At least the music delivers...
I still wonder if some kind of Arabic theme wouldn't fit here better though. "The Wizards Waltz" fits H3 Tower style "Academy" more, I can even imagine some kind of nostalgia coming from Romero

No I'm pretty positive for MMH7 to be good despite all the absurdities it will (in my sense) contain.

Oh, this is beautiful. Really a perfect Academy theme in my ears. Reminds me so much of Heroes 3 (not any theme, but the overall feeling).

Great theme!
But I think Rob and Paul made a mistake.
This is a great theme for Tower but not Academy. Not the desert variety atleast. Point is I want Tower back on snow.

The track itself is very good indeed. As always. But it fails to give me some "Arabic" or at least "Eastern" feel. Maybe Waltz is something international in Ashan or I don't understand anything about Arabic music
I may sound crazy, but there was definitely something from H6's soundtrack. That violin sounded very, very, very familiar during moments with piano. Ending is familiar too.

I really like the theme. Another great one in my accounting.
When I first heard the "prototype" version, I got a slight "Harry Potter" vibe from it. Less so from the full version we have here, but it still carries an effective magical flavour that works well.

Nostalgia is to small of a word here. That violin motive reminds me of Necropolis theme from H3. Academy was always linked with Necros so that's smart, coming from the composers. It even has H6 Necro theme references. So, while being a new theme on its own, it reminds me of older games...

One thing I've learnt from working with Rob & Paul on H6 is that they're not big fans of "illustrative" music. So even if you ask them to do music from an "Arabian Nights" faction they will never take the "obvious" path and will come up with something unexpected -- in this case, a waltz. Sometimes it's frustrating, sometimes it's awesome, but at least it's always surprising
By the way, if I remember correctly Rob himself is doing the vocals on this track

Damn I wish.
However I admit I really like the Desert theme for Academy. That is what I call a good change, I mean, Wizard/Tower had this mighty cold feel –which could go to Fortress and Nordic Mythology now- while Academy has this a thousand and one nights feel, and I love both. Cabeiri are a much more interesting unit than gremlins, and I fell in love with Disciples, that magic carpet is one of Limbic smartest move, imo.

Touché, there is the exact same theme, only harmonized differently, which changes completely its feel. Yes, that is a good example of doing new with old, although I’m almost certain Paul did not do it on purpose.

Nice info, thx for sharing!
Although I must admit I'm a fan of illustrative music in Heroes case.
Then he did good vocals indeed

Nice that the theme pays homage to the necropolis theme from H3, since they now are a fraction from the wizards. Good job.

Stevie said: I have no problem with females in support roles at all. It's the warriors types that are hit or miss for me. For example, a female rogue would be more intuitive because they don't rely heavily on physical strength to apply damage and they like backstabbing rather than a two handed warrior female with a claymore. For this reason I think that the female Justicar is a bit iffy.
no.
stop.
just stop.
weapons were not so heavy only the beefiest of men could wield them. that is false and misleading and straight up ignorant. the very notion that a woman wouldn't be able to wield a 3.6 kg two-handed sword is just absurd. that's the limit of how heavy they got, BTW, the pinnacle more or less. No weapon (besides maybe maces and even they were way lighter than you probably think) ever demanded brute strength. in fact, since velocity contributes more to weapon damage than mass a heavy weapon would just be hindrance so even suggesting that gender matters at all when it comes to wielding certain weapons is simply, well, ignorant. so stop, ok?
i really like the academy music. Dat h3 nostalgia is too stronk
