Gold dragon looks extremely awkward and clumsy, but probably the model is very much work in progress. As I recall Heroes online actually had much better model for Elrath, but maybe with a lot of work it will look nice. Being summonable does give me nasty reminiscence from h6 where phoenix was summoned via some shantiri disc. Speaking of, where is my long time favourite the phoenix???
Earth and fire-elemantal were nice in the demo. Water I will save the judgement till actually see it in game, but it does look nice(much better than h6). Air-elemental seemed crappy unit in beta since it has no "no-retaliation" IMO(the h6 version with chain-lightning required some tactics to actually use as it caused damage to own units too). Also it's shame that there are actually less elementals than in h6(+ I was hoping to see prime elemental)
The demons look much better than in h6 with the darker look.
First shantiri golem is big disappointment being recycled from the same game. Titan on the other hand looks much better than its original version as it doesn't have the bling bling nor decorations.

Exactly. After seeing three dragons, I think I can now confidently say that Limbic just doesn't know how to design dragons.
We first get this awful black dragons with giant butterfly-like wings in H6, then the horrendous emerald dragon in H7, and now we have this really awkward looking gold dragon.
The worst design of dragons over the Heroes series. In fact, the purple dragon from Heroes 1 looks even better than the dragons from Limbic.

Let's see, we have 11 neutrals in H7. I count Griffins as one (base/upgrade). How many did we have in previous games?
Heroes VI:
- Air Elemental
- Earth Elemental
- Darkness Elemental
- Fire Elemental
- Light Elemental
- Water Elemental
- Dire Wolf
- Timber Wolf
- Mermaid
- Phoenix
- Shadow Panther
- Spectral Dragon
Total: 11, if you count Timber/Dire Wolf as one (base/upgrade).
Heroes V:
- Air Elemental
- Earth Elemental
- Fire Elemental
- Water Elemental
- Death Knight
- Manticore
- Mummy
- Phoenix
- Wolf
Total: 9.
Heroes IV:
Well, I don't think there are neutrals in that sense of the word in this game. There are creatures you can't recruit in-town, such as Mummies or Gargoyles, but they still belong to Necropolis. They are assigned, and therefore not really neutral imo.
Heroes III:
Last but certainly not least. The four elementals used to be neutral, until Conflux came along. As of AB, these are the neutrals to be found in-game:
- Azure Dragon
- Boar
- Diamond Golem
- Crystal Dragon
- Enchanter
- Faerie Dragon
- Gold Golem
- Halfling
- Mummy
- Nomad
- Peasant
- Rogue
- Rust Dragon
- Sharpshooter
- Troll
Total: 15.
Heroes II/I:
Never played those , but info is still there:
Heroes II has 9 neutrals too:
- Air E
- Earth E
- Fire E
- Water E
- Genie
- Ghost
- Medusa
- Nomad
- Rogue
Heroes I:
- Genie
- Ghost
- Nomad
- Rogue
Only 4, labled "Miscellaneous" rather than Neutral.
--
Anyway:
15 neutrals in H3. That's a lot, really. There are many possibilities for neutral creatures (as long as Ashan lore allows it. But seriously, they can bend it to fit one thing into another. We've seen the spiderfreak Zoltan already). Copying is a way to implement neutrals, but the possibilities are abundant imo.
Also: The previous games are all complete, their Neutral count won't go up anymore...at least not officially. Heroes VII Vanilla will feature 11 neutrals, so there is room for expansion. Will it beat H3 in quantity and quality? Time will tell.

What got your panties in a bunch. All I said is that they are copies not that they were ripoffs. A ripoff would actually mean there are atleast subtle changes made to make them different. These are almost exact copies.
i dont agree, these crystal like shards remembers me of ice.. they are new... and hands are new aswell... so do the body position too. there are some differences for sure. i'm on same page with kimarious here.
and you cant just copy paste a creature from H4, technically impossible.

Yes, H3 vanilla had 6 neutrals. Only after that the counter was increased to 15. The Elementals were even 'un-Neutralled', so basically you went from 2 to 15. H7 Vanilla starts out with 11 now, so there is more room for expansion.

Having lots of Neutrals is nice but without a place to buy them from, they become rather pointless. H5 had some cool ones but no place to buy them so you could not add them to your army. Only the small chance of seeing them at a recruitment camp which isn't exactly special since you can't get anymore.
Obviously there is no chance whatsoever of them each having a specific dwelling. I still expect to see one for the elementals, one for the demons, one for the Santiri stuff, one for the sea elf, and one for the dragon.

The number of neutrals is very nice. As Green Drag points out, it's vital they have dwellings from where to recruit them, otherwise they become a bit pointless.

I like the Shantiri Titan a lot. Besides that, I hope that each group of Neutrals will be recruitable, as mentioned earlier.

What happened to heroes 3 ? So much potential in hot seat ! All this new heroes series are adding stuff while model is always done.
I really hope the heroes 3 model could revive from Heroes 7, I hope russians or some other motivate people could use the unreal engine to make it real.
2 years passed since the Heroes 7 creation and nothing is done for balance, competitive play. What are we talking about ? Strategy game ? Turn by turn ? It s only recycle from old series where they add animation, skin, and many many perks, abilities. Nothing is done for balance, and i m afraid of nothing will be done.
Is any article on the official site talking about balance ? No...
I m feeling like depressive when i see all this heroes 3 potential under-used. Heroes 7 ? Heroes 8 ? Heroes 9 ? There s no strategy game - only a sad solo campaign game..

Well, it feels they are trying to balance the game out (hence why you got 3-tier instead of 7-tier system, as well as 3 max. number of creature abilites etc.). However, this feels much simpler. In my opinion, to balance out, the factions need to stay focused, a part of the gameplay features that makes them unique and you can build your hero to that. Of course, you can have bits and pieces to adapt, so you can develop more strategies to win (not just one), but in general it should have a sole focus.
Example: Haven would be a faction that has a lot of troops. To adapt, the hero can have leadership as a skill and cast blessings. The hero could also cast damage spells and use war machinery skill, but that might not be a better strategy for a hero of Haven.
In other words, it shouldn't feel too restrictive to make up good tactics.
As for campaigns, well, you can see how much they show Ivan off. Thought it was clear enough at the number of scenarios at H6 vanilla, and that does not count maps taken from campaign itself.

I actually don't think all creatures should even have place to recruit them from. It makes them that much more rare and rewarding when you get them via "diplomacy" or quest. It also forces player to evaluate if it's worth replacing a stack with potentially never increasing stack. That's my take on it anyway

On the other hand, I do have my concerns regarding neutral abilities. What they have showed in the five revealed factions isn't promising, and we know for certain that no elemental will be spellcaster, which honestly sucks

Well you can take comfort in that the water elemental will probably have an activatable ability.
Also the Shantiri units look like something I would see in a mod not the main game.

It's not the same though. H4 WE had Ice Bolt, Slow, Weakness and Quicksand as spells, they made for such a varied gameplay. I miss them

They can still be rare with their own dwelling if its in a hard to reach location and the unit is expensive. The stronger neutrals just add nice flavor in the larger maps
I wouldn't mind if gold dragons had no dwelling, but were placed around the map in small stacks like the genies were in 1 & 2. Dragon Nests or something that only have a few to recruit.
