I have not tried any of those. One drag about living in a small area without a game shop is that the hobby is not very large around here. I do not know more than a handful of people who game on a regular basis.
I try to game every weekend and usually succeed in doing so, but it gets tricky with everyone having different schedules. Only two of us have a normal 8-4/9-5 schedule.
Has anyone ever tried Ghost Stories? I heard it's similar to Arkham Horror but with monks instead of investigators. It sounds fun but I have heard it's horribly difficult.

Well I have Ghost Stories and the expansion, and I love it The expansion is good when you get used to the game, but at the beginning I wouldn't use it as the game is complex already. It definately is one of those games where the victory seems hopeless most of the time as the monsters come relentlessly and you simply don't have time to kill them all while trying to defend that village. The uniqueness appeals to me, so I would recommend it to you. Warning : girl players tend to seriously hate this game.
Similarity to Arkham Horror is mainly that it is cooperative and you kill monsters and a boss monster and you win. But other than that, Ghost Stories is way shorter in play and in setup, and well, plays completely differently hehe.

Just got my latest game, Fox & Chicken, yesterday and I am really looking forward to playing it. In Fox & Chicken, a story-teller moderates the game and knows the identities of all the foxes and chickens in a farm. The foxes win if they eat all the chickens. The chickens win if they get rid of all the foxes. It is akin to Ultimate Werewolf in the sense that the group is trying to figure out who a killer is. A story-teller is picked in the beginning and has everyone close their eyes after getting a role card. The story-teller then has the foxes open their eyes to figure out who is who, re-close them, and the game begins.
The game has two phases: night and day. During the night, the foxes secretly vote to eat one chicken. During the day, after a chicken has been eaten, the chickens (as well as the hidden foxes) pick a player to kick off the farm. Certain foxes and chickens have special powers, such as:
(Admittedly, the only reason I bought the game is because I found the Chicken in a Fox Suit to be adorable. Yeah, that's right, I said adorable. It will also most likely be my next avatar.)
Some are crazy too. There's a zombie chicken that reanimates and eats the fox who ate him. There's a seer fox who can predict who which side will win and if they are right, only they win the game. There is a cultist chicken who, at any time, can summon a Great Old One to eat everybody. It makes for an interesting game but special cards are limited to 1 or 2 a game, so not everybody has a ridiculous power.
The one snag about buying a game on a whim without reading the rules first is that it is a 7+ player game. Ideally, there should 1 fox for every 4 chickens. It is going to be tricky hunting down 7 players but I think I can pull it off.

I have not tried it.
As to Cthulhu Wars, here's the latest pic of the figures:
The brown characters are from the Opener of the Way expansion, which I picked up. I cannot wait until December to try the game out.
===================================================================
As to my latest gaming, I have recently purchased Love Letter, Life Boat, and the Doctor Who card game. I have not played the Doctor Who game yet (my wife wanted it more than me), so I am not going to give a review.
Love Letter is a quick, light, 2-4 player game where the goal of the players is to get their love letter into the princess's hand at the end of the day. There are only 16 cards and each has a unique ability, such as forcing characters to discard their hand, trading cards, calling out another character, etc. I had heard a lot of good things about the game and for $10.00, did not have much to lose. So far, it has been a big hit with everyone in my group and I cannot recommend it enough.
Lifeboat is a downright vicious game for 4-6 castaways trying to stay alive long enough to be rescued. Each player picks a unique character with a special ability. Additionally, players have a character they secretly love (who gives you point should they survive) and someone they secretly hate (who gives you points should they die). You get various items, such as weapons, water to stave off thirst, and paintings & jewels for points. During your turn, you can row the boat, mug someone, or force them to switch seats with you. Rowing the boat causes navigation cards to be drawn & resolved, which can result in people being thrown overboard, being thirsty, and getting closer to land. Being thrown overboard results in an injury (as well as opportunistic players tossing chum into the water to trigger a shark attack). Thirst results in you taking a wound. Mugging and switching seats can resolve in fights, which is a great way to get wounded. The ultimate goal is to get 4 seagull pieces which means you've found land.
The game is incredibly vicious, so I generally thrive playing it, much to the chagrin of the other players. Negotiation, backstabbing, and threats are to be expected. Naivety will get you killed. For some reason, my love interest thought I would not kill him because I needed the points. Why he thought he could act with impunity I do not know. The look of betrayal was priceless. I recommend the game but only if your fellow gamers have thick skin and enjoy a treacherous game.
====================================================================
I previously mentioned Fox & Chicken and Zombicide and have since had a chance to play both.
Fox & Chicken is a lot of fun. It's light, quick, and good for all ages. The biggest problem is finding a large group to play it. You need at the very least 8 to play it and even then it plays too quickly. Interestingly enough, when I was a fox, the zombie chicken came back for vengeance.
(I couldn't find a smaller page or one that did not include the stretch goal.)
Four of us purchased Zombicide to give to my buddy for his birthday. So far we have played it twice. The first scenario we played ended with only 1 player surviving. The next scenario was a search & destroy mission and we dominated. The miniatures are of good quality and there at least 80 of them. The board looks great when there are dozens of shambling corpses coming after you. I've also heard (but have not investigated) that the developers post new scenarios on the website on a regular basis to add more longevity to the game. The biggest drawback to the game is the $90.00 price tag. If you really love zombies and board games however, I strongly recommend it.

