Quote: Marelt Ekiran said "Three men have dinner in a restaurant. The waiter comes with the bill and it is $75. The three men decide to pay for the bill together and they each pay $25. The waiter brings the money to the manager, who notices that the calculation was wrong. The dinner did not cost $75, but $70. The manager hands the waiter five one-dollar bills and tells him to give it back to the three men. The waiter for a moment wonders how to divide five bills among three people. Finally, he decides that they had not given him a tip yet. So he gives each of them one dollar back and keeps the two remaining.
The three men have now paid $24 each. $24 x 3 = $72. Then there are the two dollars that the waiter kept, making the total $74. But where did the last dollar of the original $75 go?"
I know its similar to angelitos but these are the numbers that have been in my head. Figure it out and tell me! thanks.
There weren't two dollars remaining of the total amount paid. It was 2 dollars of the five dollars paid in excess. He kept 2 of the extra dollars. They all paid 24 dollars. He keeps the remaining two dollars in excess of the bill and gives back 3.
Original dollars - Cost of meal = Extra five dollars
75.00$ - 70.00$ = 5.00$
3 of the excess dollars was given back.
5.00$ - 3.00$ = $2.00
The waiter kept 2.00$ extra, so he was paid 72.00$. It was just a riddle designed to make a person think backwards by the way it was presented.

Okay, then mathematicly solve how this...
Since the guy's paid $25 and got back one eatch. They each paid $24.. The bill was only 70, not 75.. The waiter kept 2 gave the the other 3 back.
Ok, $24x3=$72..
Follow?? 3 dollars are missing now, how did the waiter only keep $2 when 3 is missing (mathematicly)

Ok, I suppose I can understand why you might still be confused, because I personally don't think that response was very clear either
Since nobody has offered anything else I guess I'll try to set things straight. I hope this is coherant enough to be understood. This is how I went about figuring it out.
***
There was a charge of $75.
It should've been $70 so $5 of those original dollars had to be returned.
$2 of the dollars the waiter kept and $3 were returned to the three men.
Each of the three men did in fact end up paying $24 for a total of $72.
Since $3 of the original amount was returned to them from what they paid before, $3 is how much they save.
Since the waiter kept $2 that's part of the amount of the original $75 that the men still had to pay.
$2 is not what they save, but rather part of what they didn't save.
If you save $3 that's a discounted price from $75 to $72.
$72 is what they paid.

Now letīs try some new ones:
1. What starts with "e" ends with "e" and contains only one letter?
2. Which room has no door, no windows, no floor and no roof?
3. Why is the world like a faulty jig saw puzzle?
So thatīs enough for now....
Iīm waiting for your solutions....

There was a empty wine bottle. In the bottle was a string and on the string was a ring. The string was hanging from the cork and the ring was tied to the string.
How do you get the ring off the string and onto the bottom of the bottle? (you can't open the bottle, touch the bottle, move the bottle, make the bottle fall over, you cant break the bottle)

...where was the cork?
So the ring is inside of the bottle, right?

yeah its inside the bottle. The cork is where a cork ususally is. The string is attached to the cork. The ring is tied the string.
Sorry if i explained it in a confusing way

I fail to see what the sidewalk has to do with it. If it's not already hot enough outside, just bring your own heater over to it. I don't really know if this would work but since glass melts at fairly high temperatures, I figured that if you made the bottle really hot, then the air molecules inside would start moving around really fast causing a buildup of enough pressure to pop off the cork. Then without touching the bottle, you just take the ring off of the cork and then drop it back into the bottle.
At least I think that's what would happen...

yeah i guess thats close enough. You use a magnifying glass to melt the string. Then the ring falls right to the bottom. Good Job!

well, you said you can't touch the bottle, so wouldn't it be easiest to push the cork into the bottle, only touching the cork, and not the bottle.
