Silva means "forest" in latin. But is not declined correctly if I remember my lessons well.

There's even a quite known footballer called Thiago Silva.
Regarding "gender-bender" units - it hasn't bothered me particularly but I just find it silly that after an upgrade female unit turns into a male one. This is not an upgrade. This is dismissing a whole crew of female units and replacing them with the exact same quantity of male units for an icreased price. simple as that.

So males get payed more????? That's sexist!!!
Hahah just kidding,I m not going there:/
Oh come on upgrading is not like pokemon evolution!
It doesn't have to be the exact same unit. When you upgrade you still can hire un-upgraded units. Two different populations. But we love complaining so I'll follow with the lack of abilities of the pixie. No passives. I know they are saving it for the upgrade, but nothing??? Same as poor gnoll!
Btw someone answer me this. Some creatutes deal magic damage. Is that affected by hero's attack or spirit?(magic?)

maybe it is not wise to assume every unit of a given type belongs to the same sex, just because the avatar does? some imagination could come in handy here? lol
If you want imagination... the units used a magical dildo to change their gender.
Besides, being an upgrade means that the units have improved their training and have better equipment, not their gender changed. Besides, by that logic, djinn units in H5 are male because there are no feminine features, yet one should be aware Nur is a female djinn... unless we start claiming "oh, they look (fe)male but are actually unisex because they have chosen to look like that".

you know, monstruos and treelike and not "magical lady in dress" which is what the pixie is as well.
Mind, i still like both of them (especially pixie. SO VIBRANT!) but they both sort of fill the "floating lady in dress" archetype.
"drys" in greek means oak. and dryad comes from that word. and i think druid comes from that word too in greek.
so indeed dryads should have been wooden and coming out of the ground like the mizu kami(i wouldn't mind a wooden mizu kami with her hair upwards like branches and that's what i was picturing for the dryad when i was voting.) i don't know how they came up with the transparent thingy :/
she looks like a hippy too
EDIT:
yeah ok there is the treant situation:/ well in that case she could have worn a wooden armor-like thing. or wooden accessories?
Na-ah. Druid probably is celtic and comes from the words Dru and Wid (Strong Seer)

Eeeh... I dunno about anyone else, but I view "Pixies" and "Sprites" to be similar, but not synonymous with "Fairies." Then again, my definition of "Fairy" specifically has long since grown to include the general Fair Folk, like the Seelie and Unseelie Courts.
Just saying, I'm more likely to think of "butterfly-winged tiny beings dancing on flowers" when I hear the terms "Pixie" and "Sprite", whereas the term Fairy evokes the image of a less comprehensible being that steal your children to become season-based warriors.

I love the Dryads and have no problem with them being slightly similar to the Pixies. But if you wanted to differ them more, you could make Dryads like this, should differ them enough from each other. And I know that Dryads are female in mythology. But then this is Heroes, not mythology, you could find another name for them .

And have another wave of people complaining about gayness and other people complaining about that and so on. When already most people think the faction is too girly and that the blade dancer wears smth weird. I think the 70s hippy dryad is cool for now. And she could be sprouting from the ground and not floating if seen ingame.

I guess it depends on how you grew up learning of the term. I find that Faery or Fae Realm is a general realm of Elves and Faeries, faeries being the pixies and the like small creatures, while the elves and their likes are the Fair people.
In Greece the Faeries which are closer to the idea of Nymphs will steal your speech, your logic etc, but they still are of the Fair folk.
I don't think that we have the Pixie and Sprite idea in our folklore, but the term "Νεράιδα" which is the translation of fairy has become synonymous with the idea of a small beautiful woman with wings.

I guess, and I luuuuv the Dryad atm, just said it as an alternative . Though I don't understand why they would complain about ''Gayness''. 1. Because you're not the most masculine man on Ashan does not mean your gay (Or Earth for that matter) 2. There is nothing wrong with being gay.

I know that and you know that. Some russians don't(mostly kidding here). Lots of people have complained on the shadow council.for me the alternative would be a trio of genderless pixies. Smth like the ghost in heroes 5 but smaller amd surrounded by a whirl of magic dust or smth.
@minastir
The tatoos are there to make the guys more badass i guess since people complained about h5 elves being too feminine? Just a theory.

I do believe that it is to show the ritualistic and primal side of the elves. They are not high elves but wood elves and are heavily influenced by the Indians. As such, the tattoos are signs of ritual, passage, accomplishment and empowerment and not decorative.

Celtic tattoos were a likely sight among Celtic warriors.
Much like the Picts (Latin root word: Picti meaning "painted ones"), who tattooed their warriors as a form of intimidation against their enemies, Celts likely adopted the same war tactic of the time.
m0zch0ps artist who creates H7 units art said that sylvan gona have a bit of celtic look to them.
So here you have why tattoos.
Edit: They look badass for me
