Civil War, only the tools of the trade had. Rex set to work.
A good two hours later Rex felt the pang of hunger hit him. He went over to the living area and made himself a hardy meal. If he was to blend into the club he should have a drink, so would need a good botom. Rex looked at himself. "Hmm, my outfit is plenty peculiar, but it will still stand out like a sore thumb. Let's see what I can do about that." Rex went to a secluded closet in a far corner of his workshop, it contained clothes he could still wear but never did. At random he pulled some pieces out and looked at them. "Hmm, shirt, flat cap, plain cargo pants. Should be good enough. And those cargos should have enough pockets to bring some things along, like a gun or some forged documents." Rex walked back with the clothes and laid them on the bed for now. Rex looked at his watch 18:58. "Far to early, what can I do to fill my time?" Rex walked over to his mainframe and recalled the energyweapon-blueprint he had recieved. He printed them out with a graphite-printer and put it down on his drawingboard. "Let's start by rubbing out all the faults." He grabbed an eraser and started to rub out lines and specifications. Some time later Rex grabbed a pencil in each hand and started drawing. Rex looked up from his work and was satisfied. This design should work. He looked at his watch again: 22:45. Time to get dressed.

Cecilia is shuffling through one of her cabinets. An emerald corset? Yes, that would do fine. Something purple to match. Hmmm. A skirt? No, too boring. Leggings? Naah. Leatherpants? A little too cliche. Shorts? Hmmmm. Black shorts. Yes. Tight black shorts. A little too plain so they need something to draw attention. Red nets? Yes, they would do fine. Simple shoes so she can move well. Red eyeshadow, dark green lips and free, messy hair to top it of. Yes that would fit well. Now just some evening snack before dress up...
A black mercedes parks on the street lighted by Lyrium's lights. The hard music can be heard clearly. The driver walks out to open the right side rear door. S.P.E.C.I.A.L. slowly rises out of the car. As she makes her way to the doormen heads turn away from the waiting line to gaze upon her. She doesn't take any notice and continues to walk in with her head held up high. From the inside Lyrium looks like a small tower. It has three levels, all with glass floor the ground floor having mirror under it. Everywhere is filled with almost unbearably loud music and flashing lights. Second floor is filled with smoke. She heads down to the railsteps leading down to the first floor. A drunken man tries to grab her ass. She catches his hand and breaks four of his fingers in a single flip of her hand not even slowing down. This is her hunting ground. Those trying to play with her are way out of their league. They are sheep. She is a tiger. Above them, with the right to do as she pleases. She passes by a woman offering her some "hightened thrill" on the stairs. There are three people dancing on small stages hanging from chains. Two women and one man. S.P.E.C.I.A.L. leaps from the steps catching the chain of the first one and slides down to the woman dancing on it. The two dance face to face for a while then S.P.E.C.I.A.L. kisses her and backflips down to the dancefloor.
She land between three women who look like they are barely 16. The three stare at her.
"YOU THREE CAN'T DANCE FOR ****", she shouts over the pumping music.
"WHAT! WHAT DO YOU KNOW!", one of them shouts back. A violet haired one.
"MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER LEARN!", she shouts and grabs a silver haired one. She pushes her down as she leans back and grabs the last of the duo. Yellow haired one. She grabs her hands and slides them along her body.
"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!", the violet haired one shouts. S.P.E.C.I.A.L. pulls her over.
"KEEPING YOU OUT OF TROUBLE!", she nods back to the stairs where a man in a suit and dark sunglasses is searching the crowd.
"YOUR FATHER'S I PRESUME! NOW DANCE!", she raises the girls hands up and brushes off against her body with her own. The crowd closes back on the space and the three girls keep dancing with S.P.E.C.I.A.L. in between. She is enjoying herself to the fullest now teasing and abusing the three girls, who definitely got more than they bargained for from their runaway from their, without a doubt, humongously rich daddies. But all good things must come to an end. Where's Mallard?

