Hold on here...

Are you saying that by not allowing them to get married, they cease to exist?

-----------------------

Here is the conversation as you'd have it:

Bob:  "Hey, Lets get married!"

Joe:  "We Can't, it's not legal."

Bob:  "If that's the case, lets break up, and I'll find a wife.  Once I'm married and homophobic like the rest of the country, I can track you down and beat you up."

Joe: "DOH!"

---------------

The marriage question does not have anything whatsoever to do with the likelyhood of seeing a gay couple on the street, or the general population of "gays".

The same child likely asked you what that dog was doing on the back of the other dog last week.  Use the same explanation.

As a person of, some would say, religious tendencies, but not a Christian per se, I would like to remind you all that one does not have to be a Christian to believe in a Creator or God.

So, Kaiser, are you asking if Bort believes in God, or are you asking if he is a Christian?

A while ago, my signature was a bumper sticker saying, "God is not a name.  It's a job description."  It's pithy, it's flippant, and it describes perfectly why discussions like the one starting on about page 4 of this thread drive me nuts.  For someone like me, concerned with the legal status of same-sex partnerships in her country, the whims of Other People's Gods are completely irrelevant.

[Zeus] took Ganymede as a lover.  Is that relevant to this discussion?  Do you care?  No?  Then why should a Hellene care what your god says?  (I'm not Hellene/Greek; this is just an example.)
[Edit:  a certain wise**** noted my confusion of gods here.    I should also mention that while Greece has long since been Christianized, there are still people around who worship the gods of Olympus.]

Maybe someone should just make a Bible thread.

Aculius, you may not know this, but the Anglican Church is currently thinking about dividing in two over the recent appointment of a homosexual bishop.  One of the most divisive issues the leadership of that Church is now battling over is whether to bless gay unions in the same manner as the chuch blesses heterosexual unions.  In fact, there is a global firestorm over this development that is receiving very little press.  It is my understanding that Anglicans in Muslim countries are being attacked and Churches are being firebombed.

(All this global tension tends to support Milena's suggestion in her post that the human race is not ready to accept this yet.)

Anyway, I sometimes go to a church which, because of its total acceptance of homosexuality, about a fourth (my guess) of the parish are homosexual.  So your presumption that homosexual people tend to be godless or religionless is not accurate. It seems that sexual orientation does not have any direct relationship with spirituality, at least not in the negative sense.

Froyd could say that homophobic ppl subconceously put the thought into their mind that homosexual relasionships are wrong cuz it is a governing thought... Allthough hetrosexual is much more natrual so there isnt much question at all, wethornot hetrosexual is ok.

and also its natrual for hetrosexuals to feel revulted to the idea of sexual acts or emotional love with the same sex.

Just, the awnser to {is gay ok?} is much more capable to be written off as no, than yes. But that dosnt mean its not ok.

The world has majorities, and if we want to say an ideal father tells his son not to be gay cuz its not right, then thats fine and we can say it anywhere we want to. And if the world is like father, we have a right to say no homosexual marrige. And we have a right to restrain any message portraying that homosexuality is natrual.

you live in seclusive openess  and I have nothing against it but It is ok to have a world saying its wrong and mistakes should be avoided. to avoid self shame

What the he[ck] is "seclusive openness?"

If society says that homosexuality is not okay, this does not prevent self-shame -- it causes it!  People born with homosexual/bisexual tendencies are taught that there is something wrong with them.  That is exactly how self-shame starts.

Can you imagine yourself in a world that condemned heterosexuality?

for the record.. if your gay fine. I dont think its right to outcast someone for being gay even as family or friend.

The world would be kind of messed up if it was even half bi half straight, but if the message you want everyone to know is that gay is ok, sorryy.. but I totaly think that message shouldnt be made.

heres the message i like this 1
What is normal, is man & woman.
If ppl are gay they should beable to live life, but to have the same public relasionship that revolts normality is frowned upon. Gay marriges dosnt make it ok it makes it legal. and all the childeren should definately not have to listen to protests with a mesage "gays ok". The childeren can know, that some ppl would rather be unnatrual. The childeren can know, that if they turn gay their not to be outcasted and looked down upon, but for certain, natrual earth is seed and egg, man and woman. And the rest of the world

aint gonna think anything different

the men, and women, arent gonna say its natrual
you can.. but we of the world have every right to stand up for what is natrual

Look, this is a defined case of left right senario.

Homosexuals are on the left.
Hetrosexuals are on the right.

if what your all trying to do is grab people from inside a fence, theres to much right in the world. If you go gay, you live a life of cival peace in the pressence of others. But it is taught by TV and media, and school, and ideal fathers, that it is natrual reasoning, that seed and egg, man and women, be together when they grow up.

People are not born with homosexual tendencies, that is like saying that a true naturally born killer can exist, but that doesn't make it true. Homosexuality is a conscious and, IMO, deplorable decision in which the natural course of life is horribly disrupted. If we were intended to mate with the same sex, then we would have been given the organs to do so, but we do not possess them. Why people would choose to be homosexual is beyond me, but the attraction is not natural.

I am a Christian, and while the Bible does influence my decision, I would still realize that homosexuality was unnatural without its guidance.

~*everyones born with homosexual tendancies*~

You, have homosexual tendancies until you die!
All it takes is the change of your governing self concsiousness. Layers of concsious thought cover it and protect the governing `selfhomo`phobic governing and concsious thought. But the tendency is still in everyone. I dont care how macho you are

~*To change the unconcsious governer*~
For guy's, its yukish to change your *G* thought cuz of the whole butt thing.. ew ew I mean, not all often thanks and certainly not with a guy!

Girls got it easy cuz their hot, sexy, gorgeous, pretty, nice, caring, loving, sad, emotional, butterflies, happy, ect.. But that dosnt make it different in the main essence

Anyways, girls are awsome by nature but the "typical" guys seem like hormone drones.

I might not be grasping what you're saying fully, but what I gather, you claim that everyone has homosexual tendencies, yet some choose to suppress them. I don't recall myself ever having homosexual tendencies. I have very limited self-control, yet I have never once found any guy attractive in that way, in fact, I find the thought repulsive. I do not have to suppress that feeling because it is non-existent in me. Not everyone has to battle homosexual desires.

Besides, why would nature allow us to develop tendencies that allow us to deviate from the way things are intended to be?

There is a ton of stuff to have in mind, for reasons why its the wrong choice. I dont even need to list why straight is better. Everyone can figure out pros and cons forthemselves.

The societal viewpoint on same sex marriages is slowly shifting towards acceptance, which disturbs me. I am in no way endorsing prejudice, but homosexuality is a choice you make, and people should be held responsible for their decisions in life, especially one that affects it so much.

These are, of course, only my opinions, but many people seem so accepting of homosexuality simply because they feel that it is not dangerous. Many also believe that ignorance is acceptable for the same reason, but ignorance all too often is dangerous, as I'm sure many can attest to. Homosexuality is a form of ignorance, in which the intended boundaries set out for life are shunned. It is alarming how easy it is to cross that line nowadays, and the growing acceptance of society simply serves to make it easier and easier to "defect".
