Quick question, on which might depend my purchase of the game - is the camera fixed, like H6, or can it be moved and rotated, like in H5?
Although it's not something of utmost importance to me when it comes to adventure map, I would feel comfortable having some control over the camera during battles, just as it happened in Heroes V.

Cool, thanks. Yeah, I'm playing max size all-land (Don't care about continents and island maps, it's not a civ game after all Don't rember if I messed around with fertile plains settings, I'll check it on saturday. Maybe for extra large it is by default on max. Seems I was really unlucky choosing these settings for my very first game
Actually, SHOULD that be the problem, you can play continents and reduce the amount of water to 0 (left side). There will still be water, but chances are you'll have just one big continent, surrounded by a tad of water, with a couple of small lakes and rapids.
Imo, Continents are somewhat more interesting than all-land, because higher mobility of fliers and floaters has more of an effect which makes things a bit more interesting with a view on the overall weaker stats of fliers/floaters.
But if you like the game you'll doubtlessly find your own preferences, eventually.

OK, thanks. Btw, is it worth playing on extra large? I found that after an hour of gameplay and cleareing out about max 5% of the map (I checked underground option also, lol) resulted in 3 minutes of AI turns. Will it get much worse? I could live with max 20 minutes of waiting at the end game. Comp spec is i7 with four cores and 8 threads, SSD, 8GB ram.

Bitula said: I mean his sort of performance issue. Or did you also have that 5fps problem? I'm not excusing them, I'm just talking about the posibility of H7 reaching equivalent level of polish in a year or so. I mean what you are talking about is a justified moral issue (the big bad UBI etc. - I agree here), but I am looking at it from a practical point of view.
Don't exactly have 5 fps but not over 30 either, and my machine has fairly decent specs. Problem is this issue is global. TB in his H7 review mentioned that he had "a monster PC" but the game still ran like snow. Majority of voices on Steam complain about facing similar scenarios. I experience the same. Conclusion? Poor optimization and performance ratio. Sure, it can get better given time and all that, but aren't people asking for such understanding from users a bit presumptuous? People judge what they pay for and that's all they're supposed to do. No one owes any understanding to the devs, especially after paying a full price. And let's be fair, for all we know the positive scenarios that one might come up with might not be more than wishful thinking. So why bother? There's nothing we can do and there's nothing we should do. Limbic's getting paid, not us. All we should do is enjoy the show.
Yeah, I know, but it's rather a question of mentality. Do you, as a customer care about, what is the initial quality of the game? Or you just wait until (and if) the game will be worth playing at some time. I, for one, won't buy a game with just 6 factions. And yeah, you are probably right that the game won't live enough to produce 9 factions. But it makes sense to be optimistic. If they'd anounce tomorrow, that there will be only one more faction, then I likely wouldn't follow HC discussions any more, because I am not interested in theoretical speculations and dreams about an upcomming H8, untill and unless an official anouncment supports this.

Bitula said: However others say that they do not have this performance issue, so it is all subjective.
That's a strange conclusion to say the least. Game requirements for a decent play in H7 are huge, surely way over whatever the recommended specs say, and certainly way above the graphical quality provided. You have a good machine so it runs ok for you, and yet even users with good machines have had problems, not to speak about memory leaks. The game is just objectively very poorly optimized.
And I don't know what will happen after a year, I just know what happens now, and it is now that matters because you've paid the game now, not after a year. Hopefully it will get much better but I'm not optimistic. These kinds of things don't just get fixed from one day to another from the same people who created the game. There is something inherently wrong in how the game is technically built or scaled, and it is the second time we get crappy performance from Limbic. M&MX, even if I really liked, was also the same case only that now if the engine is blamed no one will believe.

I think (!) you can speed up AI turns by either left- or right-klicking while it's AI's turn (for each one). I never have this kind of logish turns I have to say.
That said, 8 player XL with UG is very big. This is empire building stuff, and IMO that size makes sense only with either only few sites or with bigger research costs, since the buildup is VERY long (some say Epic).
I've been playing 8-player stuff on M maps with UG, but I'd simply advise you to go L with UG, pick farest distance, and pick Continents with only a bit of water. That's still pretty big, with a lot of space.
Oh, and you CAN team-up players in the setup (you could, for example, play against 7 AI opponents that you team up 2, 3, 2 or something like that.
There is probably nothing you canNOT address in the RMG setup...

Indisputable that the quality of a game is all that matters for everyone, irrespective of it being the release version or one billion patches later. You seem to live under the assumption that releases aren't supposed to provide quality, which is one of the biggest fallacies in the gaming industry of today. If you as a producer have a game that is broken (crashes) and buggy (bazillions), unfinished in content (reused assets, lack of custom maps, no tutorials), unpolished in aspect (no animations, no unified color scheme) and a technical mess (low performance, bad optimization, port forward yourself for multiplayer that doesn't even work), why do you put it on a shelf and expect it to sell? What are its selling points? I just crossed them out. So the answer is that as far as they call it a "release" and ask a full price for it, they have to deliver quality.

1.4 in a month? Not saying it is not needed, but why did people have to wait a month to have so many bugs fixed, instead of releasing a glitched game?
Just saying there wouldn't have been negative comments if it was postponed for a month, at least.

Yes, because it is something in the near future of an existing game, whereas H8 is something in the far future of a non-existing game.

How I see things, probability of getting H7 expansion (from this point of view) is equal to the probability of getting H8.

The camera can be rotated using keyboard only in both (combat and adventure map).
The experience is bad, nothing similar to H5.

Oh no, I already admitted that this behavior is unethical, but since it happened, you can't do anything about it, except hope that it gets fixed, unless it is completly and irreversibly broken, which I don't think is the case. And the patching process so far goes well.

OK. But so what? There is nothing to discuss about H8 today, since it doesnt even exist. And it is quite possible that when it comes (in 2020) it will be worse than H7... I see no point in speculating about nothing.

A 1 month delay would have gotten you the same game it was on release, actually.

I agree with your every sentence. That post of yours could have been written by me. So im pretty sure you just stole my opinions...
The disappointment didnt come as a surprise for sure. It slowly made its presence apparent through the articles and reveals during the development. Steadily decreasing my interest. I havent bought the game either. Im just not interested in it. At least in its current form...
The disappointment just doesnt fade away that easily it seems (as did the interest). Every time i hear H7 i just start to imagine what it could have been and i just get really sad Well it cant be helped :/
