You say it like it's a bad thing to follow the example set by one of the biggest adventure films of all time...

I sadly feel it was not anywhere near to live up to all the hype it created. Pretty much a copycat with all of its characters and plot. The new Darth was indeed very badass with his helmet on, but once it came off he became a whimp. I also think it was too early to deliver a Han Solo death. And srsly, despite the wound, a trained sith gets schooled out in a lightforce fight by a girl who has never even practiced? Give me a break sigh...

Here is a little feature that shows how special effect were made for The Force Awakens. Better watch it quickly, because it has already disappeared from YouTube and Vimeo.

I am getting more and more impressed by the work that guys in Industrial Light & Magic did for The Force Awakens. Here you can see how Maz Kanata came to live and here is a bunch of interviews with guys responsible for visual effects in Episode VII. After that, I strongly reccomend to see this documentary. You will be surprised in what unexpected ways in terms of visual effects new Star Wars pays tribute to the Original Trilogy (with adequate progress in technology.)

Yeah, it was lot of respect that the movie did not use so much CGI. Characters and effects specially.

Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.
