Honestly, I don't see why would anyone be racist in a country like that. Before the Europeans invaded, you got the native Americans. And after the Europeans came, thousands of slaves from Africa came. It's kind of strange, when you see that such kind of people actually took people from Africa to work as slaves. Once they gained their rights, you get these millionaires (plus KKK) that want to "purge" them from their country.

An interesting read. I think it is a sign of the danger that sociocultural influences can play in mental health as a medical science. Sadly many "therapists" really don't have extensive medical training but are influencing the medical decisions being made by susceptible people.

I think that everyone should actually read this at face value - it's saying that medical/chirurgical transgender solutions are green-lighted too easily be therapeuts. THAT is what this blog is about. Not about giving any reasons WHY (especially mentally unstable young female) people are diagnosing themselves as being in the wrong body.
The WHY is open to discussion, and it would be downright idiotic to point a finger to "too liberal" society.

Well, "the valorizing" doesnt exist in here, so I have no idea how accurate the observation is, but it seems far fetched to me to hypothetize many youngsters would go through something as painful and extreme as a sex change operation only because the TV says it's cool. Teenagers can be quite shallow but this is serious surgery and it's quite a scary thing to go through just for kicks.

It is not hard to comprehend but that doesnt mean you have to agree with all of the conclusions. I'm quite skeptical when it comes to Jungians in general, anyway.

When there is no scientific base and people can only speculate, there should be an automatic hold-on about permanent changes as castration, taking hormones etc. Moreover, on kids who have zero life experience, people pushing them to surgery should lose their diplomas and be prosecuted for putting others life in danger. Studies show that transgenders post AND pre surgery suicide rate remains unchanged, 10 times higher than everyone else, so nobody can confirm today that physically changing sex is solving the inner conflict this people go through. It will make things only worse because there is no comeback when you destroy what nature did.

I agree, it is not and shouldnt be a light decision, actually what I'm saying is, the article at some point makes it sound like a lighter decision then I estimate it to be. But keep in mind that when your genitelia and biochemistry dont match, that is also nature. Nature can be quite chaotic. Her examples are not geniunely like this anyway though, at least according to her observations.

That's silly. If you are a grown-up - and 18 qualifies - you can do what you want with your body, and that includes a transgender operation. It's just that society doesn't have to PAY UP for every case, just because someon claims it would be necessary.
Otherwise - who cares? You could just as well make a law dictating maximum weights for everyone, because, obviously, being fat is bad for your health.

It shouldnt be illegal if you're over 18, of course. But providing serious consulting about the side effects doesnt hurt. It's not as simple as getting fat.

It's not you who does the operation, it's a doctor that does it to you for the purpose of improving your condition.
