Quote: I gave up playing totally, and thought I would revist when 1.2 is released... but I doubt that now. I'll wait for an expansion but it's more likely going to take 2 expansions to make playing more satisfying.
That's sad. Also good luck on posting at UBI Heroes forum, as they censor every freaking post that flames...

Lemme clarify "small, idiot companion".
Snarf from Thundercats, Orko from He-Man, Slimer from Ghost Busters. They all fall under the same stereotype of "small, idiot companion". And in many lists of top 10 worst cartoon characters of all time, these three make it. Goink is far worse than slimer and orko but not snarf. He's not funny, he's written by hack writers, he's obvious, he's an old concept, he adds nothing new or interesting. in short he's a bore and cringe worthy.
If you want an interesting Goblin-type character or what they should have done with Goink is maybe made him incredibly sarcastic, given him lines that would actually make you laugh and you feel like hey, i want this guy on my team.

Troll, obviously.
@Dave_Jame, you can like him as much as you want and think of him whatever you like, I'm not denying you that right at all, but please, do allow me to find him terrible if that's my opinion about him, mkay? And if you are going to mention Might & Magic, please remember the M&M VI and VII Goblins, especially the M&M VII ones. Quite different from Goink but unlike him the "Serve yourself!" greeting from the Goblin bartenders in M&M VI made me chuckle.

Is the Might & Magic serie interesting ? Never tried any of them, which one would you recommend ?

Kind of sad that this topic is the most active atm. Not without merit though.
This is so far the only game in the franchise which I have little to no desire to keep playing. The senseless grind to get achievements/level up dynasty weapons (a painfully slow process to get something to level 5 I think. Never made it past 3.) as well as the rampant bug/unbalances that everyone keeps hammering on about.
Not going to claim it is a horrible or even bad game. But personally it did not fit my tastes.

The Might and Magic series is good if your into old school RPGs and if you can stand the outdated graphics.
I think Might and Magic 6 and 7 are worth trying, i remember 7 as my favourite.

Starting to really hate the game 'cause of the crashes. Everything else was cool but from the 4th mission in Haven campaign onwards, the game seems to crash every big battle and I can't even play anymore. It didn't crash earlier before wonder why. Just lately. I like the game, but the crashing is intolerable.

Artifacts is actually one aspect I have little problem with. it's generally that.
A. place of visit is too few. H5 was basically the same as H2-H4 but H6 must have reduced it by close to 50%, and that's NOT counting creature dwelling's going from 7 per fation to 3.
B. the removal of war machine was annoying. espeically since now first aid tent might actually do something.
C. likewise, the removal of ammo limit was pretty dumb.
D. I think they made heal in general way too good, i'm not against that you can heal back alive but those ability need to be more rare than that. right now it's a massive advantage to less HP units because of this, and given that teir was already reduced, it's no wonder why Champion creatures are generally afterthoughts (espeially since their dwellings are still very expensive)
I think heal's level should change, regen / mass regen should not heal back alive but add a lvl 15 spell (troll regen) that do regen back to alive for example, heal also should not revive but maybe remove some negative spells (physically related debuffs) with a lvl 3 ressurection spell. same for life drain, with a lvl 3 vampirc drain.
Right now it's simply too easy to score perfect victory, with the exception of maybe going up against phoniex or something similar you'd almost always score perfect vic unless the odds are REALLY bad. that's kinda silly..
So I would in general suggest
A. weaken heal abilities considerablly, nerf necro units in general (well mostly just Lich and probably specter too) to compensate.
B. bring back war machine and ammo limits.
C. give back as many place of visit as possible.
D. return to H5's caravan structure, that was logical and good.

Weakening the potency of healing spells means that if someone takes some casualties, they are just going to dick around for extra turns if they are able until the spell is refreshed again while avoiding the enemy stack(s). Plus they would become even less impressive than they already are for an actual pvp fight, since right now their main place is for creeping.
There are two facets that make it so much easier to avoid loses these days:
The obvious one that everybody is talking about; there are multiple ways to heal your army, both from your hero and from your units. Plus almost every unit that I can think of offers at least some advantage in creeping. Even with tormentors you can wait for them to move at the end of turn, then on the next turn they can use their Exploding Spikes. Stuff like that. With noobopolis, if you take a single healing-type spell you're automatically going to have three sources of healing: from yourself, your necromancy, and your ghosts. I mean... damn. Brb, masturbating to pictures of Aunt Sveltanna while my pet cat is able to successfully creep for me.
The 2nd reason is that a lot of units don't actually use their abilities. Dreamwalkers have one of the most badass abilities in the game, but when you fight them, they don't even use it. They're just like "meh" and run up and try to bushwhack you with their mutant arm. If every unit used their special abilities that would definitely help with making them more of an obstacle.
It's more reasonable with Stronghold and Inferno, but with Haven/Noobro/Sanctuary you have multiple healing sources at your disposal that at times can let you play downright sloppily.

Especially when you bought Collector edition like me - I got nicely tricked ... 80 € whereas there are better games for 5 € on steam or gamersgate...

Is that really true? I mean, do you people really play on highest difficulty?
The campaigns... forget them. As soon as they started to puit serious money into voice acting, cut scenes and other nonsense, it was clear that you'd be led by a leash from one scene to the next.
But the dozen or so standalone maps. Simply picking "HARD" difficulty is not the hardest difficulty, actually.
If you pick Hard and then to customizing, you can set starting creature amount from normal to hard and switch on aggressive AI. When you set up the game and pick Hard AI for the AI opponents, it stops beeing noobish on most of the maps.

There is no relation between what you quoted and your reply. It is VERY OBVIOUS that you find acceptable the current state of the game (on the other hand you seem also to have insider info so at least in my mind judging your reactions I believe you are just a bit biased ). Until the game is playable, I have my doubts on the AI being that good on the settings you mention but I will take your word for now. However, keep in mind the AI issues are just a small part of the overall issues H6 has.

the relation would be that people claim they creep without losses. but at the same time are not playing on the hardest setting. so really should be doing that Before complaining creeping is to easy.
i hope i helped you understand it

That's what I meant.
What I like here is the fact that you can really set the game's difficulty to the level you want on so many areas.
Like I said, when you pick HARD difficulty, difficulty isn'T set on hardest possible. Starting amount of troops is still on NORMAL, and you have to set manually to HARD, which will raise troops. Additionally, since you start with only 2500 money and 0 resources, you can't just start building to reinforce your lonely starting hero; you will have to fight immediately with what you get.
Playing on Normal Levelling speed (as opposed to faster) won't make it easier. Playing OFFLINE will make it even harder.
And playing with Hard AI opponents is another thing.
What I'm wondering about, is whether anyone DOES play hardest and STILL finds it noobish.
I have to add that the actual state of the game is unsatisfactory - it doesn't exactly motivate to play a lot due to a lot of annoying bugs.

The AI problems are no more than 10% of all issues that urgently need addressing, I have no idea why you are talking so much about them. Give me proper balance between the factions and I don't give a damn about the AI because I'll hardly ever play against it.

The current AI is NOT enjoyable in campaign mode, You can put the AI on auto-fight and just focus on macro-management which destroys the fun.
PS : For normal maps tho, I'll try what you mention, but not before 1.2
