We must all be in hot water then for I am sure almost every player in their young and nooby days thought that building Town Hall week 1 = Best tactic ever.
Back in some time I really enjoyed saving my economy first That was the reason why I loved castle so much, because when you have 2000k building you can build many creature dwells without delay. But I luckily changed my mind about building order
The funny thing in my case is that I had the right tactic from the very start as a kid. Stronghold was my number one town and getting Behemoths day 2-3 was my primary goal. Only problem was that after I got them I was short of cash (since I did not conquer anything) and thus the obnoxious 'rush Capitol' strategy came up. I felt so smart to finally have a deployable tactic. (Hey we must admit it does work marvelous against the AI since you can turtle good via map or town).
But this changed over the years when I spent time with campaigns. I realised that my units were quite strong on their own and with the right battle tactic used they could become even stronger. I also got more and more worried about the AI. For the longer I turtled Capitol the stronger their forces got. Which made me rework my tactic again. Only this time when I conquered things I only did so with one hero and it quickly became clear that one main hero alone was not enough to sweep through everything on time. Now I am a chain-a-holic.
It feels wierd to look back on a map that took me normally 6-7 months to complete and now I do it on 2-3 weeks.
