Stevie said: And this time around we don't have enough info or the right context to predict anything. One thing I dare speculate is that, with the RPG series at a halt and Heroes 7 still being in production, it might be that the contractor isn't even Ubisoft (not for M&M at least).
Of course, and now it's looks something like this:
50% - Ubi contractor / 50% - not Ubi contractor
if Ubi true then go to
50% - DM2 / 50% - other
if false then end sub

New Clash of Heroes game would work so perfectly on UbiArt engine. I want Ubisoft to use it more. Games released on that engine were great, so if CoH II would be released, then UbiArt is the best choice. Oh, I wish so badly that this game would be released soon...

And? So what if he hasn't played ALL of them? You want to go over to a Mortal Kombat board and lambaste members of Netherrealm Studios who haven't played entries like MK4 or Special Forces? What about people working on Fallout but haven't played Brotherhood of Steel?
If having to work on a game means you need to have played the entire library, most series would never get as far as they have.

your random programmer or designer doesn't have to know the series,
but this guy is just a total casual lol, not always the best credential when you creative direct a classic brand
from what he says, sounds like he never even bothered going near the first decade's worth of games, that's a shame as they were arguably the most original

Honestly, I'd favour this whole "spider cult" thing instead of going back to THIS Necropolis. >_>

Why do people hate my beloved H2 necropolis? ME be so sad.
Sure it look like a random "street of horror" but it had charm, and atmosphere, like all things in H2

In my opinion this city looks cute. I know there is an unhealthy mixture of too many architecture styles but this town has its charm. It looks like base of stereotypical evil guy and Heroes I and II had fairy tale like looks, therefore (at least in my opinion) their graphics have aged better than ones from Heroes III. They do not try to pursue realism but stay a little bit cartoony. This is also why I think Heroes V in terms of graphics aged much better than Heroes VI - pursue for realism can be very misleading (especially in terms of hair; in Heroes VI they looked awfully ).

Well, it isn't really fair to compare it to other, "newer" Necropolis townscreens.
The whole H2 atmosphere was amazing and had more charm than every other Heroes game in my opinion.

while i disagree with your statement (h3 was very fairytale-y and has aged WAY better than h2 in terms of aesthetics) i agree with the sentiment: a more interesting and unique artstyle goes a long way in making a game memorable and loved. It's why Wind Waker is still remembered as very good-looking (and still is) while Twilight Princess is looking pretty sub-par. This very much applies to heroes as you said: h5 is remembered more fondly for it's looks than h6. Even if not everyone liked it we still remember it pretty fondly. Granted i don't think it had great art style but it will certainly look better than h6 in ten years.
basically my point is the same: vivid, colorful or outright cartoony aesthetics will age much better than realism as graphical power won't necessarily impact it very much. Standards for realistic-looking games simply go forward to fast to let any one game shine in the category. Twilight Princess looked like snow when Skyward Sword came out. Hell, Twilight Princess looked like snow when Wind Waker came out

fair enough, but I always loved the Heroes 2 towns, I think they're full of comic book charisma and appealingly vibrant, even if slightly chaotic

As stated in the Necropolis topic...
Kimarous said: But back onto the Necropolis screens, I'd personally rank them:
H3 > H7 > H6 > H5 > H4 > H2
Also, it's less that I think ill of H2's towns in general. On the contrary, I like most of them - Warlock and Barbarian especially. H2 Necro just happens to be my least favourite of the Necro towns because of how eclectic it is.

@Kimarous
I missed that in necro thread.
Anyway, I would love to see them shift from spider cult to something like this from H3.

Thing is, I am not opposed to that notion. Maybe set it after Dark Messiah and say the spider cult has fallen.
My opposition has less been about "Void Necropolis is a bad idea in general" and more "trying to demand such changes for H7 at this point is a bad idea."
