"Of course", Isabella thought grumpily."No that is all", she answered Dragomir unhappily; she then left grumbling to herself until she got back to her work.

- I'll go get them- Allikha said. He returned shortly with several of the throwing weapons. minutes later they were standing nearby a target, where the city guard trained in archery.
- It's all in the movement of your throwing arm- Allikha said to Francis.- Let me demonstrate.
He flung the axe, which landed near the bullseye.
- Here- Allikha said to Francis- Give it a try.

Francis tried out this new weapon, his first throws were... unsatisfactory to say the least, missing completely the center.
After he was a bit more accustomed to the weight of the axes he started getting better though, still missing the center, he started hitting the target first at the outer rings and then moved to the inner rings more and more.
At one point he managed to center the bullseye, but that was a lucky shot...
At the end he managed to hit the target, and considering his first attempts that was already something good for him...
"Well, now I need to top that one, but still thank you for this opportunity, I'll try some more to see if I can use them properly, I'll need this in battle"

((typing with a phone is a pain in the ass))
- Do you wish to hone your swordsmanship then?- Allikha asked Francis while taking out some sparring blades. Among them were axes, longswords and claymores. Some other members of the company decided to train a bit as well, they quickly paired up and started sparring.
- would you like to armor up before we begin?- the orc asked Francis.
Meanwhile Dragomir examined how the preparations were going.
He found a heap of arrows for the hwacha, made by Mikolaj and Elena. They along with Blackbird were having lunch. He went on to find John and Magnus making bolts for the crossbows. Despite his size, the Half-Giant had made the shafts for the bolts of excepcional quality, while Magnus worked the grinding wheel, sharpening the tips of the bolts.
Dragomir was happy with what he saw. He felt a bit guilty for not being able to help out with any of the preparations. But he had other duties. Drago went to his wagon. He took out a detailed map of the kingdom, and started planning out the route of the march.

- Here you go- allikha tossed the claymore to Francis. The orc was acustomed to fight with weapons in both his hands when forced to melee combat. wielding two swords, he faced off against Francis.
the first several of Allikha's blows were blocked or parried by Francis
The ams master smiled.
- You're improving quickly. Drago will be pleased.- He said as he took a defensive stance.
Meanwhile Drago had worked on the fastest possible route towards North Shandra, from where they will wenture to the Uncharted North, from which the company had originally emerged. there were annals of the company kept safe within one of the chests in the Captain's wagon. These tomes were the history of the company, and were ever expanded by the captains of the Brotherhood. According to them, every free company had such a tradition, but the annals of them were either lost or kept as relics in various collections. They do not however, mention why did the original nine companies marched southwards.
Drago sighed. there was quite a distance to cover. Still, he thought he found the fastest possible route to his home duchy.
((Since I'm feeling that we're in a dead end sort of...))
It took few days to make all the necessary preparations. the days went on without much trouble, unless you can count that business in one of the brothels of Navgrod, revolving around Halfman and a loudmouth graduate of Vendigr academy. Drago's only regret was that there was no way to fashion grapeshot for their cannon.
Zet had returned from his scouting tour, his money purse slightly bigger for some reason. he confirmed most of what Dragomir learned from the scouts of Lord Raddwil. The ogre number was slightly more than three dozen. but it didn't mattered much. Dragomir seen to that the company was well prepared for the upcoming battle. Bolts and arrows laced with Isabella's poison, and someone proposed to lace a freshly killed bull with it, so that the ogres or some of them would ingest it with their meal.
It appeared a great idea for Drago, and he agreed to it.
The company was taking shelter in one of fortified, but recently razed villages nearby an ogre encampment, which was made surprisingly close to the settlement. The surviving peasants reluctantly gave up one of their remaining bovines to be laced with poison, and thrown as bait to the ogres. Dragomir assured them that they will get repayed by Lord Raddwil.
By scouting out, the company knew that their adversary although poorly armed, made up for it in their sheer strenght.
from what the scouting party brought back, the armament of the ogres consisted of simple clubs with spikes made from antlers. few had primitive bronze axes, and only few wore rough, patched up bronze scale. one, probably the tribe's chieftain, had a steel sword, and rough steel armor, no doubt made from the armor of fallen Raddwil soldiers.
Drago gave out the order. The ogres were busy doing something amongst themselves, too dimwitted and distracted to notice what was going on right near them. Given enough time the bait was in place and the hwacha was armed and ready to fire.
Few hours had passed, and the ogres noticed the carcass. with great joy, it was hauled back to the camp. the chieftain, and his clique, of course eaten first. The brutish gluttons soon succumbed to the poison, while the rest of them were confused and didn't know what to do, aside to panicking and screaming.
Everything was in set now. The whole company brandished their weapons. Drago ordered to fire the hwacha. The volley was successful sort of speak, several of the ogres were killed by the exploding projectiles, while the rest started panicking even more, running into each other, and doing other clumsy things.
- Loose!- Dragomir commanded, while pulling the trigger of his crossbow. all of the company's crossbows were equipped with a so called goat's foot lever for quick reloading, save for Magnus who had a Kythayan repeating crossbow. Elena and Francis had also discharged their firearms. The company brandished their weapons, while the hwacha operators finished preparing a second salvo. On Drago's command, the deadly projectiles flew out of the siege engine, further terrifying the ogres.
Dragomir issued a warcry, and those more proficient in melee charged forward.
The exploding projectiles made a mess within ogre ranks if you can call them that. many were injured and in no decent fighting capability. Only thing left off, was to finish them off and end their miserable existance.

