One of the best 7, for sure.
But seriously - no. I really don't have the patience to list all things here, but H7 is an ill-conceived patchwork affair that screams "improvised" out of each feature. I will gladly admit, that this isn't as striking in the campaigns, for a couple of reasons, but when you just play any MP map it becomes more obvious. I mean, they added the changed random skilling feature that you know - now just think about how much sense the following makes: For the Magic Guilds you have to pick a favored school (that is different from the preferred school or how this is named). Now, say I play Stronghold, so the preferred is Air Magic. Now, say, I want to equip my hero with the spells they can learn (Level 1) - I now have the problem that I have to name a favored magic school, although I can't say, because my hero didn't get one offered (or one apart of Air Magic).
Does that make sense?
No, not in the least.
Patchwork, ill-fitting.

And how is the H7 system different to the one in H5? I mean, there are differences, but exactly the problem you describe is there as well. Only the amount of magic schools is lower so you wil probably always choose destructive for dungeon or light for haven, as the other ones would not be much logical.
I know it's waisting of time, on both sides as our preferences and opinions won't change, but still it's good to discuss absolutely different views from time to time

Is that really so bad? Even if you pick e.g. Earth Magic, you still get spells from the other schools thrown in. Moreover, you can wait before deciding on the favored magic school, you do not have to do it immediately (comes with a downside of course).
I think the real issue here is how they implemented the random skills. I would have preferred if every hero had access to only a specific set of skills (like H5), not all of them (or at least that we know what the respective probabilities are in advance!). But, like I said, this issue has not prevented me from enjoying the game, it is rather minor.
EDIT: What a wicked coincidence!!

Hey all. I obviously wont be active around here anymore. I'll still be in contact with Ubi-Moshi, should something urgeant come up, but it will be few and far between as i'm swamped with many work related projects.
I managed to get hold of the designers excel sheet that contains the % chance of what Ability you could get to populate a position/skill in your skill tree. When playing with Random skilling.
I mentioned I would try get it before and received a couple of emails regarding this, so here is the info in the form of some Imgur links for people to use.
Should be pretty self explanitory. Tabs at the bottom show what faction it's for. Numbers on the right give you an idea of how many total points a faction would 'weight' something over another. An example is Stronghold have a much higher offense score (42) compared to Haven (34) as they're more offense flavoured.

Thankyou all for the support you've shown both Limbic and myself personally. I did my best for everyone in the community, in the area's I thought a change could/should be made. Game is far from perfect. Sad to not see it get that extra 4 months finish (don't think it would have taken much longer than that personally to have everything solid including MP) but that's life.
Feel free to hit me up on Steam if you want to get a lesson in some CSGO or Dota. I hope people can find some enjoyment in Heroes 7/Addon.

Dan

I actually read Dan as kind of apologetic. Though I wonder how long they've known about this date. I don't remember when it was, but not long ago they were clear about supporting the game for a long time.

I used to like Dan, but not anymore and it's because of stuff like this. They had 1 year of post-release support planned and paid in advance to fix most of the important issues, which they didn't as he admits that the game's still far from perfect, but then laments over 4 more months they didn't receive that would've somehow made everything solid?
Please.

Well, not even tote saw 3.2. But at least 3.1 was in a rather good shape and the game had caught on with the community. It could sustain itself with some custom maps.

I don't doubt that 4 months would have been enough to "fix" the game, most of the technical issues are resolved now anyway. Would another 4 months have been enough to iron out the last few bugs and optimize the game a bit further? Maybe, who knows. Is that really important however? Should we be even discussing about bugs 14 months after release?
This is what Heart answered to this:
Limbic-Heart on Steam said:
SoilBurn said: Hi Dan,
Related to your comment about the game needing another "4 months to finish": When a game needs 18 months after release to finish, then something is obviously wrong - either with the developer, the publisher or both. This is not an early access game we are talking about. The bugs should have been fixed mostly before release, not afterwards.
No argument from me in that regard. Let me get a couple ranks higher up with in this industry and it wont be a thing.
Does that imply that Ubisoft was responsible for the early release? Noone can confirm that for sure.
