Is Return to Castle Ravenloft different from Castle Ravenloft or some kind of sequel to it?

I just received Arch Ravels yesterday. My wife does a lot of crocheting & knitting, so a game themed around the hobbies seemed like a smart acquisition.
I have been slowly plugging away at my Blood Bowl teams. I have been painting up a Nurgle team since December and I'm getting tired of doing so. I have broken it up by assembling a snotling team and look forward to mangling the gits on the pitch. "
Absolutely love the models (Stolen from Reddit; I'm not even close to that... wait, no. I could make something of similar quality).

Oh come on! You made me wonder! I knew I've seen somewhere a Returt to Castle Ravenloft but can't really remember if its a book or a boardgame.
On another note, I am planning to stream my games just for fun. Can you suggest me things that I need to start with?

Picked up Kingdom rush, rift in time a few days ago. Love the TD game, the board game version looks like it could be fun.

It's in Kickstarter if I remember correctly? Another franchise seems to want to jump on the bg bandwagon... but it's an interesting idea, tower defense as a board game? I can't recall if anyone tried it before...
Btw Galatea - you like card games so I was wondering if you would like this: Here to Slay. It's also pretty cheap. Heard some good things about and was even interested, but unfortunately I wasn't aware of the Kickstarter and lost my chance to get the Dragon hero, and without it I don't find the game even remotely complete And the "second hand" prices for KS edition are too much for a game you can buy in retail for 20 dollars.

@Blob,
I do like card games, yeah... but I do love games with figures too (like our old Castle Ravenloft). The thing is I have a toddler who would literally steal, throw away or destroy those figures if she'd get her hands on them so I opted to settle with card games for now.
Also, games with figure tend to require an amount of time to set up. It would relieve the burden if there's a dedicated place wherein I can just leave it there after setting up or after pausing the game. And yeah, with a toddler roaming around the house, that's a no-no. Note that I don't have a dedicated table for this hobby nor an extra room to keep them off-limits.
Like what I said, LoTR just need a small space and 5-10 mins set up and go! So I kind of want to settle on that game for now. I am planning to complete the whole set (Ohh, I'm dreamin!). The game is great (at least for me) since it focuses on deck building and there's the "MTG paper" feels in it which I really really miss!
And thank you for recommending me Here to Slay!
Apparently, although it is a card game, the cartoonish look turns me off. Sorry, but I am not really fond of those kind of art. That's why I never got my hands into Pokemon or Duel Masters and why I played Hearthstone for just a short time.

The game actually has a PG 13+ rating. The whole "cute things beating the hell out of each other" is an ongoing theme for these creators. They're best known for their "Unstable Unicorns" card game which has become a phenomenon as they even sell merch like undies with it.

I know Unstable Unicorns, I mean I know they exist but I don't know the mechanics. Still, even if the game is so popular and good, I'd probably won't have an interest on it.
Just not my type. Maybe I'm weired.

Absolutely love playing the kingdom rush board game. Highlights for me include shorter games (about an hour), good use of miniatures, no dice, lots of strategy, different ways to play. Good fun with friends or by yourself. They have a solo mode which is actually pretty fun.

Ankh: Gods of Egypt
Was reluctant if buying the "all-in package" wasn't an overkill, as the game was pricy, but it looks sick (and premium), and I really like how they think about the ergonomy in reducing the post game fold up phase with all pieces having their place (and they even added that helpful "what's in the box" reference at the back of the mini-boxes).

Besides, in retail the game is already worth 1/3 more of it's Kickstarter price.

Is there something wrong with me?
I really love LOTR LCG. I think it's a very good card/boardgame. Challenging and complicated. But why???
Why is it not that popular, especially in my area?
People here prefer:
Splendor
Root
Ticket to Ride
Gloomhaven (btw I like this one)
Pandemic
Everdell
Smash Up
...And the list goes on but LOTR LCG is not in there.
Is there something wrong with me? Does my preference suck? Am I stupid?

Yes
Just kidding.
The games you mentioned are all very well known and popular titles, so it's no wonder they're popular. Like, everywhere.
And Lotr LCG is... just another LCG. Guess most players either play Magic the Gathering or digital games. Lotr is niche.

Mainly because Arkham Horror LCG has really replaced the series. I am a big fan of it and have most of the content. I played weekly until the pandemic hit and just haven't gotten around to firing it back up.

TBH, Arkham Horror LCG is not popular here too.
I was a fan back then but then I realized the deck building was not that deep.

LCGs are usually a bigger commitment than other board games because you keep buying expansions. Also, they are 1v1 so they lack versatility in the number of players area.

Talisman does, but it like some other games are popular because they have a history and are easy to find. Not because it's good. It isn't.
Warhammer I'm less familiar with, but I think it has a cult following so that's a special case.

I think the discussion about if Talisman is really a good board game or not is age old. Many people have fond memories of it, because many started their adventure with board games through this one. I wouldn't say it's not good. It's tedious and some of it's mechanics are archaic (to say it lightly), but I have both fond memories of playing it, and also memories of just ending a game due to simply having "enough" (the game lenght is decided by player themselves).
I think anyone should give it a try, but only with base game plus maybe at least a single "corner" expansion.
