Why no love for the Thalmor?

I can only speak for myself, but for me it works out thus:

1.) Even if I didn't care about the whole torturing-and-killing-people-for-worshiping-Talos bit
2.) And even if I was willing to overlook the fact that they're behind the whole civil war and have made lots of people miserable by getting their sons and daughters killed fighting each other
3.) And even if I felt like ignoring the snobby condescending attitude on EVERY single one of them towards my poor character
4.) They still tried to kill me without provocation.

Since I DO mind the first three points, it just makes me happy to wipe the floor with them instead of vaguely regretful that it's me or them.

Adrius, is modding particularly difficult?

You mean doing your own mods or just installing them?

Installing them is as easy as getting Nexus Mod Manager and then clicking download on mods on Skyrim Nexus (of course checking requirements is recommended). The only extra things you'll likely need are SKSE (Skyrim Script Extender, allows Skyrim to perform much more complicated scripts) and BOSS (Better Oblivion Sorting Software, automatically sorts you load order to avoid conflicts).
The Nexus has really helpful tutorial videos on the subject.

Creating your own mods is... depends on what ya wanna do. Again, the Nexus has great tutorials. I mostly just modify other people's work to better suit my characters.

Wrye Bash is better than Nexus Mod Manager but perhaps a little more complicated. There is a good tutorial though.

The second one; I'm having trouble finding a Paarthurnax mod I like and am trying to figure out if it's worth the trouble to make my own.

Edit:

Although since we're on the subject anyway is it particularly tricky to uninstall mods WITHOUT a mod manager? I'd like to avoid conflicts between mod managers and I don't want to download ten of them in any case. >.>

Paarthurnax mod... sounds like scripting. Can't help ya there

What do you want? Maybe I know of a mod that does it.

It can be very tricky to manually uninstall mods... unless it's packed into a BSA archive (not very common) it's packed in loose files, meaning you have to remember which files belong to the mod and remove them all manually.

Also if you overwrote files when you installed it they won't come back, while a mod manager puts the old files back again without effort.

Not sure why you'd need 10 mod managers, but I doubt they'd cause more conflicts than what you'd end up with doing manual installation of mods

I used to have the nexus one for ages but it doesn't work that well if there are mods that are installed manually.

That's why I changed to wrye bash where I can manually install mods and it can still register them into the list and keep track of all the files. Whoosh, all conflicts gone forever.
It also has Boss and SKSE incorporated into it for ease of use.
Only drawback is that you have to manually download the mods, cannot use nexus DL manager.

Are you looking for something like The Paarthurnax Dilemma? =P

With this mod you can tell the Blades to fu** off and punch the delphine's face a bit.

I want the Blades to stop hating me without killing Paarthurnax, but I want something more in-depth than "install this mod and poof you're friends again!" A quest line or something similar would be ideal. This one would have been ideal...but by the comments on the Steam Workshop version it's buggy and the maker never got around to the "future plans" bit. And as it was last updated in August I don't think they're coming back.

@jhb: Saw that too, but by the comments on that one your char basically throws a temper tantrum and the Blades back down. I don't want to do that. Now if I got to yell at the writers on the other hand...

Ok what, my Skyrim just started downloading a 1.5 Gb update. Anyone have an idea what it is? The game should be up-to-date & something that big is kinda weird. I fail to find anything to read about the update

Massive bugs they must be, then. I got no dlcs though, not sure why it'd update my game. Oh well, I'll see when it's finished.

Okay, that's nice. Would be quite cool to inform people of such big updates before though.

Regarding Skyrim, haven't really played it a lot lately. Might check some new mods and see if they'd get me interested again. Or does anyone recommend the dlcs? Worth the weight?
