Politics in the U.S.

I'm going to kick this thread off with this:

House plans to sue president for not passing laws

And, this will be paid for by taxpayers(no surprise, of course it is).

Thoughts? I, for one, never knew the government could sue the president. The question I ask, is, what about Bush? If it IS just one man making things happen, then... What about Bush? The entire Bush administration? Couldn't(and SHOULDN'T) they be sued for what they did while in office?

I wonder, how much the american public will take, of this horse**** going on in their government, that they supposedly elected?  How much can they take? How much are they willing to take? Are they just going to sit on their hands, and say, "we elected them, it's OUR fault"? I just... cannot fathom how things could go anywhere but horribly, horribly SOUTH from now on, and at an exponential rate, as it has been for over a decade.

I'm making this thread just about U.S. politics, but feel free to find correlations with the U.S.'s, and your own governments.

US politics : misdirecting their citizens from the real problems.

Suing Obama = not a big problem at all, just some ironic drama. We all know how them old peeps love that irony. Oh yes. Ever since I've crossed adulthood, I cant have fun too often, otherwise my peers will judge me. All I have as basic fun sources is sex and irony. Sex isn't as fun when you get older. Please give me more irony. I crave it. Is there some real problem going on? Not sure, I'm all busy with ironic tv shows, ironic newspapers and every other ironic event in my life!

Thread owned. kk thx bai. Lock this thread plz!

Obama is probably like "Oh that's rich! Fine, I'll play the game, I'll just give less donations next year! ha ha ha!" ( Obama places both hands on his belly as he laughs )

your very first statement in this thread is the only thing that seemed like a valid reply. the rest was just a rant, and a bad one at that. when a thread NOT in the wastelands starts off, it is better not to **** around, as mods will put it somewhere less serious if it is full of too much asshatery. i'm telling you this for future consideration.

you'd think that people would learn by now. i really do not understand obama's stake in this. is he really thinking that throwing money at a problem will stop a war? especially in the middle east, of all places? that's even assuming that the money goes to who it was intended for. it's just an outright waste of taxpayer money. i say, let them fight it out. they're going to, anyway. it's greed against greed, nobody will ever win.

interesting... or not?

this guy here:
("This decision is a year and a half too late," said Ahmad Ramadan, a senior member of the Western-backed Syrian National Coalition opposition group. "Had it not been for Obama's hesitation all along, this wouldn't be happening in Iraq today nor would there be this proliferation of extremist factions in Syria," he added.)

yeah. sure, guy. question: is there any other "superpower" out there, "helping"? i thought so. shut your yap, and take whatever is given to you for whatever reason. god, what a cluster**** this situation it all has been/is/will always be.

hopeless. ****ing hopeless. i want to sleep for a couple of days, and shut the human world the **** out. i need a rest from this constant barrage of stupidity and wastefulness, that blares out of every mouth, magazine, book, t.v., and computer screen.

As I said, military industrial complex is in play. America appears to be enslaved by the weapon's industry that piss out money in support of interventions like this, then make enormous profit at the cost of the taxpayer. I'd bet that no more that 1% of that 500mill is to pay for the actual fighters. When you have an industry that is so heavily reliant on bloodshed for profit, and a system like America where money goes a long way in politics, then you get a pretty corrupt system that's in favor of military intervention, and the use of violence, both home and abroad.

Republicans would falsely liken Obama with Palpatine but he is without doubt more of an Anakin kind of guy. Americans need to start voting on other parties and get money out of their politics. Hillary will never be Luke and the republicans are all demonspawn clad in priest robes...

sorry tsar, i forgot about this post. i'd say i agree with most of this, except for the part about money going a long way in politics(assuming that it's not all just a facade). just because nothing ever seems to get done, really. at least, not what's important. they focus on stupid things like gay marriage(which should have never been an issue in the first place, it wastes time and resources just trying to go back and forth with it), among many other things. it's sad; once gay marriage is no longer a distraction for the public, they'll find something else to piddle with, while the country continues to worsen. not that they can really stop the continuing degradation, but they could at least TRY to SLOW it, ffs.

@ gunfred: i don't know how to reply to that. on the one side, it's funny that you're comparing world leaders to fictional characters(and it could be fitting, for all i know). but on the other side, the continuing degradation, and the **** sandwich that the american public is being force-fed on a daily basis, makes the comparison particularly un-funny.

When you're going up for election every two years as a governor it is nigh unthinkable that you can manage to fund the primary election and then the actual election without selling your soul to multiple donors. Thus money does go long ways, sure from a hindsight you could say that the governor has no real obligation to vote to please corporate donors, but the support they've enjoyed would turn to outright opposition for the rest of their political career. (most donors tend to support both sides in order to create a win/win situation, thus if you do not support their agenda in your voting records or general work then they'll merely just fund your opponents)

You know, I'm not usually a supporter of using taxpayers money to fund a specific politician's campaign or anything like that, but I really do feel that its a serious democratic deficit that you either need to be rich or sell your soul to a whole lot of special interests groups in order to make a political career in America.

i was unaware something like this existed. regardless, what real way is there to fight a system so full of corruption? this "wolf pac", is like an ant standing up to a dog, by comparison.

@ tsar: you have a point. assuming that it isn't all for show, of course. i don't know which is worse: a corrupt, but legit system that goes nowhere because of the stupidity and selfishness of the human beings involved(not to mention, the flaws in every political system itself); or that the entire political system is just a facade, meant to placate the masses, in much the same way that the "gay marriage" debate is meant as a distraction, while the REAL governing goes on uninhibited.

either way, politics are screwed from the ground up, and the top down.

@ xerox: try the politics for the whole world, chief. the U.S., in no way, stands alone.

Except most American politicians aren't running for president Fred, but of course the staggering amount of lobbyist influence is a problem for the President too. That's pretty much a great deal of what democracy is though. A whole lot of special interest groups screwing people over to benefit themselves.

just democracy? strictly speaking, or are you aware that what you said applies to all of human society? there isn't a form of government that is without the exact same flaws as any other. people screwing others over to benefit themselves, has been the way humanity has worked ever since they came about. any system can be manipulated by people. especially one CREATED by people.

the question is, what kind of political system will MOST subtract human selfishness from the equation? that "computer governing system" that HC talked about for a brief while? we've already been around and around with that, and that argument went nowhere.

there really isn't any form of government, or laws, or rules, or anything, that will be able to stop humans from being humans. the change has to come from within people, not from a system designed to try and fill the flaws/gaps in their personalities.

what it comes down to, is humanity has to evolve. to adapt, or die out. however eventually.

although, the "wolf pac" is a pretty good idea. it won't take off, though, without supporters. i think it would take a drastic, violent change to properly emplace it into politics. and even then, it would be fought tooth and nail. it would be a constant struggle. greed is a very grave issue.
