ok, In all seriousness, this is pretty terrifying. As much as I dislike Ubi I hope it doesn't go through since that would mean the loss of livelihood for a lot of people and that wold be much worse than not having a worthy successor to a video game brand.

Taking over Ubi will likely involve bleeding it dry or in general make it weaker which might cost jobs not to mention talent fleeing the ship so to speak, making it a mostly shell of little value.

It's hard finding work in this industry But Ubi does supply a lot of them. If they disappear that will hit a lot of people very hard and that's not funny.

I'm sure Vivendi're not investing millions of euros in shares they plan on devaluing one way or another, if there's anything you can put your money on is that they want to make a profit, not kick themselves in the foot.

You could say the same for UbiSoft?

I guess they will form new job positions? I am fairly certain among that Ubitopia there are some qualified people that have been pushed down and couldn't show their skills.
And the tone of that text sounds like the Guillemot bros know there is some criticism, but they do not know how severe it is, now how to respond to it properly.

And you know what's terrifying? They really believe they are making creative games... Like.. which ubisoft was creative from the past 7years, Blood Dragon aside? None of them. What has the gami g industry come to... That's the terrifying thing...
I loved ubisoft once... but now? They r the new EA making snow after snow.

Isn't there a French rule that Vivendi has to start with bidding when they got over 30% ownership or something?

great find mate but a bit of a fly in the ointment, apparently Yves' pathetic whining is yielding some results, in the interests of Might and Magic hopefully Vivendi will buy that up even faster lol

Why do you want Might & Magic franchise to end so much?

Personally, I think it is better to just let the franchise be buried deep in the sleep. Any attempts to do something have been a failure. It's basically a disgrace that a game gets launched with so many bugs that makes it nearly unplayable, so they can simply "patch it up" later.
It's just that ever since NWC and 3DO died off, we get incompetence. Sure, Heroes V did work out in the end (even if there are still some people that scoff about it), but then it just feels they gave up, after some of Erwin's friends got, well, fired. And these new games just make the MM franchise look bad and I'd be really surprised if someone decided to buy off the IP rights. Even so, it is doubtful they can live up to their NWC predecessors to make a game they and we can be proud of.
Even if the MM franchise was to survive a second time, whom would the IP rights belong to? Sure, there are some franchises that dabble in strategic genre, but would they have a vision of the Might & Magic franchise and how to achieve it? All things Ubi has done in the past five years have just made a big stain and push the franchise further into its demise.
And, finally, there is also one more thing: to regain the trust of the fans. Ubitopia caused a lot of people to be wronged and caused even more hatred. You know already that many people have spammed and trolled and voiced their anger at Ubi. None of that would've happened if they released a game people would be fond of, to enjoy and play. Individuals exist, but are they really what Ubi is after? Only smaller games, like Clash of Heroes, Duel of Champions, etc. are what can be called successes from Ubi production.
It's not like the franchise will actually stop, though. There is also that Quantomas persona, who works on his project involving Heroes.
Just saying after 30 years of the franchise, there are a lot of demands and expectations for a new game, which I do not believe they can be accomplished easily enough. Maybe out of publisher's desires and maybe out of lack of knowledge.

I don't want it to end. I love it. But what Ubi does with it makes me sick, and is a disgrace for the franchise. They did something good with it (H5) and instead to continue with that, they ruined the game and the franchise. To me, it is like someone is beating the poor corpse of M&M in order to get some money. So, I would love to se M&M away from Ubi, even if it means it's (temporary) end.

Sorry, the post was originally adressed to verriker, I forgot to add the citation.
However my opinion from general view is that Ubisoft continuing working on Might & Magic franchise > nobody officially working on Might & Magic franchise, or actually anyone woM&Mf > nobody woM&Mf.
You can always ignore the newer games or hope somebody mods them enough.

No worries We just have different views. I would love to see someone who knwos what he does working on M&M, and can't stand the current butchering. You, on the other hand, like newer games, and I respect that. As for ignoring, that is why I haven't bought H7, and won't by Rise of Hamsters. But I will still comment on Ubi's work, as that is my duty as M&M fan

Vivendi is the former owner of blizzard entertainment.
When they had a rough time they had to sell blizzards high value share.
This gives hope as they then understand how to nurish a good developers freedom that takes allot of time.
I however want HOMM to be sold to blizzard, then it will prob be something

If we look at the recent track record of Blizzard, I wouldn't actually put my hopes too high.

And they sold them to the Devil. Under Activision banner, Blizz has been nothing but a shade of what it once was.
