I know about that but my opinion remains the same - previous world had too much of emotional baggage carried by fans that it was risky to continue the project while keeping the lore from previous games.

Galaad said: Then this is too open for interpretation. To my understanding it implies the franchise started with Heroes VI, therefore suggesting the old universe never existed.
I understand your frustration, but Might & Magic and Heroes are not limited to Heroes III either.
We're talking about a franchise that's existed for almost 30 years. Even the old universe had many different looks for the same units. My favourite Might & Magic world was XEEN, which is very different from Enroth. And even within Enroth the Vampires of H3 looked nothing like the Vampires of H2. The Orcs in H2 were orange pigs and in H3 they were brown/green humanoids, etc.
And current games are not set on Varn, Cron, Terra, Xeen, Enroth, Ardon or Axeoth, but on yet another world, Ashan, with its own creatures, some familiar, some not so much. But you can't blame Ubisoft for trying to have at least some consistency between the games set on that particular world.
Regarding the Stronghold info, I guess it will be "not so soon".
I think you are pointing out the problem everyone has with the current necro lineup. Its not that the creature type is inherently bad its more the copy and paste from one to the next. You can have continuity without having the exact same creature designs.
I mean the orc from h2 was orange with a crossbow vs the green with throwing axes. They both served the same purpose but the models were completely different. You guys can't really think changing nothing on the creature designs would be really acceptable to the heroes long standing fan base.
My point... keep the same lineup if its a matter of resources. Just have the creature designs changed a bit. Look at the overwhelming amount of hope and positivity you guys instilled in your fan base after the haven and academy reveal? The lineup and some unit designs are close to h6 but not copied pasted.
I think I can speak for most when I say we all appreciate more toned down, less flashy, less spikey art design. And if you name a skeleton, skeleton hopilite at least make it resemble something hopilite-esque . If you guys work to please your fan base you will find a dragon's utopia amount of gold being thrown at you.

I think sth will change, there is enough negative feedback to stir things up ;P
I'm still not sure about the line-ups. Haven is okay, Academy has some nice units, but Dungeon seems meh, Sylvan is mostly a disappointment (will see how it turns out design-wise) and Necropolis is practically a clone (truth be told Ashan Necro was never my "favorite", gothic-necro from H3 rulez ).
I guess as long as the mechanics are okay, the game promises to be quite solid. I really hope they'll "fix" those line-ups with some good neutral units (Marzhin what about those Gold Dragons?).

While this is obvious, meanwhile I think the culprit is "Might & Magic" as a franchise: Duel of Champions is still very much active, Heroes Online is about to start, M&M X has been launched a year ago, after the development of H7 started ... it might have been strange, if H7, due to be released this year, would have more or less destroyed the whole setting.
It may be boring for us, but this kind of continuity makes it easier for newcomers to find themselves at home when switching to a different game of the franchise. That might be the theory behind it.

I still feel the setting can be saved if only Ubi stopped being so stubborn and address the glaring faliures in the current universe. No need for an end of the world every second game.
One of the problems with ashan is that everyone is so GODDAMN nice. The warhammer universe makes this kind of setting to work by ensureing that even the good factions are at best biggoted a-holes.
The fact that they are limiting themselves to Urgas being the only Actually bad guy seriously pisses me off though. Not to mention that Kha-Beleth was a tear hero, further adding to the notion that he is probably not that bad of a guy and rather the same as Raelag.

I think it would be nice to introduce new "continent" on same world as Ashan, that houses Lizardmen, which would invade Ashan. Maybe even with help of demons.

Marzhin said: "One game to the next" = H6 to H7. Because both games are set in the same universe, that is Ashan. It's never been question of pre-Ashan Might & Magic games anywhere. But all current games are taking place in the same continuity, and in that continuity, Necropolis is indeed the faction that is supposed to remain pretty much the same.
This does beg the question, though: how much of Heroes V is still considered "canon"? Is the whole storyline around Isabel and the eclipse and such considered "canon"? What is no longer considered part of the Ashan lore?
Because you mentioned that the visuals at least aren't part of it anymore, even though many here on the forums claim that they consider this a better version of the Lich than what we've seen in Heroes6 (and now also Heroes7):

Rather easy: story is mostly "canon", the lore has been somewhat tweaked back in H6 era, and some Visuals are "not canon" anymore.

I never said it should be done with Heroes 7, not anymore. Heroes 8 on the other hand...
