I think the problem is that the pixie has a completely different direction then was advertized. It's not bad (I really like it) but "floating, magic woman in dress" is not what we were led to expect. We were to expect a leafy, alien fairy of some sort yet we got something completely different. The dryad (and the dancer) is at least the same concept as was advertised.
Still, it's like choosing between 2 fantastic designs. Don't care, like it either way

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that the cis are at it again.

So what you are saying is that, by some logic, we'd have things like a male druid, a blade dancer wearing armor, emerald knights riding pegasi and phoenix being painted green, all because it is "unofficial artwork" and does not rely heavily on details?
I do not approve of this. Yes, it gave us a general idea, but how will I know what I will truly be given? It was a gamble at best.

@Energy
It was always a gamble, but with the unofficial pictures, it was a biased and self-misleading gamble. As simple as that. If something is not official, it means that it is susceptible to changes. That is why I do think that it would have been better if they haven't shown the pictures. But the fans demanded them and they got them.

Well acttually yes I do.
The druid could have been considered male even until now, if Marzhin wouldn't directly say "They are Female".
A blade dancer is a light armored fighter with two swords. But since Justicar is a "light armored" unit in this wolrd. They could be dressed in something like a Leather or scale armor (And skirts)
And a green pheonix is actually something I exactly expected (Green and later golden as an upgrade)
They gave us some stock images from their library since they "Did not have anything ready" for the votes. I think they underestimated that. Dungeon was a bit better. They had art for the common units for all the options (Mino, Hydra) and some raw scetches of some other units. Still that MaM VII Traglo posing as the mushroom man they are supposed to be now was funny.

But that would be going against the almighty lore.
Honestly I do not understand how this is riling people up does no one know what the unofficial artwork tags mean?

When there are pictures, people do not read the text.

First of all I started this conversation and I am far from riled, I was just curious what others thought about the changes.
Yes they say unofficial on them that is not the point, my question is not why they changed but why did they ever show them in the first place.
You act like everyone who votes actually knew this but there were SO DAMN MANY comments talking about how badash the Bladedancer was. I honestly think that the only reason Fury won was because of that single picture.
Again I personally don't have a problem with the unit designs (other than the Bladedancer which is just boring). I am not raving nor snowing. I am merely wondering why they showed those in the first place if they had nothing to do with the finished product. It was pointless and misleading to anyone who didn't take the time to read up.

Edit: Devs did not bother including artworks at first expecting people know how units look like. But than vocal majority happend not knowing jack **** about how unit looks like ended with us having this conversation.

I understood that they were not official art pieces but one would think that when a picture, such as the one of the Bladedancer that got such an immense ammount of positive comments they would not change it all to much.
Edit: Ugh, soz for weird spelling, I'm really tired at the moment.

They should have it is not hard to read. Let me be clear I was never accusing you I am accusing all the fools on the SC who voted without reading and are now complaining. Yes, the pictures were pointless and miss leading but they were there, and it was the voters duty to be informed. Forgive me for sounding pretentious, but they have no right to be unhappy they brought it upon themselves.

@Raenus
The fans wanted pictures to see some new units that appeared (snake, emerald knight, etc.) so that they know for what they vote. However, there were no official artworks at the time, so they just showed some old stuff to satisfy the fans. But they only managed to create delusion among the voting population. Many were drooling at the picture of Blade Dancer thinking that that is what they'll get, while they disregarded others thinking that they are trash.
Quote: It was pointless and misleading to anyone who didn't take the time to read up.
No time was needed if one looked at the picture, because they also contained the text "not official artwork". So once again, it is not really Ubi's fault.

Fury winning shows that the franchise has more young and new fans than old ones. And although it may was hype,don't forget that this hype backfired in the ugliest way possible and 1000 faces won for dungeon.if it wasn't for the medusa-hype,ashan dungeon would have been saved in my eyes.
Back on topic,lets wait for the official blade dancer art. But to be honest i wanted my blade dancer giving me some kitana realness.

They promised that if Phoenix had been elected, his upgrade would be golden. Since there are no Phoenixes, then there's no possibility for a golden one.

I do not think that we know if there are more new fans or old fans. Nowadays, many old fans have given up on Ubi's Heroes despite briefly following the news. We do not even know how many old fans didn't even vote at all, and how many voted for fury for some other reason (mind you there were calculations at that time, such as, do not let fury/strength/balance win for X reason vote for its opposite). Plus, what's wrong with 1000 faces dungeon? If it is ok if people are hyped for 1 unit, why is it bad if another unit also receives the hype? It's really weird logic.
