That looks like some sort of Academy outpost . Very nice image!
Yeah, I think H5 was spot-on with its townscreens. It is somewhat of a pity that the 2D-method was returned. You have the technology, why not keep using it? Must be part of their wish to return to "The Roots".

Outpost? That is far to big and expensive to be a simple outpost.

@Dies_Irae
I do like 2D. When I was playing 3 back then, I was always wondering how wonderful having 3D towns would be. Then, in H5, I really thought: why? If making 3D towns, I would like that as long as it was a static 3D. Having all that dancing here and there was very pointless and consumed too much resources from my PC back then for no reason at all. 3D, as I see it, came as a vile thing in this franchise, mostly because it was not being used in a clever way, or actually justified its use. I saw no purpose at all. And now seeing this high system requirement for H7, I do ask myself if it's really worth the technology.
I support the idea of having 2 or 3 different TSs per faction too, showing different angles, only fairly animated, but not all the luxury, pointless luxury, of all that H5 navigation. That way, you didn't have to purposefully have all buildings visible in the same screen, as to avoid the usual cramming of buildings and odd positioning as we have seen lately. Or so I think.

"Wasted space" is where UI goes.
What about the sides? and is it necessary to have a map in a town screen? preferred h3 solution which was having the UI and TS together in one picture.

It's almost like they're afraid of cutting out buildings, that in my opinion is pretty fashionable actually, it gives the impression that the city continues out of the townscreen...
Looking at this, for example, the tavern is cut out, and the lower road is also cut out, giving the impression that on the left the city continues expanding and the lower part continues on to the other parts, presumably the outskirts where the peasants live; this is just an interpretation, but that's the feeling the HVII one is missing, the possibility of interpreting the townscreen, just like a work of art...

Minastir, I've got to tell you. You never fail to amaze me. Every work you make regarding the Townscreens makes them look so much better. You won't be angry if I show it on the Shadow Council, as I believe this may solve many of the issues of fhe townscreens?

yeah, you can, no problem
the same thing is with Academy TS, it's to far away, it shows you that the UI doesn't stand in the way of better TS

No, really, THAT is how a proper town screen of 21st century should look like. How is it possible, that a team of game developers is not able to do that, what a single fan achieves with a simple gif?!

Minastir, your gif looks amazing. brilliant idea, and very simplistic at the same time.
everyone probably going to agree on this, its better like 10 times more then what we currently have with "official haven ts".
high respect from me, you should be given a red star.

The minimap is a waste of space everywhere except from when you are on the adventure map, yet Ubilimic has decided to have the minimap always on. The Townscreens, the Skillwheel, hero recruitment screen everything is smaller because of the freaking minimap. Why?

I think that devs have no idea how to occupy that space in the corner, so they decided to place the minimap everywhere where it is possible.

They should consider adding slide-in-out menus if a player chose it, if they wanted to have a clear view of anything and only see menus, of any kind, if they chose too.

Minastir said: still there is wasted space on the sides, there's everything in the center and empty sides...
The wasted space on the sides *might* be to accomodate for people with screens with different aspect ratios. If your screen is closer to 4:3 rather than 16:9, it might be the game cuts the space on the sides to make it fit.
But generally I agree, the sole fact that they are so obsessed with the wall in front of everything makes things look too far away in the first place, and cutting things in the sides does indeed give the impression of a continued town rather than just a small collection of isolated buildings.
