It again is probably Ubisoft fault. There was agreement upon some things and to change them is not simply change couple of files but they would have to go through process of contacting Ubisoft and getting permission to change these things. Having a publisher is really a thing that is probably forcing HoMM developers to make some decisions which they wouldn't make otherwise. Like I am pretty sure it is Ubisoft decision to put  a lot of emphasis on the campaigns because they are the most important for a lot of buyers who are going to buy the game play couple of them and then uninstall HoMM and move on to the other titles.

To any modder, can you make the towns bigger on the map? I mean heroes 6 big?

Map Editor — Advanced mode — Content Browser — Look for particular spell/hero/creature in directory tree — Archetype
Everything else is in Archetype.

It is possible. But there are two reasons for not to do so.
1. Technical limitation. Almost every town at Campaign and Scenario maps are connected with the environment (decorative structures, mountains, trees, etc.). And if you make a town bigger, then you must fix all possible collisions with surrounding objects. It's a lot of work. Besides all maps from original game are locked and I can't open it in the map editor (or maybe I simply didn't find how to do it).
2. Design limitations. All maps in H7 are created in such way that you look at it from a bird's-eye. Small trees, small houses, fields... Almost every map represents a really far distance. Like a whole duchy or something. Compared to H6, where everything was so chambered and a journey from one town to another was like crossing a backyard garden, in H7 you actually can feel this huge distances. That why small towns has meaning. And I must admit that I really really love this design decision, cuz it gives me back this feeling of a great adventure form H3  And big towns will ruin it.

3lion thanks for the reply. i get what you are saying but it' a shame that your town is almost as big as your hero. in heroes 6 it was way more distinguishable and and you could see the improvements with the walls(that was my favorite, it gave your town and actual shape).
i know it can't be done but it would be nice if the towns at least had walls and shapes.
but that's just a minor detail. i hope i will learn how to mod eventually and make my cabirs small like pixies or smth

Who cares about official gold content anyway? Let's make it proper and use it in the fan made creations. Perhaps then we'll force Ubi/Limbic to change their internal agreements.

Disagree. Yes maps are created in a way that you must use a far zoom to actually being able to manage it. Then you see a nice landscape but everything else gets ridiculously small (event the disproportionate big heroes). In H3 you never had a problem to distinguish a hero, town, resource pile or any visitable location for that matter, while you still had a nice strategical view. That's what I would like to have in H7 and that can only be achieved by increasing the scale of everything but the landscape.

By the way I couldn't check your mod yet, but if it works without major issues this would be really amazing (for many reasons).

Just to ponder a little... Do our modders believe it possible to introduce Sanctuary rom heroes VI into Heroes VII? I mean, can it be done by the mechanics of the editor?

They've stated adding new factions is possible through modding though possibly only in specific maps.

Yeah, but as i understood, it was possible by modding the existing factions. Meaning shuffling the units from one faction to the other.

I am asking if the units from Sanctuary can be imported into the Heroes VII game, like they did to reuse so many units themselves

I would suggest to check for Unreal Engine Marketplace. There is some cool stuff in there but most of 'em costs some dough..
Still if you want a particular static mesh, especially like Garden of the Wee Folk or whatever, you probably should create it by your own (or hire some cool and free 3D artist, I'm sure there some cool 3D artists among Heroes community). Don't know if extracting it from H5 will help, because of low poly model in there.. Worth of trying though.

You don't really need to create a global mod in this case. What you need to do is to create a new pack with modified Towns and share it here or elsewhere so that other mapmakers could use it in theirs custom maps. It will be much easier for all. For players (since they don't have to install any mod at all as it will be distributed with custom map inside) and for mapmakers as they don't need to worry about mod compatibility and all

It is possible. Not that easy for me though but possible. For guys who well-versed in 3D modeling and all it would be as easy as ABC. Got one?

Unfortunately no... I got no clue about modding and of modders here... Though i wish someone will rise up to the task

Maybe we will get Inferno and Stronghold far sooner than the developers intent to bring it

According to what Ubi - Limbic said (believe at your own risk) it is perfectly possible to create new factions without the need to reuse existing factions.

What about new creatures though?? If there was a tool like the create a sim or what spore did to create creatures it would be somehow possible. But right now, i think it is only possible to assign existing units to town building etc...
