Francis took on one of the knights with his Zweihander, charging at him, when he was close he tightly gripped the blade of his sword and drove the hilt of the sword against the helmet of the unfortunate knight, leaving a hole on the helmet and stunning him, Francis then took one his shorter blades and drove it in the hole he created.
But, the knight wouldn't fall from that, and Francis quickly recoiled intercepting the knight's blade with his dagger.
"What devilry is this!? That was a killing blow!"

Running in towards the fighting, Elena came in, tackling the Knight struggling with Francis to the ground and put her blade through his throat.
"You all right?" she managed to ask while looking around, making sure no one would sneak up on them.

He then swung his sword to another incoming knight that simply fell on the ground before.
Then Francis shouted: -Hack them in half!- as he was driving his Zweihander through his opponent's shoulder.

"What a shock necromancy," Isabella thought sarcastically upon taking taking off one of the fallen knights helmets as he crawled towards her. She had already shattered both his of legs, and preceded to shatter his head too. "Well at least maces are good for this," she muttered as she engaged another.

A ball of light floated around Halfman. He and a few others were fending off some of the knights. The ball of light circled around Halfman one last time and stuck to the chest of one of the attacking knights. A ray of sunlight came forth from the wizard's staff, piercing the knight's armor, and igniting him from within.
- They're undead!- the tiny wizard shouted.- the magic keeping them alive reside in the heart! Go for the heart!
Easier said than done. But eventually, after vigorous fighting, the risen knights have been defeated. It turned out that severing the head also worked.
The company stripped the corpses of anything of value, mostly their weapons, and tossed the bodies into a pile, which was set ablaze.
- Looks like your fears are well justified.- Dragomir said to Francis. The amber on his sword stopped glowing after the last risen knight was squashed by John.
- one hell of a bloody welcome- Magnus said and spat on the ground. One of the knights managed to cut him on the left arm and on the forehead. The wounds bled a lot, and Magnus only had an improvised bandage on his injured arm that he hastily made from his tabard. None others were injured.
- Hey, lass,- He adressed Isabella- help me out here- he said as some blood on his forehead went into his eyes. The dwarf cursed heavily.
None as of yet noticed that peasants from a nearby farmsted had exited their home and were cheering for the company.

"Tsk, tsk, foolish knight", I said from the rear, "It would've been better for him if he had taken his helmet off to see who he's dealing with."
I went forward and took a closer look at the ground the knight was standing on. "Heavy armor indeed. So heavy, in fact, that it made the horse leave the hoofprints in the dirt. Stay clear from the direction they came from and we'll be safe."
I paused for a moment.
"No, wait. We must not tarry. I see it now. It all makes sense when you put the pieces together. Drago, make what you want of it, but we are in hostile territory now."

- Oh you don't say- Drago replied to Zet, but without any sort of bitter sarcasm or anything like that.
- barred up settlements, scared smallfolk and undead and probably lesser voidspawns running willy nilly through this whole blasted duchy. But nothing we can't handle.
Drago paused. He was thinking.
- I think we should make a little detour, and move off the main road for a while.

Francis went up to Dragomir and said: -And here I thought my aunt suddenly went senile, but, I guess this is difficult to believe... Give me some time here, I'll try to see what the people can tell us about these undead and regarding "lady" Viola.-

- Perhaps these people over there- Dragomir noted the cheering peasants- can be of some use.
Magnus washed his bloodied face with a piece of cloth soaked in strong spirit, which was used to clean up the wounds.
The cut on the forehead wasn't a deep one, but bled awfuly. Thanks to Isabella's magic, it was healed quickly. The wound on the Dwarf's arm was a tad more serious.
- Thank Alberich the blasted bugger didn't cut me artery- Magnus said while unplugging the cork of his wineskin.

- As if the king didn't had enough problems...- Drago said, mostly to himself. The last thing the king needed right now was and open conflict between two noble houses.
- We need able bodied men for the service of the king.- Drago said.- However, the marshes are a treacherous place. It would be good to contact them. Do you suspect that one of the supposed nobles are of your kin Francis?- Drago asked the knight. He just nodded.
Dragomir scratched his beard. This had conflicted with his plans. However, this mess had to be sorted out if the company should resume it's march.
- I don't like snooping around unfamiliar wetlands.- He said.- If we go into contact with the lads, we need a guide. Someone who knows the area like a back of his hand. Seeing as this won't be an easy journey through this duchy, I'd say we get as many hands as we need.

Meanwhile John was observing one of the fallen bodies. He tore off the straps that held the armor together and carefully opened it, like one would open an oyster. There wasn't much to look at, however, without the magic holding it together the corpse crumbled into a pile of human remains. Dry bones and rotten tissue was all that John saw. He walked over to Halfman who was examining the corpses as well.
"What do you reckon, Halfman? Could this be the work of Starseeker as well?"

"I can go and talk to them", I said as I approached the group, "Methinks it'd be of use to have them around to help us move around the place more... freely."
Now, I wasn't that enthusiastic about walking through a swamp, but I came up with a brilliant idea of taking on the evil necromancer and looting his place... err I mean free the duchy! With the help of willing lads such as ones laying hidden in the said marsh.
"Drago, if we could get their help, we could potentially go against the necromancer behind this. Just think of what the king would feel like if we handled the problem before everything got out of hand. He may also reward us with the... land, I guess. Lots of coin, too, to help rebuild the Brotherhood. I advised against staying in this land, however, if we get more people with us, we can stand a chance fighting Francis' sister-in-law."
Again, Drago was the one to make the decision.