Rex got out of the shower, dried himself, put on some boxers and walked to the mirror. "Now we've got to do something about that walrus moustache of yours." Rex grabbed a can of moustache-grease and put a good helping on his whiskers. He pulled them down gently and formed them into a general horshoe-shape. Then he grabbed a can of biological shoe polish and spread a good helping over all his hair. It made his gray hair look like it was just about to start greying. "Takes years of ya, old buddy," Rex said to his reflection grinning wide. Rex put on the clothes he had prepared. Rex looked at himself again. It would have to suffice, he looked younger now. He'd play the man-in-midlifecrisis part. Rex pulled a pistol out of his coat, then took his shirt of again. He strapped himself into a shoulderholster, put the gun in and pulled the shirt back on. As long as he wasn't patted down, nobody would notice. Rex put the papers he prepared in his pockets and then proceeded to fish a box of cigars out of a drawer in his living area. "The gift I got from that client finally comes in handy." He stuffed the box down a more spacious pocket and put a book of matches down as well. Rex walked over to his Dodge and got in.
Rex drove over to the street Ligery specified. Indeed there was a club there with many flickering lights and a loud bass. He specification of the line outside the club was correct as well, never had Rex seen such a huge gathering of people with such questionable taste. "I'm not going to stand in that line if I have anything to say about it." Rex drove around the block, parked his car and slipped into the alley behind the club.
When Rex aproached what seemed to be the backdoor of the club, he spotted one of the guards smoking. 'That's bad,' Rex thought. 'Wait, no. I know that man.'
"By the Kraken, Tyrone. What are you doing here."
The guard looked up from his cigarette. Tyrone was a huge gorrila of a man, his Afro-american heritage helped to enforce that image. He used to be one of Rex direct subordinates when he was still in the Navy and of all of the men that worked under him in that time Tyrone was one of the more likeable. Tyrone spotted Rex and sprung to attention. "At ease, buddy. We're not on the sea no more. We're both civilians now."
"Rex Mallard, how you been doin for yerself? How's Ellen?" That sparked a bad memory and Tyrone did not know, he left the navy long before Rex. "Ah man, you don't know, do ya? I cancelled the wedding. Whenever I was at sea, that b!tch shared a cosy port-side cabin with Rear Admiral Brady! I haven't seen her since and if I do I'm liable to have an accident. How bout you?"
Tyrone looked at Rex with what seemed like sympathy, Rex could not tell anymore. "Been in security ever since I left, now I'm a guard at this club." He thumbed behind him. "Pay's good and all the chicks I can handle." They both chuckled. "So what mission you on now, you're still in the Navy?"
"Nah, man. I'm in business for my self now. Got a quaint little gunshop on the westside of town." 'That's not even a lie,' Rex thought to himself. He did have a little building in the westside, where he conducted most of his illegal business when he did such things. "Exclusive guns for exclusive clients, if you catch my drift."
Tyrone chuckled. "Ah, black market stuff. Best town in the world for such business. Maybe I'll swing by one of these days."
"Best give a call ahead, I'm not open to general public." Rex slipped him a piece of paper. He might actually help this man, if just for old times sake. "But can you get me in the club? I got dumped yesterday, need a stiff drink and maybe some more. Hook an old buddy up and all that."
"Sure, you could not have picked a better club. Hot chicks enough, but they's a bit kinky if you catch my drift." Tyrone winked and opened the backdoor for Rex. "Head on in, man. If they askin questions say you know me. I still got some credit with the boss." Rex headed to the door, but Tyrone noticed Rex hand. "Hold up man, what happened to your hand?"
'Not the question I need right now.' "I caught it 'tween a starbord engine few years back. Some lout started it while I was tinkering with it. But I made this myself," Rex held his hand up, "and it's even better than the original."
Tyrone chuckled again. "Should have guessed, you always could fix anything and everything. Not that it will stand out much here, I've seen people wearing much weirder contraptions. Oh and don't bother smoking on anything but the second floor."
Rex headed into the club.
After passing through the employee area Rex entered the club. The racket that passed for music here was loud enough to make you go deaf. Rex headed to the bar, all the while amazing himself over the questionable tastes of the people in here. Rex sat down on one of the few stools. The girl behind the bar looked pretty normal considering, Rex waved her over. "GET ME A DOUBLE SCOTCH." She nodded and pulled a bottle out of the rack and poured him a double. She handed it over and pointed to the prices. Rex payed her the money, not something he usually did but he did not want to stand out much tonight. Rex took a sip and shivered. Cheap bourbon for mixes, not the kind he usually drank. Rex waved the girl over again. "CHANGED MY MIND, MAKE IT ON THE ROCKS." The girl shrugged and put a few cubes of ice in the glass. Rex looked on his watch, 23:45. He scanned the first floor. He spotted Ligery. She also made an effort to fit in, her outfit was plenty weird. Their eyes connected, Rex winked and concentrated on his drink again, the ice definatly helped. Let her aproach him, he was pretty comfortable here, on a stool near the bar.

the house was a reasonably nice one, and the kids had been rather co-operative befor they were skewered on various bits of cutlery. the translation engine had given some rather interesting things, and there was a nice little book on caligraphy on the shelf. Palmer had to work fast. the head of the russian was beginning to seep through the bottom of the bag.
"and... there."
the blood was carefully etched in almost perfect chinese script. If nothing else, it looked impressive. and considering the amount of cocaine and guns in the man's basement, if he wasn't high up, he was certainly fairly up there. on the bag was written a single message for his employers.

S.P.E.C.I.A.L. notices Mallard on the second floor. He winks at her. So he wants her to come to him. So be it then. She spins the silver haired girl around, pulls her close and kisses her passionately.
"SORRY HON! GOTTA GO!!", she spins to her backside and tenderly kisses her neck.
"Let's do this horizontal sometime!", she says so only she can hear before vanishing into the crowd and leaving the girl blushing up to her ears in front of her friends.
S.P.E.C.I.A.L. sits down two stools right from Mallard.
"RUSSKI STANTARD WITH LIME!", she shouts to the bartender. While waiting for her drink she looks at Mallard.
"YOU SHOULD ASK FOR A BRAND!", she points at his glass.
"THEY'LL GIVE YOU THE RUN DOWN OTHERWISE!", she shouts over the music.

"WOULD YOU BELIEVE AN ALBATROSS FLEW AWAY WITH IT? I'LL KEEP THAT ADVICE IN MIND THOUGH." The bartender brought Ligery her drink. Vodka with lime. Rex didn't like Vodka, that stuff was best used as lighterfluid as he had witnessed all to often back in the Navy. Meanwhile Rex pulled out a cigar, lit it and puffed a few times on it. 'These tastes pretty good,' Rex thought to himself. He offered the box to Ligery, she shook her head. Rex shrugged, her loss.

Tyrone walked through the crowd on the floor below, holding up some youngster by the scruff of his neck. Rex waved at him, he winked back. Rex chuckled again and sucked on his cigar, these were to good to pass through the lungs. "You don't know what you're missing," he said with smoke billowing from his mouth.
