The day the headlines turn up that Hungarian noble family has discovered miraculous cure for cancer I'll feel bad for Duke and what we, and they, did to him.
But until then, I'll sleep happily and without remorse.

The cancer was true. Painfully true until that point where I became better. I did it and I wanted to tell this for all of you. I really wanted.
But my House had other in their mind. They often said me during the cancer that I must became worse in condition. I must reach certain death before I recuperate. They wanted me to suffer because they thought this may got some profit for us.
You can not blame them for this nor can I. This was all purely logical.
I am an artist who could sell only 3-10 pieces of art in a year and this means no profit, no income at all. And as such I was often deemed useless during my life and yes, they were right when they said so.
Thus they want me to be a wonder. And when I healed instead of got worse they was furious. They wanted else. They told me to continue this cancer-thing further. They forced me with the very promise of exile.
I was weak. You may know how weak. I had no chance to do anything on my own and I must be loyal for them. Honour and duty force me to be loyal.
So I did as they told me. That was my first treachery.
The second was Mentat. Albeit you deemed us as the same person she is trully not me and she never ever wanted to participate in such blasphemy. She was right.
But I asked her to help because I knew for sure she can not refuse me. I betrayed her and forced her to be an active part of this treacherious blasphemy.
Why did I done this? I was a coward to lie further into your faces on the forum despite I agreed to play that ridiculous lie. So I am not just a snow but a coward.
I deserved your mistrust and hatred. Even more than these.
It hurt me to play that lie but the fact that Mentat forgiven me hurt me more. I can not look in her eyes ever since.
Nor can I face with you. But you deserved at least to know why I betrayed you and the other members of HC.
Even though you will not believe me does not matter that this is the pure truth. And I undestand that because if I were you I will not believe any of my words anymore.
I am sorry, so sorry. I may had chose not to did that now I know. But I did and that is what matters nothing else. I am guilty, a lier, a snow, someone who deserved your hatred, despise.
Please, tell this for the HC and tell them that I am sorry. Even if this not matter at all.
I lost my honour and lost many of my friends. I deserved this and now I must face the consequences.

All we ever really proved is that Mentat was very likely to be Duke, (and I agree) and from that we drew the conclusion that everything Duke ever said was a lie, a very drastic jump.

Actually, we are able to prove that several things Duke/Mentat wrote were lies, and these lies cast serious doubt on the rest of his story.
However, lying wasn't really why he was punished. The breach of the code of conduct was maliciously using two accounts to sow discord to the community.

Btw, I think when he says 'exiled' he means shunned by the family, not literally exiled from Hungary.
But who knows. The entire thing sounds like an LSD trip.

It is actually possible to have multiple accounts, provided you don't abuse them like Duke Falcon did.
I have three accounts myself (Lexxan, Cyborg_Sid and MrGeeks) , and the ModSquad tolerated it since
1) I asked permission first and then always informed by contact within the ModSquad (Elvin) what I was doing with them.
2) It was part of a joke account I made to mock Mvassilev impersonating TUM at the time, meaning I had a legitimate, yet modest reason. (and one the ModSquad at least semi-supported)
3) I now only use them to bypass the "no more than three posts in a row" rule, which others (like Redsoxfan) have used with no problem.
4) I had already achieved promising status and had merely a minute worth of Floodprotect at the time, meaning I had no real use for a ghostic beyond joking purposes.
5) I didn't use them beyond their original purposes.
Same for Mvass's notorious double account, Deadman, and MightyMage's iMPACT.
The only other ways double accounts get tolerated in practice is when someone chooses to start anew (like Shadowcaster, who is a known double account) or for RPG/ORGs (I remember Mvass had one for roleplaying purposes only)
Either way, they are not tolerated beyond that because it does allow people to bypass other CoC rules like the 20 posts per day limit and Floodprotect.

If I may, then I suggest changing the thread title and/or the initial post of Duke's thread.
I'm considering that new users who're not aware of the dilemma who might happen to read the thread through various different paths and therefore goes through an emotional rollercoaster just to in the end find out (or when they might try to reply) that the thread has been closed and it was all (maybe) fake.
By not revealing the believed circumstances of the thread and its author in the thread title/first post, I imagine it's the equivalent to leave an april fools joke open. At least I would feel my trust in the forum would be partly betrayed under such circumstances.

Hold your horses Tsar... Clay_Man is a very nice guy, I have had the pleasure of talking with him often enough back when Elvin was still holding duel map tournaments (he took first place from right under my nose once xD). I agree that the info should be removed, simply because it would serve no purpose other than tempting people into stooping to Dukes level. He removed it, but next time its perhaps better to just ask him too rather than call someone you know next to nothing about a troll.
