Indeed the HV townscreen was (and is, duh) popular. Can't blame them

I voted Sanctuary, because a Tree is awesome palace in the middle of a forest for the elves, but it looks odd in the adventure map, lets say in snow or in lava. I absolutely loved H5 townscreens but they do seem out of place on the map...

I am sure that through some Sylanna's magic they can keep the tree in non-hybernation state even in the most unfriendly for any form of life terrain. Besides, this is a fantasy game - they will always be some logical fallacies present.

Voted for sanctum, because the tree island was already there in H5, it would be good if they give us something new and different.

Opted for Tree Island. Besides the H5 nostalgia, it would feel so much more distinct from the rest of the towns.

I'm pretty darn sure that "gigantic tree in the middle of a lake" stands out from everything else. >_>
Sure ain't standard fare, that's for certain.

TDL said: Also, the sanctum looks seem much more fitting to creatures such as unicorns, pegasi and phoenixes/moonixes which are absent from the lineup, therefore I pick the tree.
I find your perspective interesting.
The somewhat oniric feeling emanating from the Tree Island makes me connect much more to the magical creatures you mention.
I see Sanctum as more warriorish, with its doors willing to unleash the Forest's Fury.

I find sanctum just reeks of magic. Whereas the tree is more about the wild and fury seems like a wild faction in this incarnation.
Also, the art of the sanctum reminds me of the Altmer and ayleids... which were as magical as one can get

Voted Tree Island though this vote isn't that big deal of a deal to me. As long as it looks good.
edit: Yep. It's going to go my way for the 5th time in a row, as will my vote in Dungeon. The manticore has already triumphed over his competition that is bewildered with his awesome magnetism. Even the Faceless and the Medusa voted for the Manticore.

I like both of them but I ended up voting the island tree.
BTW: "- The second one, which will begin right after this one will focus on the lighting and ambiance of the Townscreen."
I really hope this process is done with Dungeon too so we can make sure we get rid of the purple forever.

For Dungeon, I think the initial choice would be a more H6-style city on the floor of a cave and a more H5-style one hanging from stalactites. I'd favour the latter.

No giant millennia-old tree please.
In H5 it was the sole center of attention, everything else was kind of scattered around it.

I'm pretty sure that with a 2D plane, the tree itself won't hog the attention as the literal centrepiece.
Besides, as I said on the blog:
Staying with the Tree Island is good for lore purposes. Just saying, it would strike me as a bit weird in chronology if we had "normal" forest cities now, then a few centuries later Irollan goes "Ooh, check out those gigantic ancient trees! ...LET'S MOVE IN!"

I don't at all mind accents of purple in Dungeon, just as long as the town doesn't look like it's covered in radioactive grape juice.

Oh come on.. this is a bad argument, don't tell me that you would go with the idea that "all elven cities are build around tries".

Less "I think all elven cities are alike" and more "I appreciate consistency and sticking with tree cities raises fewer questions if we run into the same settlements from Heroes V."
