Black-human faction, Yellow-human faction, white-human faction and I'd be called a racist. The key is to call them elves: Black elves, yellow elves, white elves. Afterall, we all know how much of a racist, xenophobe and nazi was Tolkien.

The elves use magic camouflage.
Wouldn't be hard for a Minotaur to do the same.

Minotaurs are known for their muscular bodies, why they would resort to camouflage anyways. We can have magically camouflaged Elephants too, but that is starting to get besides the point.

Of course we're forgetting that in Ashan everything must be done differently, hence why we're having sylvan bodybuilders.

Why wouldn't they? How does having muscular bodies limit their ability to use tactics?Just because they are not humans that look slightly different(they are by the way just not to the extent of elves and dwarves)does not mean they should be limited in their tactical sense unless; of course, they are described as being incapable of doing such.

Of course, that is where magic comes in.

Also, in the caves their home they would have a natural advantage over invaders.

I reckon the guy would have the advantage in the mountains at least.

Do they need to be stealthy in their environment? Underground, dark, maze-like?

This conversation made me realize that the Minotaur dwelling being a labyrinth never made a lot of sense lore-wise, except in H5. The labyrinth was supposed to be the minotaur prison lol. I guess that for the others it could be some sort of rite of passage thing.

It's just a Greek myth reference, I don't think it's meant to have some deeper significance. Made sense for nwc to use, made sense for ubi to continue the tradition I guess Besides, we all know that if ubi writes an explanation as to why Ashan minos dwell in mazes, it would be an excuse Art imitates life.

I love how people try to defend minos so hard that they make up excuses for them to be stealthy. Excuses like "dude, it's magic".

Were elves using magical camouflage outside of gameplay, by the way? It's not something I doubt, just something I'm curious about.

Still, I think you guys should remember that even if you are invisible, or even if you're hidden in darkness, what's the most lethal could be even making a sound. Easy for elves, even wooden ones, but minotaurs? Good luck with that.

@GenyaArikado: It actually doesn't make much sense in Heroes V even, as minotaurs aren't slaves - they originally were, but then they swore loyalty to Malassa and dark elves, so dark elves, appreciating that gesture, gave them their freedom.

Now that I mention it, I think they actually are equals with dark elves, like medusae - it's just that they are simply more of warrior and guards than politicians.

Speaking of medusae - at first I thought that it didn't make sense for them to have classical turning-to-stone ability... but then I saw Stone Angels from Heroes Online, that were turned to Stone by the Faceless during the Elder Wars. Now, it would be quite cool if medusae actually were able to adapt this ability. Even if it's not their gaze anymore, but a spell, at least now it has foundations in the lore.

Not sure what you mean by this.

How is it easy for elves again?
I don't know if there's a lore-explanation for them being able to see in the dark,
all I know is that they wear extremely impractical armor.

Regardless, this stealth thing doesn't really matter.
If you bring an army you're gonna be heard no matter what.
Because if they didn't, the drows wouldn't have lost so soundly to the dwarves.

Actually, elven generals fought full battles in which enemy did not see a single elf - I don't see why dark elves are supposed to lose that ability, now that they have mastered the arts of assasination. As for any reason to be able to see in the dark - well, they kinda made a pact with the Dragon of Darkness? That was a funny statement on your part.

@kiryu: I don't know, but we are not talking about the original minotaur, a fact that Galaad didn't understand either - we're talking about the hybrids made by the wizards of the Seven Cities.

Although we can talk all day about practical reasons, it all boils down to minotaurs simply not being interesting enough on their own. Unless you're into some dudes with bull heads, I won't judge. I like them as a part of a faction, but I hardly see any reason to make them dominant.

Right, dragons. How could I forget the dragons.

So if that's the case, why don't they use that ability EVERY SINGLE TIME?
It's hardly a battle if it's that one-sided.

Sligneris, why do you love these Drow wannabe Druchii lookalikes so much?

I like their culture, society and history, is all.

Dwarves are known for their durability. It is hard to assassinate one in full armor on, I'd think.