So I have recently entered the wonderful world of board games. This consisted of me playing two very different games: Game of Thrones the board game and Munchkin, which is more of a card game but whatever.
Game of Thrones was a bit hard to get into with all the rules and the special cases, but the second time we played it went much smoother and what's most interesting is that out of 5 players 4 had a decent chance to win at one time or another.
Munchkin is far less complicated and strategic, but it's just pure fun. I mean, how can you not love a game whose motto reads: "Fight monsters, grab treasure, stab your buddies."?
Now that I became interested in board games I want to introduce another group of my friends to this world. Here is where I need your advice. I'm looking for an easy to learn and easy to play game for 3-6 players that can be finished in a couple of hours at the most. My default choice is Munchkin, but since I already played, I wanted to see if you guys can recommend me something else.

The most impressive games I've played within the last years are:
1) Through the Ages; sadly for 2-4 players only. Ranked #2 of all games at BoardGameGeek. BEAUTIFUL game!
2) Agricola; Ranked #3 at the site, for 1-5 players. Action between players is fairly limited, (though).
3) Power Grid; 2-6 players. Fun. (Ranked at #8)
4) 7 Wonders; very elegant design
5) Race for the Galaxy; solid as well

Thanks, but they're not exactly what I'm looking for. I don't want economics or management games. I want a fast-paced, fun, uncomplicated game.

Except Through the ASges the games mentioned ARE fast-paced - that's what makes them do good. If it's your turn, your options are fairly limited, and you don't have much to do; but your actions MATTER.
Also, they are not complicated. Thr rules are long, but the game as such are esay.
Anyway. Risk?
For many people Munchkin iss the top of the pyramid.

Oh, maybe I'll check them out then. It's hard to understand how the game flows just from reading that description page at boardgamegeek.

I can see why. The game is pure fun. Even when you have no chance of winning you can still enjoy the game by screwing everyone else. We only played twice so far. The first one everyone were so nice to each other... until I brought them all down a level just because I could. Then things started to get interesting.
The second time, it was the polar opposite, everyone tried to screw the others over and we barely made progress. Still was fun though.

I play board games about every month with an association, and usually try new games each time. I think it's more convivial than video games as you can play with lots of people.
some fun games I tried recently :
citadels
felt a bit similar to 7 wonders as you win if you build the biggest city. but in this game you get to play as several different characters in the same play.
cash n guns
it's a less serious game. gangsters don't want to share their loot and start threatening each others. escape the bloodbath alive, and with as much cash as possible.

I love Citadels, but to me it feels nothing like 7 Wonderds. It is all about the Character selection (which is awesome), but 7 Wonders is more relaxed. You don't raelly need to think of other playes that much, and to me, that makes a huge difference. I love them both though!

As to Cthulhu Wars, unfortunately it was pushed back until March (hardly a surprise) but I have enough games to keep me occupied for awhile.

@Geny, the game you want is "King of Tokyo". It looks like it's one of Omega's top three games as well.
King of Tokyo lasts about 30 minutes. If you're looking for something longer, I'd make two different recommendations, and the recommendations are based on who you're playing with.
"Ticket to Ride Europe" is a game that nearly universally acknowledged as being easy to learn and also a game that pretty much anybody can have fun playing. If you're sitting down with non-gamers this is the one you want.(the Europe version is more complex than the original game with the American map)
"Small World" I think would fit your criteria perfectly as well. Looks like Omega will back me up on that:
