Someone here was saying they were worried a Chinese developer might make a Might and Magic FPS.
But that has already happened, indeed NWC did it (and blotched it destroying all the original features and scrapping them) to become a pale clone of counter strike.
Legends of Might and Magic
They had good ideas about campaigns and maps and chests and experience, but executive meddling killed them in favor of a flat shooter unreal tournament game.
Also Ubisoft had Dark Messiah, which was ALSO a sort of M&M FPS more than an actual RPG, so...
Chinese developers generally lack in the creativity department but they sure can do good programming and graphics (if it's not a small team of mercenary noobs like the Ubithing outsources everything to to develop their stuff for pennies, and then releases the games under AAA prices...)
Quote: Ubisoft Representative:
“We’ve heard what our fans were saying, and we think we have ticked all the boxes to improve everything they wanted, plus we have brought some new innovation,” Corre says.
“The new character Marcus is very charismatic. You can hack anything you want and it is now twice as big as the previous one. It is also super colourful and nice to look at.
This shows Ubisoft's priorities in a game: Super colorful and nice to look at... very "innovation", eh...

3DO screwed things up by asking nwc for more and more might&magic releases. As for ubi's priorities, these guys are just hopeless.

Yeah, I agree with you there. The last years it seemed they were overtasked and underfunded. 3DO was also rapidly approaching bankruptcy so instead of having a long term strategy, they wanted to rush developers all they could if only to forestall the inevitable for a few months, or wait for a miracle.
NWC were dedicated guys but one cannot make a work of "love" with a game so to speak (or art, maybe that's the better term) if you have to keep pumping titles every six months or so.
Ubisoft has no excuses though, they are a multi billion dollar company with huge profits; I'm sure even their "M&M Heroes" team and projects are also much better funded than NWC ever was... they just seem to not even care or be interested to make a good game out of it at all.

Guillemot and his board of directors holding the highest level of responsibility for the mistreatment of the M&M franchise get their privilege of handling it any further revoked from them. Why wouldn't you be happy? It's poetic justice that the company which killed Heroes gets to pay by going under too, serves them just right.

We won't be seeing any improvement from this.

what will probably change is we will go from being worried about Ubisoft repeatedly ******* Might and Magic to not worrying because Vivendi will likely not even acknowledge its existence lol

I hold little hope for Heroes under Vivendi, but I hold equally little hope for it under UbiSoft, so if the demise of Heroes is joined by the demise of UbiSoft, I'm not above feeling that they got what they deserved.

What are you hoping for ? Vivendi is like EA which has always been worse than Ubisoft for pushing game releases, releasing unfinished products and not caring about customers. It's as if until now you had cholera and suddenly got yersinia pestis

Maybe they would realize making Might & Magic products isn't really worth the time and would just bury it, rather than embarrassing themselves and others with unfinished games. And, maybe then, that Quantomas project can continue being developed.
The only thing left, I guess, is also to wait for that mobile phone Heroes game. Since Duel of Champions has gone inactive.
