Then Inferno shouted something else, but it was not quite clear what he said. Rex sighed.
"By the Kraken! It's hard to have a nice dinner and talk some business with all these distractions. Either we put him over a barrel and teach him some manners, or you go out there and appease him with with any nonsense info you can think of. I suggest you do the latter as it is probably faster and easier. Besides I'm not realy carrying much equipment for a fight. But if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears. We'll continue this when that brat stops bothering us."

"Ahh...may as well try." replied Redfox with a heavy exasperation. He then went outside to the burning hulk of rock and flame that was Inferno and said, "Listen here, Xion is one of my rivals in the corporate underworld. He helps my enemies in the tech business. If you want to see him, meet him at the 9th street pier at tomorrow, at midnight. He's always there for his employers. Now please, leave me in peace."
Inferno simmered in anger, but decided not to attack the man standing in front of him. As SWAT teams and more policemen arrived, Inferno ran away while Redfox returned to Rex inside Louis'.

As Redfox sat down, the apatizers were already served. Rex swallowed a scallop.
"They served while you were out. Where were we? Oh yes, I remember. If Zero's servants are turning on him, that would make for an interesting development. Though it is doubtfull that they can be of more use than to simply gain us entrance. If they can turn on Zero they can just as easy turn on us."
Rex ponderously chewed on another piece of shellfish.
"This Morte fellow is something I had not accounted for yet, but then again he was thought dead. He was your adoptive father, was he not? Also he used to be a pioneer of the Grey Goo that you so love, if I recall correctly. So, I would have little interest in his inventions. However, if he could animate dead tissue, I would like to look over his files."
Rex took another bite.
"As for Sidewinder, he is of no interest to me whatsoever. Carie is of interest to me though. And then in the way that I'd rather not have her along. She's a complete liability."
'So are you, Xion,' Rex thought, 'though in a somewhat lesser degree.'
"However you were never very specific as to what my role in this little venture would be. So enlighten me."

Xion chuckled and replied, "Morte did more than just research nanotechnology. He and Zero worked on many other things like that arm you have right there, just not quite as big. They were also always developing something hidden from me. I could never find out what it was, but I suspect they were building some sort of weapon. Anyways, we would need you for two reasons. One is that we would probably need some extra muscle against Morte and Zero. Two is that your input and ideas on the spot could always be useful to us. Also, I'm sure you are not content with Zero sitting on he throne of the underworld are you? This can be your chance to kick him off."

The door exploded and Kane threw himself out of bed to avoid the explosion. The blade were in his hand, ready to for whatever approach his enemy chose. Someone stepped through the opening, walking slowly toward the bed. Kane heard him, the steps sure and firm against the floor. He looked under the bed quickly, and guessed from the shadow that the person was large. He were also close. He leaped away from the bed, rolling and getting up to his feet just in front of the other person.
He didn't hesitate a second, despite the size of the other person, slashing toward the persons throat with his blade. To his surprise he missed, the other person gliding away with a grace that didn't fit his size or gear. Kane launched a front kick toward the solar plexus, knocking the person a step backward. "Well you're a big one now, aren't you." he growled, mockingly.
The man simply looked at him, his eyes empty of life, then a pair of hidden daggers appeared in his hands and they were on each other at once. Kane caught one wrist to stop the attack and used his long dagger to block the other one, using the momentum of the larger person to get a good knee to the ribs. It hurt Kane more than the other person. Reinforced ribs! What the hell is going on?
he thought, spinning around with a slash to the other mans thigh. He were caught on the nose by a powerful strike, sending him backward into the room. He hurried to his feet again, and watched in terror as the thigh-wound closed up. The man used the pause to slip a shotgun into his hands, swifter than Kane would have been able to himself, and fired a shot straight in the villains chest. Kane stumbled back, but his new treatment saved him from any serious damage. He turned on the spot and threw himself out the window, landing on his back on the pavement and having his breath knocked out of his lungs.
He found a car, ducking slightly as more shots were fired from the window, and hotwired it. I have to get out of here. he span down the street, escaping the scene where people started to emerge. In his mirror he saw the man exiting the building, walking slowly down the street with his shotgun hanging straight down by his side.
"Seems like the Doctor wants to get rid of me." he growled, then picked up and called Vlad.

Vlad's phone rang. the news bulletin was still going on, and Vlad was really pissed about missing the game. He disliked checking up the scores on the web, because seeing it live was much more thrilling for him. He picked up his phone.
- Yes? Kane? WHAT? Scumbag... no, not you. Here's the deal. lure him to the outskirts of the town, specifically near that abandoned farmstead about fifteen kilometers from the town. I'll be waiting for you and your "friend" there.- He hung up.
"Time to unload the big guns"- Vlad thought and opened one of many crates that were stockpiled in his warehouse, and looked at the selection there. Few experimental laser rifles and several other energy weapons, which Vlad used only on very special occasions. and this was one such occasion. he picked one of the latter due to it's superior firepower and speed. After gathering all his gear he sat in his freshly "bought" Navara, and drove off to meet Kane

Rex grinned wolfishly and unplugged his hand and showed his wrist-socket.
"Just a hand, my good boy. And muscle isn't my style. Firepower is."
Rex plugged his hand back in. The main course arrived and Rex ate a piece of his ribeye before he continued.
"As for Zero, no. I do not like him playing kingpin in this town. However I am equally fearfull of who will fill in the power-vacuum. But tell me your exact plans, I want to know how we plan to do this."

