Just looking at the potential creatures is interesting enough. Time for some over analysis!
So they all have Minotaur and Minotaur Guards, which is something that has never changed. Darkblade was the default might hero in shades of darkness and now its a unit. I guess that rules it out as returning as a hero class.
Shadow Unicorn and Nightmare is very interesting given the Nightmare was Inferno associated. I had a theory that perhaps the nightmares where not spawn of the six Demon Overlords but rather had non demonic origins like the Succubi and Heretics, etc.
Chthonian sounds very Lovecraftian.
Strider/Soulless to me seem like a kind of Dark Golem. The image I have of these is like the Star Craft 2 Protoss Stalker.
Some of the usual unit names or upgrades are changed. Cave Hydra and Dark Hydra rather than Hydra and Deep Hydra, etc.
My pick? I am torn between The Blade from the Shadows and
Malassa's Thousand Faces. Blade feels more like a dungeon strategy, at least the Ashan version, and the hit and run seems a good contrast to other factions. However creature wise it looks way to similar to Shades of Darkness, though I do want to see this Shadow Unicorn. The Thousand faces creature wise seems a lot more interesting. We have the return of the Troglodyte and Medusa as well as this Strider/Soulless which sounds really cool. And balance is not a bad thing. Shield almost seems anti-dungeon. It is the only one that gets Manticores but I can live without them.
And scores at the moment are

Faces: 42
Shield: 26

I think that Ubi won't show us lineups of Stronghold and Necropolis until we pick the "type" of Dungeon's army. I have a theory that they will adjust types of Necro and Strong to be a counterparts of fan choices.
For example:
Offensive Sylvan - Let's make Defensive Stronghold.
Defensive Dungeon - Let's make Offensive Dungeon.

I guess we'll get 3 parts of "Henchmen of the Wizards", then an Academy animation update, and first Stronghold/Necro spoilers by christmas/new year.

come on man! all line ups are good this time!
whoever wins with cheating or not, line-up will be allright)
what this voting does is generate interest from fans
so hopefully many people will buy the game and we ll get expansion

oh yeah. I'm loving this right now.
During Sylvan vote, Sylvan's Fury was my pick. But it was way behind everyone else. Then, Sylvan's Fury defied all odds and won with an underdog "come from behind" story. Oh yeah.
Now, Shield of Darkness, my pick, is starting out in a very bad position. Will Shield come out victorious like Sylvan's Fury did?
Oh man, if that happens, JEmo getting his way all the time <3!

If H7 troops have durability like H6, no range penalty.
If H7 troops drop like flies, have range penalties.

Marksmen should have range penalty because crossbow has a limited range, but when at closer range, they should deal double or triple of normal damage.
Actually, the effective range of a crossbow is fairly compatible with the effective range of a longbow. Only where a longbow is easy to learn and takes a lifetime to master, the crossbow is easily mastered - hence it's also called the poor-man's-bow.
Both had an effective range that went up to 300-400 yards, with a drop-off in kill chance beyond 200 yards or so.

I admit that I used to think a crossbow was mainly for short range and longbow for longer range, but it turns out to be quite similar in effect.

If any unit has "no range penalty"-ability then it better have it's stats tweaked. It should have either the survivability of Furies or it's damage should be halved. I couldn't hire Arcane Archers in H5 without feeling like I cheated.

I really have to post it here.
The latest video from CGP Grey, called "Quick and Easy Voting for Normal People"

In under 2 minutes it gives a sollution to our voting problems.
Also - check out his other voting videos. One of them, called "The Problems with First Past the Post Voting Explained" covers the problem we had with Sylvan line-up, that being the "minority rule", where we had an option win, despite the fact that the majority (55% of players) didn't want it.
