I feel ya on the art direction. Unfortunately I think that things won't go back to the way they were in Heroes 3. But I see positive signs that with Heroes 7 devs are striving as much as they can to bring that feel back to the franchise. We can only hope

I - What are your thoughts on how the franchise has been managed so far?
II - Can you make a top of the biggest mistakes the devs have ever made (no number limit)?
***Creatures & Graphic***
- In H6 : Too many skill, confuse, no dynamic, lack of balance (as a lot of heroes series)
- Need quality creatures instead of amount... Obviously.
***Gameplay*** / Quoted Hoaheo
- Oversimplified adventure maps. +1
- Reduced lots of adventure objects. +1
- Adventure maps seemed to be large but in fact, they were not deep enough for a strategy game. Just look at H3 maps. +1
- Oversimplified gameplay (in general) +1 [portals... back to caravans is good]

Horrible, revolting, ridiculous and disgusting are the terms that comes to my mind.
Stevie said: II - Can you make a top of the biggest mistakes the devs have ever made (no number limit)?
- Discarding the old universe and implementing Nival's trash lore in it's stead. (worse than anything else in the franchise's history)
- The shift from theme-based to race-based factions.
- Firing Paul Anthony Romero, who is the only person in the world that knows how to make proper Heroes-music
- Uplay, Heroes VI requiring a steady internet connection even for single player games.
- All influences from Warcraft and Warhammer.
- Horrible and ridiculous voice acting.
- The horror that was "Dark Messiah".
- Dynastic weapons.
- Blood and Tears. Though some form of alignment axis could have been interesting, if it could be implemented properly.
- Trying to make Heroes VI's story interesting by ripping of Game of Thrones (well, to be fair - at least it was more interesting than the Heroes V campaigns)
- Destroying the Warlock faction by introducing stereotype-ridden dark elves fighting in sex outfits.
- Mono-coloured factions.
- Isabel.
- Findan's "poetry" in Heroes V (deserves a mention of it's own because it was so horrible)
- The rushing of Heroes VI, that made them scrap the Academy faction
- The elimination of iconic resources like mercury, gems and sulfur. The only truly stereotypical fantasy game resource - Crystal (overused in Final Fantasy and everywhere else) was allowed to remain.
- To much nudity in general, at least during the Nival era.
Stevie said: III - What about top best decisions (again, no number limit)?
- One of the few positive decisions was to involve Julien Pirou in the development of Heroes VI. Sadly, that meant him dropping his work with the fourth Heroes of the Ancients Book, which would probably have resulted in a better product in the end.
- Other than that, the Heroes V skill system is probably the best of the series from my point of view (apart from the magic classes), as it made a distinction between broad useful skills (like offense) and skills like Eagle Eye and Navigation whose usefulness varies depending on the map. But Heroes VI ruined even that.
- And Infernopolis didn't return. Not that NWC had planed that either, of course.
Stevie said: Do you trust that the devs have learned enough from the community feedback to make better decisions in the future?
NO. Not as long as Ubi still is in charge.

Just came from the Shadow Council, as I am a new member of it.
From what I saw in the demo and the many screenshots given out since the revelation of MMH7's ongoing development of this newest title, I just realized that German people think that human castles and extremely successful monarchy resides mainly in the fabulous and mountainous landscape of Austria.
So, I decided to leave a detailed post on the discussion board where the discussions are more likely to be noticed: The Sylvan vs. Dwarves poll Topic Forum thread.
It is to make sure we will have much less mountainous landscapes and, more plains like surface world where both wolves and stags are more likely to prefer living. Farming on the mountain slopes is quite, impossible.
Well, anyway, this is the last day of August 2014 and, tomorrow is the very first day of the month of September. Let's hope for more devs. news to come out until then.
