Regarding Duke Falcon and Mentat
Dear Community -
Over the last few weeks some members of the Community have shared their concerns with the Mod Squad that Duke Falcon and Mentat are actually the same person. The obvious implication of this fact would be that the months-long cancer story that has been propogated in the Tavern forum by Duke Falcon / Mentat is entirely made up.
The Mod Squad has investigated this possibility and, unfortunately, we have obtained convincing evidence that these concerns were warranted and that the accusation is true. In addition to some peculiarities with the story itself as well as similarities in the posting styles of the two accounts, we now are able to show unequivocally that Duke Falcon continues to post in other internet forums from numerous IP addresses that are identical to the ones used here at HC. By analyzing IP address distributions for various posts from these users, we can also show definitively that Duke Falcon and Mentat posted from identical IP addresses even though they allegedly were posting from different physical locations.
This virtually eliminates any chance of coincidences and has made the Mod Squad's decision on the matter easy and unanimous.
Maintaining two accounts without Mod Squad approval is against the HC Code of Conduct. Given the aggravating factors surrounding the way Duke Falcon / Mentat has used these two accounts, not the least of which is a complete undermining of the Community's trust and good will through maintaining a spurious story about dying from cancer, the Mod Squad has decided to permanently revoke this user's posting privileges at Heroes Community. We have confronted Duke Falcon / Mentat directly with this evidence so that he could have an opportunity to share his side of the events described, but although he maintains his innocence, no satisfactory explanation has been provided.
The Mod Squad hopes the Community is comfortable with the way this situation has been handled and that the penalty in this case fits the crime. We encourage Community members to post any constructive commments or questions they may have regarding this decision in this thread. We do understand that many users here were duped into caring about Duke Falcon's sad (though ultimately fictitious) story and probably feel betrayed, hurt and angry that they were taking advantage of. Nevertheless, we ask that if users wish to discuss what happened here, they do it in a manner that is consistent with the rules set forth in the Code of Conduct.

Duke/Mentat knew my husband died of cancer yet emailed me and sent me HCM's saying how scared he was. I can't believe someone would stoop that low. I have lost 4 family members to cancer including my mum and husband.

As I just said to Elvin. i doubt Duke intended it to get so far, one lie led to another as it's always so. But now he must pay the price od deception, for liars are caught faster then a limping dog (sounds better in hungarian )

That kind of charade Duke performed can be considered very offensive to those truly sick (and families of those). We cannot tolerate such role-play on HC, hence, Duke will be reduced to Disgraceful status and not permitted to post on HC from any of his accounts.

Closing threads and, especially, silencing users isn't a process to be taken lightly even under the best circumstances, and this was hardly the best of circumstances. I hope you can appreciate how it was necessary, especially in this case, to dot all our i's and cross all our t's before proceeding. This included a lengthy investigation as well as making sure all the mods were in total agreement about the course of action, both before and after guilt was determined.

You're not making an @$$ of yourself by giving acceptably decent responses to a sensitive topic. Everyone no matter how big a joker, would have mustered at least a semi-sympathizing response if they thought the topic was serious. It's the "person" (does this even count as a person?) who makes topics like these that is making an @$$ of themselves.
Ultimately, every person who attempts to use "foul ways" (ugh this sounds so moralizing X__X) to gain something is likely to get what they wish for, as well as a lot more than what they bargained for. People like that always trip over their own ploys and spiels. Always. Tangled up in their own web of lies, with no means of escape, the fail. It happened in the past, in many different contexts, and it has happened today.
And finally, to the person who shamelessly tried to usurp my Status as Resident Drama Queen™:
especially when you consider it would still be here (and well liked) if it hadn't written down this entire faux-real, attention-harlot'ing spiel as a fact.
I've seen things happen like this on other message boards, but I didn't think it'd happen here. I may have used multiple accounts in the past (back when it wasn't so looked down upon), but the idea of abusing them to do something like this is startling. At least here. Maybe 4chan is for you, Duke/Mentat.

Yea Selcy & I saw your clue on Tsar.
I had my suspicions when mentat came on.
Well about a few days after she came on.
I mean the way Duke came back would of been a miracle.
The blessings of the biggest come back of history of man kind.
I had my suspicions, but getting far evidence from someone I will not name, unless he wants to bring it up, was more convincing & we was over 100% sure.
Posting in other forums.
Mentat using the sama paraphrases as Duke.
Same words. She was too familiar with HC, when it takes a sec to know everything about the place.
I had to play it cool. If I somehow was wrong, I did not want to look like a ding bat lol.
When I mentioned about just putting him down, I already felt like others was against me.
So I decided to play it cool & kiss butt just in case.
I did not want another incident like before.
It angered me & it made me sad that they would do that to Selcy.
She been through alot & to bring back old memories.
That is sick & it makes me wonder how a human being can do that.
Regards if I am not liked on here.
At least I always tried to be honest with ya.
I know I need to speak up, but i never lied to yall.

lol I've seen worse. I've been people stage SUICIDES, only to have fabulous ressurrections for the great masses of the board
Okay, that may not seem that awful (since you can clearly tell it was a trolling attempt), but it's horrid when the person staging it was using posts YOU made as a reason behind the "suicide" and used it to actively get you banned and feel you doubly miserable in the process..
It nearly happened to me. :eek:
I think the lesson to be learned here is not to take the internet too seriously, I suppose.

Mentat's "duke friend" status was a bit suspicious and the last thing that a real friend would do is that to post about his friend in suffering on an Internet forum,which she never visited before and is about a subject that she doesn't care.
But it's a miserable joke to pretend that you have an incurable disease and post lying informations about how bad you feel.Black humor retard jokes can amuse you sometimes even if it's kidding about a serious problem,but this is not even humor,this is just sick.