John was the first to charge as usual. Some think that big creatures are bulky and slow. This is a misconception. A human with gigantism may be clumsy, but a big creature with proper limb proportions has legs long enough and strong enough to carry him much faster than any normal man. The half-giant charge was a part of the company's intimidating tactic - a hulking man swinging a tree-like club. And this time around he was in his full new attire - chainmail, gleaming greaves and a fearsome horned helmet. However, the effect wasn't as good as usual. For one, the ogres were about his size. But more importantly, there was already so much chaos and confusion in their ranks that they could hardly be even more intimidated.
Still, smashing the head of the nearest ogre, blood splattering everywhere, directed the flow of fleeing monsters away from John. He didn't bother with the shield on his back, the ogres didn't use bows and he was clearly a much better melee fighter than they were, so John just concentrated on smashing as many heads as he could before the others get there.

Rushing into the by now setting rainbow smoke and quickly found her first victim as she sliced behind the Ogres knee, forcing him down on the ground and allowing her to easily finish him off. The next one was laying in a puddle of its own blood, made from an arrow stuck in his belly and he was blabbering uncontrollably. Elena stabbed his throat ending him immediately.
She just managed to notice a club going towards her and managed to quickly get out of the way before her face got covered in blood and the owner of the club fell down with half his face missing.

Dragomir ran forward along with Magnus, who despite his short stature managed to keep up. They aimed for the ogre chieftain and his clique.
Isabella's poison worked wonders. Dragomir wasn't sure, but he thought that the hallucinations that the ogres expirienced were something they dreaded most. and it was not legions of dwarves. From what Drago had heard, the Ogres were most terrified of demons. which seemed strange that a tribe of them had been allied with an aspiring demonologist. but it didn't mattered.
As been taught by Magnus, drago went for their legs. His sword an kindjal in hand, he was carefull not to be stomped or swiped away by the panicking ogres. Getting behind one, he slashed his unprotected legs, where the sinew supposedly were. The brute let out a scream and collapsed. Behind him, Magnus was smashing the head of another and yelling something quite similar to "Take this ye basterd!"
It wasn't the time to listen though. Dragomir drove his sword through the ogre's chest, and went off to kill another one.
Magnus had done the same, and by driving the crow's beak of his warhammer into the knee of an ogre he downed the second largest one, besides the chieftain. this one wore nearly a full suit of bronze armor, but it was no match for a weapon forged out of Dwarven Steel.
There was no telling when the poison will stop working, so they had to move quick. but it seemed that the rush won't be necessary, as they already made a huge mess within the ranks of the ogres.
Dragomir found himself right in front of the ogre chieftain. he was the biggest, fattest and ugliest of the bunch. This one however had better armament than the rest of them. There was no doubt now, the steel armor he wore were mismatched pieces of armor from Lord Raddwil's guardsmen and few of his knights as well. There were some larger gaps in the armor though, and Dragomir sought to use them to his advantage. thrusts soon flown into the weakspots, but managed only to pierce the copious amounts of fat that the ogre had. His kindjal was curved and thus was better suited for slashing rather than stabbing. However, Magnus came to help out soon enough. Ogre blood was all over the dwarf's face, beard and clothing. Dragmir fended off the attacks of the Ogre, which were more or less just flails in hope's on fending off whatever the ogre saw affected by the poison.
- I'll try to bust the basterd's legs!- Magnus shouted out to Drago. Dragomir just nodded, and jumped, evading the blow of the ogre. He charged forward and lunged his sword near the Ogres groin. The brute howled from the pain.
Drago pulled out his sword. While the chieftain was focused on Dragomir, Magnus made a move. He used all his strength to punch through a greave the ogre wore or a former breastpalte of a human, to deliver a devastating blow to the ogre's left leg. The bones were shattered upon impact, and the hulking brute fell, giving Dragomir just enough time to dodge it and not be crushed by the mass of fat and muscle that was the ogre chieftain. The back of the neck was completely unprotected, so Dragomir just swung at it, and chopped off the ogre's head. One swing wasn't enough though, but after three more strikes, the head of the chieftain was rolling on the battlefield.

