Stooooooooop! My eyez hurtz......

Honestly, idea to replace town screens with windows was one of the worst in gaming industry EVER!
It was good thing that UBI understood that.

*facepalm*

I'm confused. I thought this was Heroes 7 discussion topic? How the hell Heroes 6  early townscreen relevant at all? Ah, I see. No use including actual Heroes 7 townscreens as they are vastly superior to most of H3 garbage, right?

It's a shame that ubi refuses to fully support heroes franchise anymore!!
I can't imagine that someone wAs told " hey make the townscreens with X budget and fast, thank you" and then that person reading our comments :/

Where X is an extremely low amount of money.
We could make an ubisoft skillwheel by the way

During h6 development, UBI didn't even want townscreens, Black Hole made them at their own expenses

BH actualy made only those poor looking Town windows. The Townscreens that were added with the patches were done by Limbic, as part of their work on fixing what was left after BH infamouse end.

I don't doubt that's true, but why do H7 townscreens look way less good than H6 ones? H7 ones(for now at least) look way tok cartoonish and bleh:/

I don't agree that new sylvan TS is alike with sanctuary, but I do understand how some might see them similar(especially at first glance).
1) They both use similar color scheme(which was also in general the sanctuary color scheme).
2) They use same "shapes" in the buildings. The buildings themselves however are different(and sanctuary has more multi-layers while sylvan has more simple designs)
3) Both have water and hill(s)is part of the theme.

On first glance it did give me flashback to sanctuary, but it's nowhere near the same when you really look at it IMO. The new TS one of the better TSs so far, though it utterly once again lacks logic. Another note I made was that if I don't have text on the building, I wouldn't recognize almost any of them as to what they are.
I actually liked h6 sanctuary TS much better than this. In general h6 looked graphically too "magical" having so deep colors, but the TS had that toned down which is partly why I liked it AND it looked natural still on comparison to rest of the game. Here once again the graphics of TS don't really fit rest of the game IMO.

PS why do dragons have wings on their building, but the actual dragons have none...? Their description back in the votes said they just get too heavy to fly, but I didn't see any wings on the models... These look much better than the actual kirin models in game...

That's because of the claim they "don't deem townscreens as important".

And, of course, you got tons of complaints of such bad townscreens. Like Ubi knows better than any other fan.

How can anyone say that this garbage:

is better then this:

HVI screens have much bigger problems with perspective, angles, shadows... Buildings look out of place and.. well.. just pathetic.

IMO they both have their fair shares of problems.

Look at Haven TS from Heroes II and III, and try to do a little effort and imagine how these would look using 2015's technology and graphical possibilities, and maybe you'll get why some of us aren't satisfied.

These may look outdated now, but at the times they were released, it was about some of the most beautiful screens you could get. In the times we live in, we cannot say the same in regard of HVI and VII TS.

And just for posterity:

Indeed. Outdated. Very outdated. And in times we live in neither of those two screens impress by the slightest. Even if they get remade. I thought I was over the top about my accusations about nostalgia, and even doubted myself for liking some new stuff, bit thankfully you are proving that it's all about nostalgia. Like really.

As for the H6 and H7 townscreens although the former lack of perspective they give us a more clear image, and the latter although more complete, things get lost in the shuffle.

I tend to overlook the technical aspects as the important thing for me is the mood and use of colours. I do not mind cartoonish style but H7 could have used some more inspiration I'm mostly satisfied so far, I just wish they had done the champion dwellings more special and paid better attention to the placement.

But the technical aspect is at very the service of art. It is what allows you to create to most beautiful things, thus can only benefit mood and use of colors.

H3 also had fantastic picture composition. H7 has all buildings just splattered over a big heap in the middle of the frame. THey're just sort of there without much thought put into presentation of the individual buildings. Sylvan is a big, cyan pile with some stuff here and there. as a whole it's all right, but compare that with h3 rampart where every building fits in but doesn't blend into the picture. The h7 dragon dwelling is a small platform shrouded in shadow  and hidden away in the corner. h3 dragon dwelling is a giant cliff-face seen looming over the town protectively. which one do you think has a bigger impact?
