!!!Master of Orion 2!!!
Ok I don't know how any of you overlooked Moo2 but it has got to be one of the best games around. I mean it is always tough to beat and never really the same game twice. I mean with all the different race picks to choose from it rocks. My usual picks are;
- Cybernetic, Good for any size Galaxy
- Warlord, Only really worth it in S/M Galaxy
- Repulsive, Who wants diplomacy when you can just kill
- Tolerant, Great for any size Galaxy saves on research
I don't know about the rest of you but Master of Orion 3 really disapointed me.

Thats a great game, its better then MOO 3.
I like to choose Lithovore as one of my race picks, so my race eat rocks and I don't need to farm and Creative so you can research multiple things at once...

There are a couple reasons I likek Cybernetic better than Lithovore....1 is that being Cybernetic allows your ships to repair themselves durring combat!...2 is that while not having to worry about food is great each unit of population only needs 1/2 with cyberntetic so one farmer does for about 4 pop, get a good farming planet and let is supply all your worlds...3 automatically have advanced damage control...4 and this is a deciding factor Cybernetic only costs 4 picks while Lithovore takes 10.
With those extra 6 picks you only need 2 more for Creativity, which costs 8 picks. If you want to really challenge your self go for UnCreative...lol. It is really tough especially if they don't at least give you Research Lab or Automated Factories.

Hmmm.... I only played a bit of the demo for MOO3 and hated it. Haven't tried Civ3 yet but have 2 and like it ok.
I wonder who out there can beat the game at least 90% of the time on Impossible difficulty? Any size galaxy is ok. It is still tough for me even after all this time and I can only win about 50% of the time. I do better on smaller maps with Impossible difficulty.

Do they still have the Stellar Converter in MOO3? I loved going around destroying planets with it in 2.

MoO2 is one of my all-time-favs. It blows MoO3 to kingdom come. I like milking the score to the last point, if I remember correctly, my Highscore was about 30.000 points.

Well you can probally still find it at The Source (aka Radio Shack) for under $10 bucks, although it is not being made anymore.
When I first started the game I loved creative, but usually got my but kicked. I mean I kept building structures instead of my fleet.
One thing I no longer play without now is Cybernetic.
And I also love Warlord as it lets you have a bigger fleet. I mean I have had a game when my home system had 3 other ok planets and the surrounding systems weren't that good so I focused on Colony bases and since each of them alone gave me +2 Comand points I was able to have a pretty good fleet well on the way before spreading.
Lets not forget about Tolerant...NO POLUTION and no penalties for Radiated or Barren and stuff like that. The only thing you have to worry about now is Gravity.

I actually bought the game twice.
I always take creative, because I cant stand not being able to learn everything.
I almost always take a hit on stealth, land attack strenth, ship attack/defence, to get myself a large rich science homeworld, and subterranian, i like having huge planets instead of lots of little ones

If I could choose,I would have better few Gaia Planets with Star Fortresses and fully build up colony than tens of little planets. But always when I played it i had always much planets as i could have what was your favorite ending up the game,to go and destroy Antarens,or to eliminate all others ,or to be elected to be Emperator?

I played MOO2 a lot too, and wasn't very pleased with MOO3. I think I played MOO1 also, but can't remember now.
I don't remember whether it is MOO3, but I think it has an objective look on humans which is very rare in space games. Most games usually make humans the most balanced species, and give them some diplomatic advantage. However MOO3 (I think) said that they are some of the most greedy egoistic expansionists, your friends only as long you agree with them.
I also liked Star Control 3 for the storyline.

Thats an interesting view that humans are like this,i would agree with programmers, because people are greedy, they want to have more and more, pity i havent played MOO3,but everyone is telling me ,that it isnt so good as MOO2.

I have MOO3 and its not so bad, I just never got over the learning curve before giving up.
it had alot of things that were tedious in Moo2 automated, or programmable.
the ending I prefered was destroying all opponents, I really didnt like the diplomatic victory, it seemed to ruin the game everytime someone one with it

Hey man that's what the fine art of spying is for. I absolutely love Armor Piercing ability on my weapons. Few people choose HA over Automated factories so it's really good. I like to quickly get AP Lasers then go for Mass Drivers, Inertial Stabalizers, and then Class3 Shields then replace my APLasers with APMass Drivers. This usually does me very well until I start getting Gravitron Beams or Phasors Shield Piercing. Or if your lucky Particle Beams from Orion are automatically SP.
