Great reference! New Nightmares should be similar to them - they fit perfectly to "darkness and dreams" theme of Malassa .

I commented it earlier. But im saying it again. I don't think the strider/soulless is going to be a golem or animated suit of armor. The name strider makes me think of something more "alien" or "eldritch" looking especially since it's a product of shadowsteel and dark magic.
The creature is a primary case of we need to see a bit more lore and a picture.
About the case of the great strider is taking the slot of a mythological creature... well... i think those ppl can shut up. There is nothing wrong with some original or not so mythological creatures. Especially since a good number of creatures from myth or folklore is already changed ten times when compared to their "original appearance."
Also there are a good number of "construct creatures" outside the golem story too. So no... construct doesn't equate golem-like or academy-only.

Strider makes me think of 'drider', because drow.

As they should.
Put some effort into it, I counted 3 units with shadow in their name just in The Blade.
And Soulless, Faceless... Why not call the Trogs Eyeless while we're at it?
And what's even the point in providing upgrade names if they're likely to change?

(keep in mind, what I say below only applies if Shield gets eliminated)
Despite my misgivings about their sole archer, the legitimacy of the Shadow Unicorn, and the viability of multiple teleporters and strike-and-returns, I'm starting to warm up to the Blade side. Why, you ask? In my mind, a big part of Dungeon's appeal is the presence of its various creatures - to have Lurkers, the alien-looking Faceless, and Shadow Unicorns in addition to the default minotaurs and Champions... that fits my aesthetic needs a lot more than the consistently humanoid Faces lineup. That, and I've never been much of a fan for Troglodytes.
What do you do when your mind yearns for one option and your heart yearns for another?
EDIT: I have since reviewed the rosters of H3, H5, and H6 and concluded that H3 and H5 weren't nearly as creature-filed as I though they were, and that H6 just felt creature-filled due to being regurgitated by Cthulhu. Consequently, I have gotten over this silly notion.

Well, driders are spider creatures, so we can expect spider constructs be more of a Necro thing especially if remembering their catapult from H6.
And yeah, i to hope that the soulless is a placeholder name.
About faceless. Think there is actually no problem with that name, since well, they don't have one (the masks and a encounter in MMX where there is a faceless without a mask... any any face) On some creatures, such names are ok.
Anyway they have had that name since H5 and is in all lore, so its something very inlikely to be retconned

I think that's a very good example. Something along those lines with a more pronounced horn.

No problem, just wholly uninspired.
Descriptors are okay, but why would one only name one's ancient race based on their lack of facial features?

It's also okay to name a whole other ancient race for their lack of height.

Isn't it completely normal that races/kinds/species are named after their appearance, visible features or things they do?
For example (Thanks Wiki!):
"The word is derived through Latin from the Ancient Greek: ῥῑνόκερως, which is composed of ῥῑνο- (rhino-, "nose") and κέρας (keras, "horn")."
EDIT:
I bet Ancient Greek alphabet uses different signs . Blame it for forum coding.

You mean it's okay to name a condition after a mythological creature.

I believe it was referring to the term "halfings" with regards to nope-totally-not-hobbits.

No I was referring to Dwarves. But your Halfling point is very well made.

...And Asha saw her creation and saw that it was good, and said:
"Henceforth you shall be known as the dudes without faces and only that. That's what sets you apart."
And Malessa did ponder this and said: "LOL this is like sooo random even for me."
The Faceless, having no faces, thought less of the situation.
---
Why not just call Angels 'wingfolk' then?
Yes, I will apply different standards to legendary creatures seeped in tradition and 'Original Creature do Not Steal'.
