H7 Stronghold - discussion thread
So. At Orcs of Sahaar thread Here, it was proposed, by none other than mighty alcibiades, that, since we now got quite a lot of information regarding Stronghold, a new thread about H7 stronghold should be started on this topic. And I agree with that.
Now. This thread is not dealing about speculation of Sahaar orcs, but rather, it is meant to discuss what we know about Stronghold and also to provide and share new information, that comes about. The reason why I, of all people, have choosen to start this thread is because ... well, it will be my fist thread in these forums, and I decided to grab opportunity. So I hope you won't mind my newness (yes, it's a word). Also, I will try to update this thread, when I have spare time, but don't count too much on it. I am not able to update it, the very second new information has appeared. I may even skip some stuff, so best bet is to scroll through posts of more knowledgable people. If you know anything new regarding Stroghold, please post and discuss it here.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that introduction is over, let's get started. I will start this thread by posting what is so far known about stronghold. A lot of news has poped up recently, and I will try to include as much as I can, but again, keep in mind, I might've missed something.
UPDATE: Stronghold faction has been now revealed. For some this is old news now, but because of that I decided to remove some stuff from this entry post, as it is no longer relevant. There is simply no point to keep low rez small immages and wrongly spelled unit names here anymore.
Now I could, if there is a real desire post the entire lineup with all immages, soundtrack and all, but I personaly belive there is no need for that, since all the information is available at the official site. If you are a moderator, or even if you are not, you are free to PM me about what should I keep and what should I remove, if there is realy any point to it, or if there is any "guideline" on what entry post should look like. I'm still deciding if I should keep the "Heroes" and "Skills" sections here, and they will stay for now.
Anyway, clicking on this link below, you can be redirected to the official M&M site to the Stronghold section, where you can check up on Stronghold units, Town Screen, music score and much more:
Stronghold
---------------
HEROES:
---------------
First (to my knowledge) Stronghold hero, that has ingame screenshot is a female Might hero, Imani. She is Chieftain, according to screenshots (look skills). It is currently unknown if Chieftain is one of the hero classes, but it certainly looks this way. You can also see her depicted in art, if you look at previous image of Behemoth. That is most likely Imani, the same Heroine as from battle screenshots (because of eyepatch and also hair). Anyways, here she is (UPDATE: On the right-most picture, there is portrait of another hero - Stroghold Female Magic hero this time, as well as how Stronghold hero looks on Adventure map):
On this picture below, you can see Stronghold female Might, as well as Magic heroes. Imani is here again, the one on the right. The left one is clearly Stronghold female Magic hero. Note that their Might vs. Magic orientation can be seen also by symbols above their portraits (sword for might, staff for magic).
Anyways, this immage shows also some of the UI of H7. You can see UI has improved, as it is now on one screen: Hero's basic info and stats, Artefacts, Army, as well as 3 slots for what I belive is his/her racial skill / specialization. There is currently 8 artefats slots, hero can equip. Bottom spaces are most likely backpack.
And here is immage of all Stronghold Heroes (from left to right - Stronghold male magic hero, Stronghold female might hero, Stronghold male might hero and Stronghold female magic hero:
----------------
SKILLS:
----------------
This reveals a lot. Here is what has been known from Ubisoft's statement's so far:
- Each hero class will have his/her own version of skill-wheel
- There will be 3 classes per faction
- On pictures above, it is eveident, that all skills are not included in the wheel
From this, and from picture above, we can conclude, that:
- Imani is a chieftain (obviously)
- Chieftain is a class that's a mix between might and magic, as he has both skill types.
Skills available for Barbarian Chieftain hero class thus far (alpha version):
* Bloodrge
* Warcries
* Earth Magic
* Air Magic
* Defence
* Diplomacy
* Leadership
* Explorer
* Warfare
* Destiny
That's 10 skills in total. It looks like, that for other skills, like Dark Magic, you will need other Hero race/class combination. Chieftain will not be able to learn those. Mind you, this is alpha, but it's also logical conclusion to do multiple skill-wheel thing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: Be sure to check some more Stronghold screenshots Here.
Also, to be always in touch with latest news, and more information about Might and Magic: Heroes 7 in general and Stronghold faction aswell, feel free to visit the always great News section at this forums, which can be found Here
As always, fell free to discuss the great faction of stronghold, and post any relevant information.

I agree, this is a very solid line-up! I particularly like how they threw some creatures from the Heroes 3 Fortress in the mix.

So we have only one shooter in Stronghold (Centaur), I guess we can count Harpy as shooter, coz strike and return with no retaliation it's basically another shooter but limited by movement range.

This faction rocks cause it has great champions and elites. Cores are nice too. Great mix of old fortress units. Now if sanctuary could just get lizardmen and dragon flies...

Are you sure that Cyclops is a champion creature? I'd love to see it/him/her as one of the elites and Wyvern - something completely different from Behemoth - as the second champion.

I'm kinda feeling the same way. We seem to know that the Wyvern is in (is it really? I didn't see it in the pics) which could provide more differences between the champs if one's a flyer and one's a walker. However, we wouldn't know the abilities of the cyclops and the behemoth, so beyond speculating that they are both powerful walking melee killers, it's hard to tell why one would choose one over the other at this stage. Perhaps the Cyclops is ranged? Still not too many ranged camps in this game as far as I can tell, so that might be one choice, but, considering the massive club that cyclops wields, this seems slim. I'm getting more of the H5 slayer vibe off the Cyclops more than anything else. But, time will tell.

Yep, Vyvern is imo just a speculation at this point. Some people suggested it. There is picture of a green creature in battlefield screenshot, in the ATB bar - 2 of them - one is Basilisk, the other is probably source of Vyvern speculation. I may be wrong tho.

Simple ... I missed it. Like I said, I'm not proffesional data collector.
But thnx. TS looks sharp. I would say, it's best so far. Defenitly better than other three. It's like Stronghold is getting special treatment by someone ... someone who likes his pet spiders and who's moto is to: "rush now, think latter."

Minor nitpick of the town screen: I don't see any paths to the upper buildings. Guess all the orcs that want to use the facilities further up must be great rock climbers.
