I dunno about Kanya, but as far as I am concerned, a lineup with little to no significant original units. Just rehashes of the same old units with a new lick of paint.
I ain't saying it's a bad thing, and Academy is just as, if not more, conservative than Necro at the moment.

Change of Subject.
I was thinking. The traditional sense of a shaman is that he or she can communicate with spirits, summon them and use them, either to bring harm or to heal.
In that sense shouldn't shamans in Heroes be able to summon units under the category Spirits? Or at least have the Heal or rejuvenation spell?

It's the one, that you see. Amongst undead, consrvatives have won. In Sylvan's case it was the democrats, that's why they have deer instead of unicorn. Dungeon has been take over by liberals tho, so a lot of lineup has changed ... But it looks like consrvatives have Academy also ... not much change there. Haven? Democrats.
Now Stronghold is a true question. I would go for Socialist Worker's Party there. We need revolution comerades

Did the old Nec have spiders and horse-vampires?
And was the Glamassu really that popular?

Conservative Necro with undead spiders, riding Vampires and Lamasus. Sure. Mhat would be a progressive Necro then?

In Heroes VI shamans were able to bring harm onto the enemies by some mass debuff spell. They were also able to buff their allies, however, they weren't able to heal. I don't think shamans will have some kind of healing skill because there was an oversaturation of them in Heroes VI and another unit with such ability would cause a rampage, probably smaller one than (You know what) but still.

An actual blood drinking vampire-horse kind of sounds badass.
Definately more terrifying then the lamasu. The lamasu looks like horribly designed statue with a face that shows no emotion. They could have atleast spiced up the model by adding some flys buzzing around it to imply that it is carrying some kind of plague.

I would say, from all this necro discussion, lineup itself isn't problematic for most of people. It's the looks and the lore of those creatures.
Same with spider theme. I don't think it's that bad, it's just that spider symbolism is overused, and then we have spider in adition to that as a unit. Personaly I don't hate the spider per se. I do not like it very much, but it's ok.
From my viewpoint, I don't read the lore, so if it's stupid, it can't bother me too much. And I can see past the looks. I mean yes, the art style is distinct, but imo atleast artists did a good job for most part to draw these things. Now that Vampire and Lich change, hopefully there will be less feel of reusing old models. To me however this isn't priority... but ok it's nice of them to change, even if we'll probably either get a delay (in best case scenario) or will be cut short on other content like neutrals (in worst case scenario).

There's no cuttings anywhere. The remodels are extras.
To me the spider is a meh creature. There were other better ones to include. It's a waste of a core spot. The Lamasu too. They could've had Death Knights instead, and a unmounted Reaper as Champion like the H5 Wraiths.

And you know this...how? Sure they won't say: "hey guys, we removed this idea from game..." But they do work with finite resources.

Are you sure about that? I know of flesh eating ones but not actual vampire horses.
Somehow I doubdt that GW is stupid enough to come up with creatures as ridickulus as vampire horses. That remains a Ubi speciality.
Truth be told, coming up with undead creatures is probably too easy. Take something living, kill it and raise it as undead.
Unfortunately only so many things work in medieval fantasy. Wolves, dogs, horses, rats, birds, spiders, lizards, snakes if we consider normal animals and manticore, dragon, hydra and others if we consided mythical creatures. And that is how we end up with spiders and lamassu. BTW undead hydra also sounds kind of nice...
Other than that and we are left with the skeleton, ghost, zombie, ghoul, lich, vampire, werewolf, mummy, sphinx and Frankenstein like fleshgolems and their combinations if we do not want them poaching creatures from other factions like the undead gargoyle in H4 or maybe undead djinns or phonixes. Ice deamons and venom spawns are apparently too creative for Ervan.

Undead phoenix is a pure nonsense. Why? Phoenixes are in Greek mythology symbols of life and their ability to ressurect themselves is the clue of that creature (not the element of fire, as some suggest). If you would like to create an udead phoenix you would basically have an undead pile of ash - this is the only time when phoenix can in fact become undead.Zombi_Wizzard said: To me however this isn't priority... but ok it's nice of them to change, even if we'll probably either get a delay (in best case scenario) or will be cut short on other content like neutrals (in worst case scenario).
Marzhin or Ubi-nox has written somewhere on the forum that the new models of Lich and Vampire won't have an impact on the other aspects of game. It is true that their funds are finite, however, when you begin any kind of project, you plan the budget as the game would cost you much more than it was planned in the first place, therefore they have some provision for "non-planned changes",like random skills or new models for Vampire and Lich.

Not more nonsensical than anything else in Ashan. Vampire-Djinns and Elemental Dragon-Phonixes in H8 are as reasonable as Undead Spider and Vampire Wraiths are in H7.

well, maybe not vampiric, but there are horses that drink blood with the chaos mongol-expys. they're mostly in the fluff though.

Ok. I must've missed that. That's fine then, I don't mind them changing stuff, but I realy don't want the end product would suffer because of it. That's cool then. Now I can't wait to see how H7 Lich and Vampire will look (because so far I only saw H6 Lich and Vampire).
