Fare Thee Well My Beloved
It's been a long time since I last played Diablo2 LoD. My last game was with Sir_Stiven.
I've just removed and uninstalled all diablo games and versions from my computer to forever be put away for safe keeping.
I will not forget all the years I've spent playing Diablo, diablo2, and all the expansions. I started playing the original before I even met my wife of many years. I recall all the fun I had in Tristram, the dungeons, catacombs, and hell. The old apocalypse hacked staff, godly plate of the whale, king's sword of haste, etc. After so long waiting they finally released part two. It was amazing, the necromancer revive was overpowered, the paladin's blessed hammer was too, and also the barbarian whirlwind. Back then everyone wanted a "babba" and the best pike they could find. The unique armor "silks of the victor" was highly sought after, and so were frostburn gloves. When the expansion and patches finally hit the scene the amazon became the ultimate character when using slow items. Most people refer to slow items as cheating even though they bought most of their best stuff on ebay. I remember my friend and I spent 340 dollars on ebay mostly for magic find stuff. We did Mephisto runs, pindleskin, etc. That was back when the bloody foothills were the most popular for leveling up. Fire sorceresses ruled with too powerful firewalls. Nowadays the amazon is the ultimate with slow items and hacked bows. It's all good though because I had fun playing the game for well over six years, maybe more.
I will never forget the friends I made, the fun I had, and the demons I slew. In real life, killing those computer demons was great therapy. Six years of my life with a fantastic game and I wouldn't change a thing.
Fare thee well my beloved Diablo and all your quests. I will never forget you. I'll think of you often and remember the courage of its heros. Perhaps one day we shall meet again on the plains of battle, but until then, adieu, adieu.
Edit: I have just found an email I sent to diabloii.net detailing some of my thoughts. I didn't think they kept it but this email must be several years old.
Whether or not people are annoyed or have lost interest in the Diablo games will not have much of an impact on its future. Game sales will of course rise and fall but there will be a strong following as long as it remains in sync with the latest forms of its own style of play. Game popularity for this particular game is more largely based on a human psychological characteristic. That being its ability to consistently distract and repetitiously build confidence much in the same way a child who performs tasks that he or she enjoys. In the game-world I've heard it called "dungeon-romping" or "hack-and-slash". In the future historians will undoubtedly refer to the most popular games of this time and give the explanation: These games are forms of humanity's progress and as Teller once said in support of atomic science: "Progress cannot be stopped." Therefore I urge those waiting for the next patch to have patience. It's only a matter of time.

While Diablo II is a far more popular game than Diablo it wasn't such an impressive game for its time. Remember D2 started off with the same 640*480 Diablo 1 had except D2 was released 4 years later. Diablo 1 is often single handedly credited as reviving the RPG genre on PC aswell.
Though D2 is far more interesting and replayable than Diablo it is no where near as immersive, atmospheric and scary as the original. Monsters like Lazurus, Butcher and Diablo could kill an unprepared character almost instantly and had very freaky, gothic cutscenes and voices also. "Ah Fresh Meat!". Oh and for the record I'm not suffering from Diablo 1 nolstalgia, I actually bought D2 first and yet still appreciate the merits of the original.

I will never forget the months or years that I spent playing Diablo 1.
I think I finished it in 2 days without cheats (not like there were any).
I will never forget the fun that I had when I was playing that game.
It had a really good story, some of the dialogue was a bit funny in my opinion, but it was still good, and the graphics were realy good at that time.
But sometimes it was a little to easy. But none the less, it was still a great game and it still is.
I have played Diablo 2 and it does have much better graphics.
But In my opinion I think that the Original game is the best, although there are some games which have magnificent sequels, but Diablo 1 is one of the really good games on my list.
