So wait, does this mean Ubi has less influence on making new games? Or what does this actually mean? I am not a marketing expert... or an economic one.
But, more importantly, does this affect the MM team?

I know that the most likelyreason why Vivendi bought Ubi's and Gameloft's shares is because of their desire to once again be presentin the gaming market. Through my post I tried to explain why did they pick Ubi and not other company, like Rockstar.

I think Ubi have full influence on their games - but they have a budget to stick to, which is why they're not making a Fallout 4 any time soon.
What would be interesting is, if Ubi get taken over by a larger company, shouldn't that mean games like Might & Magic get a better budget?
If MMH7 fails after it's fully patched and makes a loss, chances are Limbic will be out and either Heroes is finished or MMH8 will be under some new developer with a new vision and new ideas.

Why on earth would they invest money in Ubi?

What exactly are you expecting out of this? Because the last recent thing of this kind i recall was when Blizzard and Activision got merged (by Vivendi) and it didmt really change snow.

all non-cash cow IPs, such as Might and Magic, will be thrown into the nearest shredder by Vivendi and never be heard from again lol

Or invested in properly from Vivendi's allocated budget for at least a cycle to see what results it brings. If their coming on Ubisoft's board warrants a continuation of the M&M franchise, then I do hope Vivendi reads this and deletes the current M&M Team's staff altogether, starting with Erwan le Breton first and foremost.

Crossed my mind to be honest. From a neutral point of view, heroes is a risky investment and Ubi hasn't exactly done a good job keeping it afloat. Then again, who knows?

No, they came to make money. More money than they already spent on purchasing the share.

Maybe they could relocate resources from other M&M spinoffs to the one spinoff that actually matter

That'd be the sensible thing to do. Focusing on the two main titles, the TBS flagship (should stop being the flagship tho, it doesn't work) and some RPG between Dark Messiah and M&M, would be way easier and efficient than having to also manage all the extra dying spin-offs like DoC and HO.

Eh doc went really good but they let it die. I had been there from the very beginning and there was so much they could have done. The devs were around and checking the forums regularly so they knew what to do.
I do not think it was a bad investment, anything but. Just mismanaged.
