EDIT: v1.10 blows btw, i had to spend 20mins to kill blood raven at nightmare diff lol

don't bother with the bosses. regular creatures must give you enough xp to get some lvl ups. After than go for the bosses. 
And in nightmare diff. you get extra powerful items. Just make more runs and you will get more. The higher the lvl you are the less likely the mosters are to hit you, and the more likely you are to hit them. Just don't lose hearts because you are very weak yet. After you go above approx. lvl40 you will be surprised to find yourself thinking that blood raven was such a weakling.
I recommend you to go for the countess as much as possible WHEN you are able to. Because she drops rune/s %95 of the time you kill her.
If the early lvls of nightmare are too tough for you yet, go kill Baal several times. His drops are good, and he is easy

bah baal gave me a birdy helmet (for druids) and some sucky lawn remover. Oh and a regular ruby.. his drops sucked in my game.
though he was kinda easy.. only problem was the necro boss, those corpse explosions killed me on several occations hehe.
And ya, ill try and get some more exp. then... just is hard when i have a tendency to be cheap on me life potions and die all the time because of it hehe

hehe ok... do i have to kill all these units before him this time too?
EDIT:
oh and btw, since DS seems to have a lack of broadband problem i guess its just 3 of us now. (that and i guess it would be good for him to make the game at singleplayer so he knows some about the game before start a multi one  )
So consis&bort, you got some hours free this weekend?
