Nothing is worse than Gargoyles and Genies from "Heroes V", to my mind.
Academy units from "Heroes VI", especially Gargoyle, Genie and Psychokinesis Woman, are amazing. They make their faction worth introducing into the game. Nevertheless, Golem is really worse than the one from "Heroes V".

I mean, gargoyles are suppsed to be ugly, but this one's plain ridiculous.
And that smirk on the genie is a noble endeavour, but ultimately void as all female units tend to have the exact same bland expression.
I'm guessing the "Psychokinesis Woman" is a Mage Blade, even though that name doesn't make as much sense to me as Blade Mage would.

No the other mage, with the chimneys on his shoulders is a Blade Mage. The harem-girl with the knives is, as far as we know, just something someone liked to draw. She might be a unit, she might be an individual hero.

The majority of female units from "Heroes VI" make the game more beautiful. Why don't you want to see one more charming lady integrated into the project?..

Because we already have "dozens" of them on each faction

You didn't read my comment properly. I'm cool with female units,
as long as they 1) are dressed appropriately and 2) don't all have a face like this .

I think is stupid that each single faction must have female units. I can understand some factions to have some, but some of them look so forced

No...

What's wrong on this point? Snow Maidens wear kimono, the fact that Spring Spirits and Glories are nude seems quite appropriate. And so on.
Quote: don't all have a face like this
They don't...
Spring Spirit is more similar to this:
Snow Maiden:
Pearl Maiden: or
Centaur:
Celestial, Succubus, Spectre, Namtaru and Harpy: (yes, the majority)
Sister and Genie:
Glory: [no appropriate smile]

Personally I would really like to see Academy in Heroes VI. I really like how it looks on those concepts:
Gargoyle -> demonic in appearance, yet looks like a magic construct, fit for a Mage town. I like it. And yes, nothing will surpass the flying jukebox of Heroes V
Lady knife-wielder -> she looks nice but definitely not an original unit. I mean it's another sexy lady in skimpy outfit. Not that it's a bad thing Still, probably the first "normal" female unit in the history of the "old man with beards and their machines/summoned servants" Mage towns of Heroes franchise...
Stone Golem -> by it looks, I think it wouldn't be a lower tier unit. Definitely too strong-looking. A bit like the Earth Elemental, but I like it nevertheless, and would really like to see it's upgraded "gold/steel" form, because I think this one is it's non-upgraded form...
Mage -> Say what you will, I really like this one. His very ominous looking with that mask on. Like a member of a sect. And knowing Ashans history, this is what Mages probably are (their Beast-man "policy" for instance). Could be a hero model though...
Genie -> Really it's hard to be original here. The only other choice would be to make a male Genie. Every other, non-standard concept would probably generate rage. Like with the "original" and the most ridiculous one at the same time: Heroes V "where-is-my-head" Genie...
Rakshasa Rani -> My personal favorite. And I thought they couldn't make a better job then in Heroes V
Titan -> Good one. Not my ideal vision of a Titan unit, but Titans in Heroes franchise where usually kinda Greek-mythology-style so I'm okay with this concept. All this while stylistically being connected to the rest of the Academy line-up (blueish energy energizing the constructs).
I'm still rooting for an EP with Academy. Additionally, maybe the new devs will have enough time to crack Black Holes code, so we'll see an addition of RMG or different skill trees (remember, never say never ), to appease the fans...
I'm afraid that with Heroes VII we will see a new art style, so we'll loose those nice unit concepts...

Most of them had variety beyond a blank stare (A few actually had pupils as well)
Back on topic (somewhat):
I'm not one to defend the H5 Dungeon lineup.
Most of what I've seen of so far I'd actually consider an improvement.
However, don't tell me that the Chakram Dancer (or whatever) looks any less "stripperific" or "prostitute-esque" than the Blood Sisters of H5
V Oh, she's fiiine all right , I just don't respect her as a warrior

Well, I've got a feeling that SoD sales will be quite good (outside of our pessimistic and "I don't like Ubisoft" forum lot, a lot of people are looking forward to the Dungeon faction). So Ubi will, in fact, re-think the strategy of moving to the next entry in the franchise immediately after SoD. I was skeptic about the second expansion, but the more I think about it...
And this whole "conclusion to Heroes VI" thing could be a marketing move to stimulate the sales. There are a lot of people who wait for GotY or Complete editions. Seeing "Heroes VI Complete Edition" there will make their move, boosting up the sales...

How do you quantify that "lot" ? Just asking, cause, I also know a "lot" of people who won't buy the game at all On Archangel Castle for example, there will only be TWO buyers ... one is a fanboi (not me) and the other is a moderator (me) who has to feed the M&M boards The other french community (Heroes-fr) will have 0 buyer.
Quote: So Ubi will, in fact, re-think the strategy of moving to the next entry in the franchise immediately after SoD. I was skeptic about the second expansion, but the more I think about it...
I have the feeling they're going the right way with SoD, but I also have the feeling it is too late and they lost most of the franchise fanbase ... even those facebook fanbois.
Quote: And this whole "conclusion to Heroes VI" thing could be a marketing move to stimulate the sales. There are a lot of people who wait for GotY or Complete editions. Seeing "Heroes VI Complete Edition" there will make their move, boosting up the sales...
The fan might be stupid, but I'm not sure they'll fall for it again. You know that saying "Cheat me once, shame on you. Cheat me twice, shame on me", it's exactly how most people (except the true fanbois) feel about HoMM and Ubisoft right now.
This is also the main reason why they're making an extension instead of moving on to H7. Had they let H6 as it is and moved onto H7, people would have been very dubious about their ability to make a good game and even more about them finding a suitable developer.
With SoD, they can now prove they've found a good developer and they can prove they've learnt from their mistakes and make H6 as good as possible, so people will trust them enough for H7. My issue there is that the same thing happened with H5, then H6 and right now I'm not really sure I'd trust them for H7.
