Starting to hate the game... after 3 weeks...
That's right, I'm not kidding.
I own absolutely every Heroes - collector version. I'm a fan since 15 years. That's alot of money. I was never as disappointed as much as with Heroes 6.
Even Heroes 5 with Nival did a far better job.
There are a number of wrong things in this Heroes... jesus christ.
No rmg, few maps, no random selection, few portrait, useless legion mode (hundreds pit lord 1000+ ravagers ... really black hole ? really ?), lots of bugs, No town screen, horrible campaign clearly on a small budget, cruel lack of contents, imbalanced, oversimplified... the list goes on and on and on.
It had the potential, but I think it will never meet our expectation.
So many wrong points. I want to love this game, but this is really impossible.
I WILL NOT buy the expansions and stop the Heroes 6 adventure given it doesn't fix ALL of the aforementionned problems. And that's ALOT.

It's true though, the more one keeps playing this game, the more they realize how bad it is.
I still think it can be the best but it can also be the worst.

This game just needs several patches and two expansions to be considered "finished".
Compare vanilla 1.00 H5 with ToTe final patch - it's like comparing wolfenstein3d with Half life 2.

Curious what's to like. Most of them sound like "They told me to come here and read these lines, one guy even mentioned things like intonation and emotional charge but I didn't quite understand what he meant". Above all though, I wish Goink to be sodomized by a pack of rabid Cyclopes every time I hear his fatuous comments. A tribute to the Heroes V dialogues I guess and a very good one at that.
On a side note X-ecutionner, it really seems very strange when one and the same person starts two topics about how good and how bad the game is. Looks inconsistent, to say the least.

Wait you dont find Goink awesome? he seems pretty much like the perfect example of a goblin, and when you imagine him being launched by h5 Cyclopses while spouting nonsence you cant say that dousnt put a smile on your face. Kraal also sounds decent and i personaly love the voice of Anastasya. Inferno well after the yoyfull ending of the first level of the campaign i became to mezmerised for critisism. all that remains are the asian naga's whose voice sound like nails scratching a chalk board.

Goink is a pathetic attempt to add humor to the atmosphere so yeah, he's an utter failure. A very irritating one too. I don't think that there is a "pattern" of how a goblin should sound like but if there is - that's not Goink.
On the other hand I find the idea of him being half-snapped off by a Cyclops and his remainder thrown at the enemy rather adorable.

For a Goblin Goink is Rather brave, He wont defect if 70% of his stack has been annihilated and this is a whole lot knowing that Goblins are the Stereotype of Backstabbing Cowards while being amongst the lowest of the lowest. For such a pathetic creature ( wich goblins really are) Goink is truly Brave. For some reason the Orks remind me of Warhammer's Ogre kingdoms tho.

Zehir and Raelag were pathetic attempts to add humor to the atmosphere. Goink is a rather well done example of a goblin stereotyp as well in actions as in sound. And if you ask how I judge how does a goblin suppose to sound, then I would describe it as a high pitched shallow growl voice (used in metal music) with an maniacal tone.
Examples from music (gener-> Folk Metal)
Nekrogoblikon (US) - Gobins are better the troll
Horde Thor - Goblins fire
Goinks voice actor is actually one of the best in the game. He actually puts something like feelings and emotions into his speach. IMHO He, Azzkal and the faceless are the best voices in the game. You want to highlight a very bad voice acting in the game. Try listening to all the three angels, and the tell me that you do not have the tension to slit there throats in the midle of a sentence.

Irini's personality is horrible, and her voice is completely obnoxious. In some ways I'm routing for the demons to kill her.
I'm personally not bored with the game by any means.

Goink is as funny as any sitcom's character, which is... not funny at all. For me, he ranks as one of the worst characters in the game and the competition there is plenty and tough.

But he is a Goblin he dous and says all the things you expect from a goblin so in that point he is a verry well fitting character.

They really have to do something great with the patch to change the momentum here. I believe that just a good patch won't save them.

Agreed!
They better already have the next patch and/or the first expansion underway and not far off after we get Patch 1.2 because this alone won't cut it in making this game enjoyable.

Well, after having tried some little random stuffs in this heroes, the second solution => My love for the game turned almost into hate.
The story is "ok" for Sanctuary / Stronghold, sucks HORRIBLY for the rest. Inferno campaign is especially bad, with Kiril being such a stupid character I wanted him to die.
Quote: On a side note X-ecutionner, it really seems very strange when one and the same person starts two topics about how good and how bad the game is. Looks inconsistent, to say the least.
That means its potential is currently wasted into a mediocre Heroes, what else ?

Then you are lucky: Seriously, why the snow adding Dynasties Weapons except for UB-DRM ? Why Legion mode - which was clearly useless ?
Why giving a story for every avatar whereas people don't even care ?
All this money could have gone to Town screens. HELL, even a zoom into your castle and a creature view would have been enough !

Troll on : Orson Welles would have rated it as one of the worst scenario ever ? lol

Problem is this patch will mostly be bug-fixing, and while this probably should make the game more enjoyable, I wouldn't expect much added content, so what you see now is still probably what you'll have after the patch.

Which leads to a critical question : Was the Heroes of Might& Magic project "too much" for BlackHole to handle ?

I personally do not see any chance of the Patch chaging the opinions of those who already got upset by the games state. Unless it brings a half tone of content (10+ maps, new objects or a new faction). And these people will not bother with any gameplay until the game is in its almost final stage (3.1/3.2).
The rst of us will play the game, give feedback but most of us will not be enthusiastic. More like a silent observer fallowing the moto of "you have potential, but prove that you can stand up to it)

It had the potential, but I think it will never meet our expectation.
You're actually a good example of why I think the whole "potential" argument is basically meaningless. Sure, Heroes IV also had the potential of being the best in the series in its day, as V did and now VI. All the previous installments had interesting ideas that were ultimately marred by awful, business-oriented decisions like rushing a beta to market and concentrating on the dressing for the casual crowd/reviews, all the while neglecting aspects concerning the meat of the gameplay. No amount of backstory or pokemon-juggling distractions can completely hide this simple fact (not counting fans who could live happily with just the tactical combat - the slow morph into King's Bounty shouldn't bother them that much). I believe the crux lies not in this convenient notion of potential, but in execution. And that aspect looks as dire as it ever was post-HOMMIII. Worst, I see no sign of this changing for eventual new games, as Ubi's approach continues to be commercially sound - witness all the 8-ish reviews the game is getting (just like HOMMIV did!)
I see Heroes VI, as it stands, as easily the most crippled of all versions to date - and here I'm not only referring to the strategy abstractions or to one of the most brazenly broken AIs the series has seen, but also to the lackluster non-campaign content included/enabled, which seems to shrink with each iteration. Sadly, unless an expansion comes that radically fixes things somehow, at this point it seems to me VI is poised to have the shorter legs of them all.
