Having a quest that requires multiples of the same artifact can be completed with just one. This completely breaks one of the important quests in a map I'm working on:

Game freeze during AI turn with huge army stacks

Hi there!

I'm sorry that I'm probably raising an issue that may have been reported multiple times in the past by multiple singleplayer h3 nerds like myself, but I didn't find much specifics on workarounds or potential plans to fix it.

The map I'm going to be talking about: https://www.maps4heroes.com/forum/opinions.php?map_id=2427&game=3

Similar issue was observed on other maps too, but for this one in particular it's quite persistant.

I'll try to make it concise as possible:
1. Game freezes on purple's turn (generally it's either week 3 or month 3 depending on its actions in first couple of weeks).
2. The freeze happens when/if a specific hero (Morgoth) enters a town. By that time the hero has enormous army by common standards (almost 500k liches, 81k or several lvl7 creatures and some other huge stacks). All 7 slots.
3. My observations seem to indicate that AI treats the stack sizes as a 16-bit signed integer in some cases, and possibly this issue is related to it.
4. I tried removing one of hero's stacks before he enters the town, and the game didn't freeze this time.
5. The bug doesn't occur if I control the purple and just enter the town. It's either AI-specific or requires me to do something that AI does in that specific case.

Sorry for the wall of text here I think it's most likely a known issue, just hoping to learn something about it. If it's actually known, it's likely that it's just too difficult to fix, and I understand that. Maybe understanding its nature though would help working around it for map makers. If someone knows any implementation specifics related to creature stack sizes and anything related to a situation described above, I'd very much appreciate some light shed here Also if you are aware of this issue being raised in the past and there was a response by HotA/HD-mod team, I'd love to read it too

I can send you my saves or if you have suggestions I could do some tests myself. I'm really looking to understand the bug nature though, so far without insight into implementation specifics it's mostly just a guess-work, which isn't very ensuring Also ok to use some other means of communication in order to keep this thread cleaner (email, messengers, etc.).

With the new 1.7.0 update, when you send resources to another player it shows the resource send box but reciever doesn't get them.

HOTA 1.7.0 lan not working

After updating to HOTA 1.7.0, the ability to play via LAN stopped working. I cannot find a game that is hosted on another computer on the local network. This error does not occur on the HOTA 1.6.1 version (I can find and connect to the game without any problems)

1.7.0 seems to be crashy with RoE/AB/SoD maps. Did some testing on such maps because them being at the top of the list.
Especially on RoE map "Good to Go" (small map with fully built towns).

Sent some crash reports but when loading a faulty AUTOSAVE (map was "All for One I think) I got the following message:

In the case this isn't known already:
- New map "Provintsiya" is untranslated in the English l10n
- In the first new campaign name of the town "Loboratoriya" is untranslated in the English l10n

I've seen a few instances of untranslated stuff in the campaign, but I can't remember all of them off the top of my head right now. I remember the hero to the right of Burton on the second map had a Russian name.

AI hero instantly dies - building object

Hi guys, I have a situation where an AI hero instantly dies when he comes into contact with an building object on the map. The hero is much too powerful to die from such a quest so I am not sure what's happening there. Did anyone else have such a problem and if so how can it be resolved so it doesn't happen any more on the map? Thanks in advance.

P.S. I've tried adding short video where the hero dies and his stats, but wasn't able to for some reason...

It's the opposite, the hero dies cause it is TOO powerful. I bet it's one of Maygwan's maps, isn't it? I wrote about it to him several times and have the same problem with one hero in my own map.
Like it happens with primary skills and experience, power of hero's army is stored in a variable that if it grows too much turns negative. HotA team already limited the first two but not this one. So, if AI hero whose army's power is negative enters a battle he automatically loses.

Thanks for the response. Yeah armies are insanely powerful like 9999 for every unit and heroes have all 99 stats. So, if I understand correctly there is currently no solution for this? How can I know for sure that the heroes won't die, is there somewhere the definition of what is too much, so that I would decrease their armies to that level?
Got to admit it's my fault. I created a God of War type map vs 7 pantheons of boosted AIs with some sick armies in order to have crazy battles

So after updating, 2 games in a row now, I make significant progress in my game and then the game crashes. When I try to load the autosave, it says the savegame was read with errors and then the game crashes again.


Anyone else having this problem? Any way to fix this? I really hate losing all my progress AGAIN. I can’t even play the game like this, because god knows when it decides to crash again and all my progress gets wiped out.

I tried to load my pre 1.7.0 HotA campaign save file where I had the three previous campaigns finished but the game read them as an SoD campaign file and opened the SoD campaign screen (inside HotA(!)) with the first three campaigns marked as finished. When I load the last save of the first and second HotA-campaign the same thing happens with respectively only the first or the first two SoD-campaigns marked as completed. In the load screen all the campaign savegames have the SoD ‘hooded Sandro’-icon instead of the HotA ‘Horn of the Abyss’-icon.

When customizing the guards in an abandoned mine, the changes are not always saved when you save the map. When you open the map again, the chosen resources are correct, but the guard type is reset to random.

Hello, I've encountered identical issue - my previous HotA campaign save files are now seen as SoD. Is there any way to convert those to HotA format eg. by hex editing save files ?

IIRC, there was a post on the DF2 forum stating that this issue would be corrected in the upcoming 1.7.1 version.

The wiki team has been finding issues, bugs and Maps requiring update and posting them on the wiki for a while now. Here are the issues we've encountered so far: https://heroes.thelazy.net/index.php/List_of_bugs_(HotA)

I hope having multiple issues and their potential fixes accessible at once will prove more useful to the HotA team.

There are still some serious water related bugs in HotA:

1) AI sometimes gets stuck on water, while using Water Walk or Fly.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FATAL TO THAT HERO, AS THAT HERO CAN'T DO ANYTHING AND IS FOREVER STUCK IN THAT STATE
Please do some bugfixing and make sure it is not possible to end turn on water, when using Water Walk or Fly.

2) Today I got a message saying something similar to "Water Walk can not be cast while in a ship", but it was while it was AI's turn, so apparently AI tried to cast Water Walk while in a ship?

I know too.. Another bug showed AI ship stuck on land.. Map name is the Dead Ornament, but AI "learned" from the mistake on The Puzzler (HotA) map, both maps are mine..

If you can't understand "English", thus an *****.. Ok I show you!



AI never learned, when I added on objects, AI wanted go to sea.. But "trap"! A image is the Puzzler (HotA) map, so harder AI is coming, when you fix a bug.. And other message is a normal thing.. The same H4.. Ok
