Maybe you can also add mobile units feature from H4?
That would require extensive coding, so no, that is beyond the scope of this project.

We have text boxes in H7 too, you know

Ugh.. Sweety no one put a gun on anyone's head to base the those designs on lore. Someone decided to do that. Someone decided to make gameplay a result of the lore. Whatever the lore! Lore is not the problem here. Why are you people so hellbent to demonize ashan? Damn H6...

here's the question of the year: rather than customizing Heroes 7 to do what it wasn't built to do, why not create these, long unfinished and forgotten about Heroes 4 scripts, as Heroes 4 campaigns? lol
also how do us lowly peasants get in touch with Terry Ray? is it possible to ask him some questions about his story and say thank you? lol

What the hell are you all talking about?
Lore dictating 7 magic schools, is one thing.
Not being able to make that part work, is another one completely.
HoMM 4 and Heroes on BF proved, you can make the impossible work.

It cannot work for what it's presented to be. Sure, you can twist 7 elements into 4 magic schools or whatever, but that's just not how it is, is it?
At any rate, lore doesn't help at all, it's just a hurdle for gameplay.

I wouldn't really call lore much of a hindrance.
Plenty of lore has been retconned already.

Okay, lol.
"In the world of Ashan, there are 4 magic schools: Light, Dark, Destructive and Summoning" -> changes to 7 magic schools
Nice retcon brah.

@JollyJoker
oh, I agree with you there. 3, 4, 5, 7 or 9 schools, the main difference is prob the effort you'll have to put there.
My only point on this subject is that I think they chose 7, because they thought/decided it was cooler for the game.

What if...there were 7 magic schools the whole time
The people living during H5 just got their facts wrong, that's right, H6 and 7 takes place before H5 after all

lore isn't a hindrance, lore on its own is just lore, it's just there, take it or leave it lol
the problem is Erwin's introduced decision to turn lore into "Universe Commandments" and enforced "guidelines", either by command or by selective suggestion, which is the most moronic approach when you design a turn-based strategy game with a legacy lol

Brilliant and critically acclaimed retcon followed, lol.

In-engine cutscenes, duh
Yeah, but I think there are some limitations to it. Imagine Milton being beaten up by Worton or the brawl of Waerjak and Wulgar in a tavern.
I just feel portraying it in cutscenes would just lose a bit of its charm, rather than written up.
Totally agree The written story in the campaign's of Heroes 4 is what made me love it. Cutscenes can not recreate that kind of charm.

One of my favourite retcons:
Quote: Vengeful spirits from a forgotten age, the Rakshasas have lingered on the fringes of Ashan for millennia. Thirsty for revenge, these creatures have been rediscovered by Wizard travellers who - after many unsuccessful attempts - managed to summon and control them efficiently. The Rakshasa Rani are an imposing force on the battlefield, intimidating the enemy with their multi-armed, lion-headed bodies and wickedly sharpened blades. So fearful are their attacks that the enemy is unable to retaliate against them.
And now, they are beastman

Honestly, reading this makes me feel like H5's Ashan was better (at the exception of the campaigns.) it feels more like a completely fantastical universe, while the new ones are too embedded into this dragon messy affair.
Oh well, Griffin Eternal I guess?

I agree with this, and I consider H5 Ashan to be awful already, so that tells a lot about this setting. IMO we had three games set there, and seeing how Ashan is generally received by most, a new setting wouldn't hurt, on the contrary.

Oh, let's not even mention the half demon / beastment retcons with the Orcs and Academy creatures. Or the three moons in Ashan causing Week ofs. But those were not as badly influential on gameplay as magic and resources.
