Starcraft 2 is alright (but expensive as Sheogh), there's also Planetary Annihilation coming (somewhat) soon.
Maybe it's because RTS is a far less popular genre than it used to (but so are platforming and adventure games, but to different extents).

if Heroes 6 had been a good game or at least a decent heroes this discussion about the RTS would not have taken place.
Heroes 's fan are so disappointed by this game that crazy ideas to improve this game came into their mind lol.

I disagree. This has less to do with Heroes VI and more to do with Heroes III. And how a vocal part of fans feel that this was the pinacle of the franchise and it has been downhill ever since.
Such ideas, as turning it to RTS, have been surfacing with random intervals since Heroes IV started disappointing people.

I don't think this discussion is that crazy, heck, even JVC himself dreamed of making an RTS from the franchise:

If they made homm RTS I'd be beyond livid. It would immediately ruin my favorite Turn Based Strategy franchise, and give me no hope for the future of gaming. I'm honestly not one to over react, but this change alone would be catastrophic IMO.

JVC also works at Electronic Arts, which means he has little credibility for me. He's in charge of Command&Conquer brand, and we all know how great RTS it is.
I also read in an interview that the original Heroes of Might and Magic was at least partially his wife's idea, not his.

I had been holding off on buying Heroes 6 until they fixed the town screens, but it appears that Heroes 6 is a crappy game all around. That's too bad.
Wow strategy games, real time and turn-based, are kinda dead. With the exception of StarCraft and Company of Heroes, there is little to choose from. Too bad. My favorite genre.
I almost bought Heroes VI on STEAM for $12 yesterday. But then I noticed all this DLC and an expansion? Yeah, I'll wait to get the "complete" edition.

there is a complete edition and imo it's absolutely worth it for the enjoyment you get relative to the amountof hours you'll spend on it

Look to smaller names. Paradox interactive has been doing amazing strategy games. I only played Europa Universalis 3 (and mods), but I've seen a few others too and they're gorgeous - gameplay-wise, not really graphics wise.
Also, bad is relative. H6 isn't that bad. But I'm not getting in that argument.

i also consider strategy games my favorite but imho a couple of strat games is enough. It's vary difficult to master a strategy game (to become a Master in SC2 i had to play around 1,5k games). I'd add total war series to the list of AAA titles (Rome II incoming!!! -> need to save money for a new computer lol).
And as simplicity said - i don't think h6 is bad especially right now - they fixed a lot finally.

It seems increasingly likely that Heroes VI with no bugs is an imaginary idea - something like a 5-legged pink elephant that can fly - it is fun and great, but does not and can not exist.

heroes V was such a great game,unfortunately h6 wasnt. i became really quick bored with H6, didnt play the game for ~about a year now. i just came once online to check how my friendlist looks like and it was like expected: "last online:412 days" "last online: 364 days" "last online: 192 days" etc.
xd
i hope ubisoft sells the heroes brand to some publisher who cares more about homm than ubi
