Zeki said: Btw what is the difference between mesmerize and petrify? I mean gameplay-wise
I don't know how it will be handled in H7, but, logically speaking, mesmerizing = just shutting a creature for X turns (if mesmerizing is lifted by an attack, then the mesmerized creature will not be able to retaliate), while petrification shuts a creature for X turns (depending on the iteration, it may also have added effect: raises the creature's defence).
I believe there was an instance of mesmerizing in H5 (Vampire Princes) and, of course, petrification in H3 (basilisks) and H6 (a spell).
That is, if we speak about abilities that negate creature's turn. As Energy noted, mesmerizing might just reduce initiative (like H6 naga priestesses) or make a creature unable to attack (H6 Mermaids), though I hope it's not Medusa's case.

What did you think about the dungeon hero model? Colour scheme? Mount? "Art-direction"? (Etc).

Oh, i only looked at it once. Only thing i can say is that the hero rode some kind of reptile which body was bulky and which shape reminded me a little bit of a mole.

Would i be too optimistic if i hope that in the first expansion or during DLC or even updates, units might get new abilities that will differentiate them from other units more? For example, so far we know of no unit that has its own spellbook, but Medusa, Abbot, Lich and Druid could just as easily get a spellbook with 2-3 spells in. Also, medusa could have mesmerize in basic and petrification in upgrade model, Arch-Lich could have the raise dead spell and so on.
Heroes VI had many abilities and each unit honestly felt unique on its own, so i am a bit bummed that they used Heroes VI for so many things but not try to expand and better the existing abilities.

Armies of The Abyss: part 1 !!!!
I really like the unupgraded Troglodyte, upgrade is fine though. But ufortunately the elves are FAR too overdone for my taste.

I like them. I find Shades/Assassins to be a tad less blink than the Heroes VI ones and more scaled down which is nice. The Stalker upgrade has too much unnecessary spikes again but in general, it looks nice even if it looks like DIII Demon hunter.
The troglodyte is good. The alien feel to it is fitting for something living underground and the upgrade becoming more rock like and having more crystals and rocks on it is also fitting.
All in all, i like!

Yeah, and there is no explosion of purple, but these are supposed to be core creatures, like what the backbone of their whole army consists of these and I just can't imagine all of them having such fancy and over the top equipment. Like if you look at the Tracker's armor there is a high level of detail that is only for decoration, that's something that only those who had a lot of money would be able to afford. Also, boob plates. I just think that cores can have armor that is a little less fabulous xD that's what elites and champions can have. Of course this is only my opinion

Don't worry the elves are fine in-game. The basic troglodyte's color is good, but i guess they'll still look really bulky in-game just as the upgrade. And it seems that the upgrades looking like the Ground is actually intended and in the lore. What a disapointment :/

Don't forget that although basic units, Dark elves are few and prefer to attack from the sidelines instead of up front, so it doesn't seem off if they have good armor and detailed. It just adds to their vanity and their scarce numbers. After all, these are considered the elite warriors of their race, so they wouldn;t go to battle with as less protection as they can...