Kane left his car and ran the last kilometer, damn thing had run out of gas too fast. He stopped when reaching the abandoned farmsteads, listening. Not a sound except for a faint helicopter sound. He turned around and his eyes widened. A prototype war-helicopter was heading directly for him, closing the distance with amazing speed.
"Damn." Kane whispered, then sprinted away from it through the farmsteads shouting. "Vlad, where the hell are you? I hope you brought heaps of firepower!"

As Inferno ran, his flame dwindled until it was turned to smoke. He then dodged into an alleyway and waited. Because of his armor's dark color, the natural darkness of the alleyway, and smoke coming off of him, the police could not find him. Eventually he came out and saw no one. He wandered the streets for a while until he saw someone that looked like Kane fly out the window and onto the street, where he got into a car, which was probably someone else's and drove off. Inferno knew it was Kane, seeing as he recovered from his fall easily and took someone else's car as was his style. Then another much bigger man jumped out and landed like it was nothing. He ran off extremely quickly and Inferno did not have the speed to follow him, so Inferno went in the direction Kane's car did. He then came to the top of a hill, where he saw what looked like Kane's car drive out towards the outskirts of New Constantinople.
"AHHH!" yelled out a man from behind Inferno. Inferno turned around, slightly perplexed at the sight of a rotund middle aged man point at him and stutter, "Y-y-yer th-that Infernal guy aren't you!"
"Infernal guy?" thought Inferno raising his eyebrow. He then "flamed on" as the Human Torch would put it and then say in his darkened voice, "Yeah...I'm that Infernal guy...now get out of here!"
The man shrieked and ran for his life while Inferno was chuckling whilst looking out towards the outskirts of the city. He then saw a helicopter go and follow Kane's car.
"That big guy must be in there." thought Inferno as he looked for a way to get to Kane before the big guy took him out. He then thought, "Maybe I can fix my flame so that the stuff on me acts as extra muscles..."
Inferno heated himself up, turning to a bright red color and then jumped, landing on a building 100 feet away from the hill. He grinned and then hopped building to building until he reached the sloped roofs of the suburban homes, near the outskirts of the city.
Meanwhile at Louis'...
Xion took a sip of his port and replied to Rex, "I am not entirely sure yet. We shall have to speak with Sidewinder and his associates. By the way, are you working on another one of your mechs by any chance?"

"Watch out." the Doctor said in his microphone, ordering Eight. "Inferno is closing in on your destination. Fire five heatseeking rockets in ten seconds, two seconds between each."
He then sat back to watch the show both from above and through the eyes of Eight.

Inferno saw a load of missiles coming his way from the helicopter as he got out of the suburbs of New Constantinople.
"Uh...uh..." muttered Inferno as he looked for a way to survive the missiles. "Aha!"
Inferno focused and released hot air from within his armor carapace to fire chunks of rock from him, destroying most of the missiles, but there was one of them coming right at him still. Inferno jumped high up quickly as the missile hit the ground, propelling Inferno into the air.
"Oh craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap...!" yelled Inferno as he came back down to earth, landing in a mud filled ditch.

"Did he get him?" the Doctor muttered and looked at the screen. The heatsignatures from the explosion blocked his view of Inferno. "Three more rockets, then continue your hunt for Kane."

As Inferno lay in the damp ditch, he heard more rockets being fired.
"Oh you've gotta be kidding me..." muttered Inferno as looked around for something else to save him. He spotted a pond nearby and guessing that his enemy was using heat seeking missiles, turned off all heat and dived straight into the middle of the murky pond. The missiles went close, but not seeing Inferno, went for the hottest target closest to where Inferno was: the ditch that Inferno landed in, which was still lit on flames.

Inferno climbed out of the muddy pond in which he had jumped in completely filthy. He exasperated and heated himself up to harden the mud on his armor and steam the water, but not enough to let himself be noticed by the man in the helicopter. Inferno then ran as fast as he could towards Kane, trying to save him from the flying menace.

Vlad drove to the farmstead that he directed Kane to. When he arrived, he found the fight already going on. He lowered the window of the car, and fired at the helicopter's tail, grounding it, permanently. Several other shots of blueish energy bolts were unleashed onto the disabled vehicle, hitting the weapon enplacements.

Eight looked over at the newest threat, which is considered most dangerous, and from within the helicopter he drew a pair of automatic guns from his waist.
"You were hit from your right, there's a car fifty meter away from where you landed." he heard in his ear, the Doctor assisting the way he could.
He went out on the opposite side, being invisible to whoever was in the car, and snuck to the rear of the helicopter for best cover and vision of the enemy. He took a quick look, making sure he wouldn't be seen and just figuring out where the car was, and then fired.

The bullets hit the armored vehicle, doing minimum damage to it, however, the windows were it's weak spot. Vlad got out of the car with all his gear plus a really large pipe wrench that was lying around the truck. Vlad got around the attacker, got begind him, and mauled him in the head with the wrench.

Eight staggered one step forward, turning around with a spin kick and sending Vlad several steps back. Just the same second Kane arrived, crashing into the larger man with all the force he could muster. They both went down, but Eight had both arms around his waist before he could react. The mans speed was incredible, and his strenght was beyond anything Kane could hope to outmatch on his own. Kane jammed his knife toward the other ones stomach, but it slid away on what seemed to be plate armor.
Eight threw him five meters away, but now he had one opponent on each side.

Vlad shook his head and aimed with his energy weapon at the attacker.