((I find your lack of roleplay disturbing... did the interest died or you fellas are drunk and hungover from celebrating midsummer or crap? or in some sort of a festival? Summer.))
And so, the massacre of the ogres ended just as quickly as it began. The chieftain's head was mounted on a pole, and the looting of the campsite commensed. The search yielded more of those gold amulets, which were quickly aquired by Halfman, who took them to his wagon for divination. There were sacks and crude chests filled with loot, no doubt any worthwile belongings looted from the local villages. the variety raged from coins and silverware to intricate weapons and jewelry.
Magnus found that a bit odd. Ogres usually went for food most of the times. as well as weapons and armor. But this whole ordeal was out of place anyways.
Further search yielded more of pillaged goods, but this was more up the usual haul of an ogre band. wheels of cheese, haunches of smoked meats, freshly smoked kielbasas and other goods that the ogre's didn't made themselves.
As the company crept through the ogre camp to find anything more of value, they were greeted by Lord Raddwil and his entourage. They had been bearing several large sacks of gold in a cart with them. They were roughly equal in weight with to John without his armor on.
Dragomir conversed with the old Duke for a bit, then after bidding each other farewell, instructed the rest of the company to secure their loot within their storage wagons.
The deed was done. This ogre tribe would not be rampaging through this land anymore. Drago helped the few others to burn the Ogre corpses along with their camp.
Deciding to resume march for tommorow, the company broke camp near the battlefield.
Dragomir invited the remaining officers, and with a map on a makeshift table, he decided to consult with the route for marching Northwards.
- This is the route I conceived.- There were many flags pinned to the map, to show the route.- It is the shortest, and amongst one of the busiests roads, so some side work should arise no problem. We do pass by the domain of House Calandrie. Let's hope tey do not try to do anything stupid with Francis here. Would anyone here would like to make corrections to my proposed route or are we good to proceed?
Before he could get an answer, Halfman approaced him.
- I found him!- He siad while pouting.- That blasted fool. Starseeker, or Joanos De Vrysse. Ha! I knew it! payback's a wh0re.
- Is he the wizard who ordered those trinkets? and sent the Ogres?- Drago was confused a bit. Halfman had a habit of not telling everything at first, so you had to question him. It was probably his way of extending conversation.
- Yes!- the tiny wizard said.- He is nearby as well. well, when I say nearby, I mean somewhere in Laziona- Laziona was a duchy to Trakonia's north, and was in Dragomir's proposed route.
- Laziona huh? Look's like Francis is going home. Halfman, can you scrye for his location so that we don't search for a needle in a haystack?
- I can try- The wizard replied.
- Very good.- He then addressed the rest of gathered along the map.
- Like I was saying. does anyone has any suggestions to make regarding my proposed route?

Elena didn't have any objections. She didn't know this place very well so any adjustments would've just been blind. Besides, a chance to fight some wizard could prove fun. She hadn't fought many of them, but it was always an interesting fight when they were involved.

John was staring at the line of flags for a while. His face made it clear that there was something on his mind.
"The shortest and busiest route also means the most predictable. I have to say, Dragomir, this whole ogre business worries me. They shouldn't act like that. I suggest we have scouts out and about at all times to make sure there are no surprises. At least until we find this Starseeker that Halfman talked about and get some information."

- It worries me as well- Drago addressed John's concerns.- Something just doesn't add up to them. But we do have one advantage with us. This Starseeker. Halfman knows his true name.- Drago paused a bit.
- What's on yer mind?- Magnus asked, while plugging a cork into his wineskin.
- Just doesn't make sense at all. if that wizard wishes to claim the goblet to himself, He should've amass a group of minions to tail us into the location of the artifact, then try to wrestle it from us. At least that's how I would do it. Sending in a band of brutish dimwits doesn't seem a wise move to me. unless it's been done to further dwindle our numbers.- Drago sighed.- Besides, didn't Halfman mentioned he turned to demonology? those wizards sooner or later end up insane. Doesn't matter. A word of caution is welcome, but I feel, that there would be safer on one of the main roads.
